Technology Guide/Cybertech

In the description entry for Skillslot there is a hyperlink entry:

PRD wrote:
(see here for information on the various forms of available skillchips.)

The hyperlink unfortunately leads to a blank page.

Technology Guide/Gear

In the Table for the Cortex Gun, the Mark V is improperly aligned.

Technology Guide/Gear

In the table for Force Field, all entries for Capacity, Temp HP, and Fast Healing are smashed together after the Color entries. They need to be properly spaced.

Also, unless I am making things up in my head, the old PRD used to have a small banner across the top of your webpage that was, "sticky" I guess is the word to use. But it scrolled down the page when you did and had a link back to PRD home. Could we get that banner back, I loved it for navigation. When I was done on a page I would go back to PRD home and navigate to the next page I needed. Much faster than scrolling all the way back to the top of the page.

Liberty's Edge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

As a general issue, when I searched for, say, Coup De Grace in the old interface, and clicked on the link that came up, it would go directly to that term on the page in question. It now universally goes to the top of the page which is...extremely inconvenient when searching for something in, say, the combat section.

The following two pages use the old sideNav markup:

prd/bestiary3/creatureTypes.html
prd/bestiary3/universalMonsterRules.html

Other than that seems shiny.

That would be an errata for the book, as it has the exact same error.

When I use my droid to go to the NPC classes it displays the entire prd menu on the page with the NPC classes at the bottom. Waaaaaaaay down at the bottom.

I've had numerous other issues using the new PRD on my droid tablet and phone, and so have others in my gaming group this past Saturday. We would have liked a way to view the old site until the bugs are worked out of the new one.

You still need to make changes so that Pinch to Zoom will work on iPads.

I really am not liking the format change at all.

Although this may have made things better on tablets and devices (dunno), it is a great deal less useful on PC's now.

Navigation menus that scroll off the screen, or not really useful for navigating.

If you could make a way for the menu to stay on the screen, despite scrolling down the content, that would go a long way to improving it.

When the menus were horizontal across the top like before, this was not an issue... those worked wonderfully. Having them in a panel to the left, however, just scrolls them with everything else... and given there's a lot of info on the content pages sometimes, this means they're pretty much always out of sight.

This has been an error for some time, but since there might be a lot of other 'fixes' going on I'll mention it here.

on the Spell List page for the Core Rulebook, under the 1st level cleric spells, the spell Doom's summary information states: "One subject takes –2 on attack rolls, damage rolls, saves, and checks."

The problem is the bolded portion.

If you then click on Doom and read the actual spell description, it gives the Shaken condition, which does NOT give a negative to damage.

So either the summary info in the spell listing is wrong, or the description of the shaken condition is wrong.

Hmm... never looked in the book to see what it says in the actual printed copy.... perhaps this isn't strictly a PRD thing.

Removed some posts. This is a thread for the PRD only. Thanks.

Also a quick note on some updates for some necessary fixes: the table scrolling issue is on my plate and actively being addressed as I type this. I've talked to our tech team about the search issue, and it looks like it will be something that they'll need to prod with a rather sharp stick to totally fix (since it actually ties into our search indexing), though I may be able to rig something up temporarily. Stay tuned for an update later this week. :)

I don't see the menus at all, where are they supposed to be?

Terquem wrote:

They should be appearing in red, on a column on the left side.

If all you see is the introductory paragraphs, take a look at this thread for some troubleshooting solutions and information.

I am using IE 8, stupid company cheap olios, and even in compatability it isn't showing up. I'll keep poking around to try and find a solution. Thanks Lamontius

I don't think you will get anywhere with version 8. I guess we are out of luck for the time being.

Not sure if its been posted yet (not scrolling through 900 pages!) but the entry for Wyrwood http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary4/wyrwoof.html#wyrwood is broken. you get the message The requested URL was not found on this server, or you do not have permission to access this area.

Found a copy error in the Technology Guide -> Technology in the World -> Archetypes -> Iron Priest:

Also this should probably read "This ability alters spontaneous casting." at the end, but that's on both sources.

Scarab Sages

From Here: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCampaign/downtime/downtimeActivi ties.html

Breadcrumbs at the top of page back to "Downtime" gives a 404 golem page
The "PRD Home" breadcrumbs works, though.

The link for the colour out of space in the Bestiary 4 doesn't work.

The link goes to:

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary4/colorOutOfSpace.html#color-out -of-space

It's missing the "u" in colour. Adding in the "u" fixes it:

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary4/colourOutOfSpace.html#colour-o ut-of-space

The new page just looks bad....It hard to read and move around. The font is realy hard to read. The button do not alway show on my PC.

It seems that the fonts change size between pages on my iPhone. I would like a slightly smaller font, but that's one of those things that will vary from person to person.

This wording is strange. Maybe:

Spontaneous Casting: An iron priest can spontaneously convert non-domain spells to "cure" or "inflict" spells. In addition, an iron priest can “lose” any prepared spell that is not a domain spell in order to cast any spell with "make whole" in its name. The "make whole" spell must of the same spell level or lower as the spell sacrificed. This ability alters spontaneous casting.

At a minimum, fix the first "cure" word in the original text to make whole.

Firefox 31.0 on Windows 7 Professional seems to be having problems displaying characters on the sidebar, I'm just seeing blank spaces and incomplete words (such as " ec nology Guide"). The error often occurs at the beginning of a word. It does not occur on Chrome (Windows 7). Anyone else having that problem?

With the new PRD,

Type sickened in the search box and it dutifully shows the entries. Click on the 2nd result and you are taken to the url "http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/glossary.html#_sickened", however what display is the top of the page for:

PRD Home / Glossary
Special Abilities

This happens with all searches that I have tried. The url appears correct but the displayed page is always at the top and I have to search for the term on that page.

Also, as an aside, I can not download the PRD using HTTRACK anymore, it just gives the first page, and since I am not always at a place where the internet is available, that searchable resource has become semi-useless for me.

Grand Lodge

Here's a link to the page with the problem. If you scroll down to the Settlement Modifiers section, the sidebar, "Guards! Guards!" between Economy and Law doesn't page break.

EDIT: For that matter the table at the top of the page doesn't format properly either.

EDIT AGAIN: Also in that "Guards! Guards!" block, there's a typo. There's a sentence that says "Since the wizard rolled three thimes the amount he needed,"

So, I've gone ahead and pushed an update that fixes all the issues that have been reported up to this post, with the exception of a couple problems:

There are 35 pages with really wide tables, and our current solution for responsive/resizing tables seems to not work for all cases. I've removed a CSS rule so you can at least scroll to see the content, instead of them being cut off. I'm going to be actively researching to see if there's something a bit better we can do, but it may not show up until the next update.

Below is the list I am going off of for pages with this problem, if you notice any pages that aren't listed here, please post them!

The second issue is the search problem, which is mostly related to our updating/reindexing process for the search feature. This is currently in the tech team's queue, and once I know more about when the fix will occur, I'll go ahead and post.

I'll also note that I've been sifting through the feedback on visuals, and there's some really valid points (particularly the browser issues reported above) and we may see some slight tweaking with September's large ACG update. Thanks guys!

Actually, I'm not sure is if this a search problem or a problem with the "in-page" anchor tags:

If you search for "cover", you get the following link:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/combat.html#_cover

If you remove the underscore from after the #, it goes right to the correct location on the page:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/combat.html#cover

I'm not sure where the underscores got inserted into the URI, but removing them works for me (IE 11, both desktop and RT version in Windows 8.1).

Chris,

You should be able to set up a rule that keeps body text in a fixed position. Just don't put tables in that rule and they should be able to scroll left and right.

Large tables on mobiles are an inherent problem. Even if you switch to a landscape view, a sufficiently large table will bleed. Hell, they can bleed without much difficulty on desktops.

Happy CSSing.

I'm new to the RPG world and am trying to get the basics down. I'm running into a conflict regarding movement, though. Page 192 of the Corebook(regarding a graphic showing 5 squares of movement)states:

"The fighter's first move costs him 5 feet (or 1 square). His next costs 5 feet also, but his third (his 2nd diagonal) costs him 10 feet. Next he moves into difficult terrain, also costing him 10 feet. At this point (#6), the fighter has moved 30 feet—one move action. The last square is a diagonal move in difficult terrain, which costs 15 feet; HE MUST SPEND HIS TURN'S STANDARD ACTION TO MOVE THIS FAR."

Nowhere can I find an additional 15ft worth of movement, or any movement, as a Standard Action. I thought maybe this was a typo, but the exact same statement appears in the PRD. What am I missing?

You're missing the fact that you can, rather than taking a move action and a standard action, choose to instead take two move actions.

CRB p181, Move Action wrote:
You can take a move action in place of a standard action

If you use two move actions in a round (sometimes called a "double move" action) you can move up to double your speed.

The font (PT Serif) is very distressing to read and despite my best efforts to override that font, it doesn't work. Overriding works on other sites, so why not the PRD? Also, the text takes too much space, I don't know if that's the font's fault as well or the line spacing, but it's bad. I really want the old concise PRD back.

Also, zooming in and out doesn't work on the mobile version (Android in my case). I want to be able to zoom! Especially out.

The links that have an underscore in them (like this one: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advanced/coreClasses/rogue.html#_scout) don't work any longer. Any chance they can be made to work again?

Grand Lodge

IMHO, I found the old font unreadable. YMMV, but it kept me for using it, so much so I would have been happy to pay someone for a offline version of it or for a program for the Mac that would work like the iPad versions.

I'm very excited about your new site design. When I'm gaming, I'm mostly doing lookups on my phone or tablet, and the old site design was very difficult to work with on such devices. The new design not only improves my experiences on those devices, but it looks and works better on desktops and laptops better as well. Of course, this is all personal preference, but overall I am quite pleased.

Thank you very much for all the work that went into implementing this new design.

I do have a critique however. I noticed that it's been discussed that working with tables on touch/mobile devices is a bit of an issue and that some work has been put into improving this. If I may, I'd like to suggest my preferred solution.

Currently, iScroll Lite is being used to make working with the tables on smaller screens and touch devices more friendly. While it does work for that, there is a big price to pay for this. Since iScroll has to monitor most of the events on the page, it comes at a high performance cost which increases with the amount of content on the page.

My Moto X is a powerful phone, yet even it lags .5-1 second each time it is asked to scroll a large page on the site (take any class page as a good example). This makes interaction very difficult as you have to wait for the page to scroll after making the motion. This cost also slows down the redraws, causing text to look very blurry for a moment after doing a large scroll.

iScroll can clearly be seen as the culprit since removing it from the page causes the content to smoothly scroll with no perceptible latency and with minimal redraw issues on touch devices.

I'd like to see iScroll removed as it will greatly reduce the performance cost of each page. Since .wrapper is set to overflow:hidden, this will need to be updated to overflow:scroll. Here is how such a setup will be different on specific devices when a table overflows the available space:

Touch Devices:
Pros - Faster performance. Tables can still be moved around using drag interactions.
Cons - None.

Non-Touch Devices:
Pros - Faster performance (possibly a moot point for most devices). Tables can now be scrolled using the mouse wheel (even though the JS specifically enabled this feature, iScroll Lite does not support it).
Cons - Appearance of OS-specific scrollbars could negatively impact the design aesthetic. Can no longer drag contents to scroll.

The reality is that devices do a very good job of interacting with overflowing content using the interfaces that they offer: Scrollbars, mouse wheel, and multi-touch touchpads on non-touch devices and drag events on touch devices. With the current approach, some of these normal interactions break (such as forcing touch-style interactions on non-touch devices) and normal visual cues that additional content is available are removed (such as scrollbars). I know that this was likely done for design purposes, but I think that the performance issues outweighs the design considerations.

Shadow Lodge

Ultimate Combat states the following, under the Favored Terrain ability for the World Walker druid archetype:

"This ability replaces trackless step and reduce nature's lore."

I assume that is meant to be "...resist nature's lure?"

In the Spell List Index under 1st-level Inquisitor spells, it lists protection from chaos but it's missing protection from evil, protection from good, and protection from law.

Also, the same list is not totally alphabetical. For some reason, linebreaker appears before lend judgment.

Small stuff, but I noticed so I thought I'd pass it along.

I could be wrong, but it appears as if links to feats from the APG link at the top of the feat page rather than to the actual feats.

It may be more an issue of my ancient BB technology (don't laugh, I don't want to be forced into Verizon's shared data), but I no longer see the full charts on my phone. It doesn't seem to b an issue with my other devices, but it didn't used to be with this.

Can you let us know what devices these are? For smaller screens it should be popping these tables into a scrollable container at the moment.
