The crowd claps politely as the newcomer and Amarkys take their positions. Though many have seen the human before, nobody is overly impressed with him so far. That said, some have taken a liking to him after his fight with Kyrian, since they felt he was being more manly about the whole thing, and still others feel he was at a disadvantage against the team of Esmarelda and Bruno. He's considered a likable underdog at the moment, though he's up against an entirely new participant, so nobody knows exactly what to expect.
Initiatives and pre-battle hijinks, if you please. Charan is at A10, Amarkys at L10.
I'd like to take a moment to clarifiy how I've been thinking about the beginning of these fights: The combatants have a moment to stand in the arena and bow/wave to the crowd, taunt their opponent, shout war cries etc., but they may not use any actual abilities (such as a barbarian's rage, or cavalier's challenge) until the fight actually begins. The initiatives should be rolled in the same post as your character's pre-combat actions, and will then be immediately used to decide turn order and continue on with the fight. There should be no using of any actual abilities until your first post in turn order, during the surprise round.

Charan, the Monkey Monk |
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
D'oh...
Charan waves to the crowd with his left hand, right hand holding his javelin. He is fit, young, limber brownish furred Vanara who runs around shirtless to show off his physique... Which could probably define almost half the Vanara of his age in existence. Specifically, the male half.
On his back, there are four more javelins. Shurikens are stowed in his wide white belt that keeps his loose tan shorts up

Amarkys, having barely entered the arena, abruptly decides that this is not a good day for a battle, and turns to leave, whereupon he is instantly incinerated by a white flare of unknown energy. The crowd claps at the light show, but is upset when they realize their entertainment has come to an end before it began. There are few among them who remain impressed with the human, and any sympathy towards him for his opponent's lack of manliness has been transferred to the monkey-man whose bout was cancelled.
Charan, I'm very sorry your first fight wasn't. On the bright side, you gain 1 VP and 300 gp for your character without the chance of losing, which is admittedly less of a bright side in this testing period... I hope you'll stay on board and we can get you in against someone else soon, so you can actually try out your character.
