The League of Elven Purity

** A tall and distinguished elf stands addressing the crowd **

Elves - Please listen...

In an effort to keep our bloodlines pure, the League Of Elven Purity stands ready and vows to do its best to educate, promote and arrange elven only marriages and copulation. The League asks that all elves, regardless of clan, support our cause to help stop the careless mating that is leading to the impurity of our race. Every time an elf makes the choice to mix-mate and bring a half-blood into this world it ushers our race one step closer to extinction.

What is wrong with us "Half-Bloods"? Are we not good enough for the likes of your "Pure-blood"? So you think your better then me? If you ask me, I think every elf should find his way to a good human wench! She could teach him a thing or two. Bless my whore of a mother, she tough me everything I needed to know about growing up on the streets. Can't say my swashbuckling bastard elf of a father left me empty handed either. These Elven traits came in handy sneaking through the streets! So you better watch how you talk about us "half-bloods" or you may end up with a poison coated dagger between your shoulder blades!

Your funny little man. Funny indeed. As I sack your settlements I plan on putting my orcish/human seed in every pointy eared wench I see. With any luck I'll have 15 bastards before the turn of the year.

I would really like to know what you would make of my singing friend. That pretty tiefling walks into a town and women start abandoning their husbands and children for just the chance of getting a piece of what's swinging between his legs.

*Snicker* Sounds like the Bachelor for elves. They take so long do decide anything, can you imagine? 5th Season they just introduced the host.

I encounter enough racisim in the real world, I don't care to see it in my gaming, thanks.

I remember the first time in EQ that I encountered racism. Playing a Dark Elf rogue, running around EC fighting what I could take solo, this human player just layed into me calling me scum and saying all kinds of stuff. I took me a couple of seconds to realize what he was saying, I recall thinking "what the hell?? Is this guy for real?" He was higher level then I so I couldn't duel him, rogues in EQ were gimped beyond gimped, so I just went somewhere else, but it was a really strange experience. I actually encountered it several more times playing that character, getting turned down for groups and having people make snide comments.

Not really the type of RP I was seeking!

You decided to roll a creature of evil... Were you expecting a welcome basket? Were there no Ogres or Trolls to party with?

I've added your Guild to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list. If you have a brief description you'd like to appear there to let people know about your guild while they're browsing that list, just PM me or post a clear request here.

Also, The Seventh Veil welcomes you to the community, and extends an offer of Diplomatic Outreach. (Note, this is not an offer for Alliance, just a way to open formal channels for private discussions.)

Are you familiar with Taur-im-Duinath?

You should stay away from Elves in Pathfinder then, reading Elves of Golarion it felt like they really like their racism. They do mention a few times that only pure elves are allowed in Kyonin beyond one city on the border.

I'm ok with it from a lore/NPC point of view. I just don't want to have to deal with it from a RP point of view with other players. The good thing about PFO, is I can just kill anyone spouting intolerance in-character (out-of-character racism would be a ban offense), while such behavior is frowned upon in the real world.

I hear where you are coming from, Imbicatus, but not sure how GW would treat killing that. On Golarion, many races dislike or hate other races. Elves and Humans don't like Half-Elves, with some hating them. Humans don't like, and often hate Half-Orcs. Dwarves hate Goblins, Orcs, Hobgoblins, etc (and Dragons). And the list goes on from there. Theoretically someone could claim you are griefing them if they are just RPing a xenophobic character, and makes their views know again and again, resulting in you killing them repeatedly. Of course, the reverse might also be true if they are just doing it to get you to attack them hoping you get banned. You might want to be cautious.

Golarion has many racial and ethnic issues, even though the setting is quite progressive. As has been noted by Paizo, in a world where you can marry another race, for example, no one cares about same-sex relationships, or polygamy.

Kzar points out that the supplement, Elves of Golarion, makes it abundantly clear that some, not all, Elves are very xenophobic. Most tend to stay in all Elven enclaves, however, so it is rare to meet them as adventurers, but I guess it can happen. If more races from the Advanced Race book make it into PfO, there will be more potential RP tension.

I hate ethnic bigotry in the real world, as we're all humans, no matter the color of our skin or any differences in facial features. On Golarion, however, there are really different races. You can't quite apply the same intolerance of the intolerant there as you can on Earth. Someone, like the OP, may want to RP a very xenophobic member of any race. While I would not do it, it is a valid RP choice, unless both Paizo and GW say otherwise, as it is based upon published lore. I just don't want to see you get into trouble for trying to be noble. I applaud your desire to see such behavior not be part of a game, but it is fantasy, and as ugly as it is in the real world, it isn't quite the same thing when you are dealing with made up races. Hell, even Tolkien's Elves had issues with half-elves and their Numenorean Brethren (and Dwarves too, not to mention Goblins, Orc and the Uruk-Hai/Half-Orcs). You might want to ask GW and Paizo for a ruling on this before EE begins is all. If they say it is a fair way to RP to be xenophobic and bigoted, you could be the one to get burned, and you offer too much to PfO.

OOC: I just want to make it perfectly clear that I am role playing. IRL I am inter-racially married and have been for 23 years. We also have three beautiful, intelligent and well adjusted mixed children who are proud of both their white and black heritages. I have had the League of Elven Purity in my tabletop campaign for 25+ years and for 6.5 years when I ran my NWN server. It always serves as a means of raising awareness of real world bigotry and harm it can do. To me, I RP it as a parody and a social experiment. It's always enjoyable to watch how others react (good and bad) - Thank you.

It's also interesting how members of the LOEP interpret it's purpose and where they try to take it. Some are blatantly evil, desiring to kill half-elves on sight, using their membership in the LOEP as some kind of justification for their murderous desires. While others try to justify it with some altruistic view of remaining true and patriotic to their pure-blood elven or human race. Xil definitely has the more altruistic motivation.

There are going to be bad guys in PFO. Some of them are interested in only stealing your money. Others want to kill you because you don't live in their settlement (Alliance Wars). The LOEP will add to the flavor of Bad Guy groups.

Tell me, my elven brothers and sisters, do you want your child to marry a human and bear a child and love them with all their heart. Only to have them out live their spouse and child by many decades or centuries. To allow your child to endure such pain when you can stop it is parental negligence. For that matter, do YOU want to stand by and watch your own grand-child grow old and die before your very eyes with nothing you can do to stop it. It is not the natural way of things.

It's your responsibility as a parent to properly educate and protect your child and also to arrange a proper marriage for them. Join our cause today to save our children and ourselves from this travesty. You can actively get involved in many ways or if you like, you can help by making a donation pledge to the League. Finally, if you have children, please register them with the League today so that we can assist you in arranging the perfect marriage for them.

Many shorter lived races will never understand our plight, as honestly it is beyond their comprehension. If you have regular dealings with them and fear that they will judge you, as they are judging me here today, you need not worry. The League will never share its membership roll or benefactors with anyone who is not a trusted League member.

OOC: Well played sir I salute you. Honestly I like this kind of thing and what makes PFO a good place to do it IS because people who don't like it can try and shut you up. You're not doing it without the threat of repercussions and you can honestly start up an all elf enclave if you want since you can form your own areas. Well done. :)

IC:

*Shrugs*

Elf coin spends as well as any other. I don't mind any elf towns unless they don't want my business. Then I have some issues.

OOC: I totally support your OOC views, and I get where your are coming from. If I were playing an Elf, Half-Elf, or Human in game, we may come into conflict in character, but my current plans are for a Dwarf Monk and a Gnome Druid or Sorcerer. They will be mostly indifferent, unless more violent members of your group engage any of my colleague in game.

OOC: One of the things about RP-ing is that it gives us the opportunity to explore some of the more sinister or tragicaly flawed aspects of human nature. If cold-blooded murder for money is in, I would assume bigotry and xenophobia would be just fine as long as it's clearly being represented as in IC thing.

I really enjoy campaigns where some of the players take on thier opportunity to play deeply flawed characters, so I applaud you for taking on that challenge.

Grand Lodge

Oh, if you like deeply flawed characters, what about flawless characters like me. Flawless because I am the incarnation of Dreyfus, the ancient god of uncertainty and misguided faith. The only way I am going to regain my godly power is to obtain enough followers who worship me.

Speaking of that, do you want to take a chance that I am right. The more worshipers who follow me, the faster I will ascend into paradise and reward you. Those who rebuke me will surely incur my wrath when I have regained my full power. You may as well save yourself the trouble and pledge your undying worship and love to me now.

... oops, did I say that out loud? Never mind.

Apparently unnoticed by others, an elderly gnoll wearing a heavy blue robe embroidered with silver lotus blossoms steps up with a toothy smile. So very true, so very true ... but I fear you don't understand; love strikes where love strikes. You, my dear friend, place the blame on your elven kin. Why? Is it not the fault of the young upstarts who tempt them? He takes a long, long drag on a huge waterpipe, and pauses to blow a smoke ring, even if it's unclear just where the hookah came from. No. The right answer, the only answer, my dear fellow, is to eliminate the temptation. You said it yourself. This problem is beyond their comprehension. The gnoll leans in, towards you. Think of the deaths you will avert, think of the tears left unshed, think of the hearts left unbroken if the younger, shorter-lived races ... were to go away. He hands you a card, which says simply, Salazmandaranth. I know, I know, you aren't ready to accept the truth, but as you watch, as you yourself feel eld creep upon you, as you see these tragedies play themselves out, over and over and over ... you will understand what you have to do. Summon me when you're ready, and we will remake this world into the elven paradise it deserves to be! But where did the gnoll go? Didn't he have a hookah? At least ... at least the card remains.
