Is a wand of lesser restoration the wand of CLW for the high levels?

ie, something NEED to have at higher levels to restore a lost resource that will stop your adventuring day, or have I just hit the scenarios that were trying like crazy to stat drain the party into jellyfish?

Technically yes. But remember, Lesser Restoration takes 3 rounds to cast. So it's the same with a wand.

As for Scenarios that do drain. There are a LOT that do that. Potions are faster. Get a lot of those!

I found a partially charged wand on one of my characters, so I bought that and we'll see if he needs to use it (he just hut lvl 7). That being said, I can only think of one game off the top of my head where the party needed more than one lesser restoration, and that was when everyone had 15 STR damage.

My wife's lvl 10 cleric has lesser restoration as her preferred spell. Quite a few of her spell slots go to that spell now.

As an orcale I would have it as a spell known. As a Cleric I would have a few scrolls of it, maybe a wand although they are pricey. As anyone else I might have a potion or two.

In recent high level play I GM'ed one encounter that had EIGHT monsters all dealing level drain to the party. So lesser restoration is probably the least you can ask for!

4,500gp is not too much for 50d4 ability score restoration. It also removes exhausted and fatigued!

Lesser restoration does not remove ability drain

Yup -- you need restoration for that. Her are common mistakes made with the spell restoration:

• Do not forget the material component cost when buying scrolls of it. It is 800 GP for a scroll that will restore all temporary damage, temporary negative levels, and the drain done to a single stat. It is 1,700 GP for the same spell that will also restore a permanent negative level.

• One can only clear one permanent negative level per week using restoration. This isn't that big a problem in PFS following a scenario, but could be an issue if done during game play.

In answer to the original question, yes. Ability damage comes up often enough to be worth having a wand of lesser restoration.
