Cool Cleric Build Idea. Want a double check.

Basically I'm taking a page from that cool crossblooded blaster sorc/wizard thread and using it for something else.

Holy Word baby.

This cleric grabs Spell Focus Evocation then Mage's Tattoo Evocation. Spell Specialization comes next and we can make use of it well enough with Searing Light for awhile. We fill in the blanks with some metamagic, Extend, Enlarge, Heighten, maybe Intensify if we can work it in.

We'll switch to Cold Ice Strike because it is a crazy awesome spell.

Then when we finally get Holy Word.

Our effective Caster Level is 3 higher than normal so against a good deal of enemies we'll blind and deafen them. Two more levels and we get Spell Perfection and kick it up to 6 higher than normal. Now the majority of enemies are blinded and deafened and sometimes if we're fighting mooks we'll paralyze them too. We also get to tack on a free enlarge we grabbed earlier.

Kinda cool right? Level 15 we throw out CL 21 Holy Words. Plus a free banishment effect.

Spell Resistance is easy to pierce with the CL upgrades and even if they save, they're still blinded for 1d4 rounds or paralyzed for 1 round.


Add a bead of karma for 10 mins of CL25 Holy Words. At that point you can potentially paralyse Pit Fiends for 1d10 minutes.

The Rise of the Runelords Outlander: Missionary trait lets you pick three spells to cast at +1 CL (and +1 DC)


Oh man how high can we bring this thing? Would we be able to double that bonus from Missionary with Spell Perfection?


Orange Prism Ioun Stone adds +1 CL as well


With that we're three away from killing Pit Fiends with a Holy Word, if Spell Perfection doubles the trait bonus, two.


Spell perfection only increases bonuses specifically from feats. Taking the trait via the extra traits feat might slide by as a grey area


20th Level Cleric
18 Wisdom Base
+5 from Stat Increases from Leveling
+6 Enhancement Bonuses
+5 Inherent

34 Wisdom 7th Level Spell with the trait makes it a DC 30 Will Save. We can heighten it to 9th for DC 32.

That Pit Fiend has a less than even chance of surviving versus our mega Holy Word.


Can't use Heighten With spell perfection... you can however apply Persistent Spell for free, so they have to roll the Save Twice!!
