Hey tin-man! You only took damage for the successful check. Strangely enough an incopetent surgeon with a high enough con can merilly cut for hours and only suffer the Con damage. A minor fluke of the rules.
<rim shot!>
If that is the case then I get 5 hp back. Better. Thanks again Pollux.
Tal Bernard Mainz |
hey Tal got lucky with a 19 hopefully you will as well. The 11 damage was a killer though but better since Pollux only took 1.

I do like the fact that you have now converted you S&S pirate adventure to an Iron Chef themed campaign. Battles against other cooking shows, fights over who gets the best products, and of course forcing unsuspecting PCs to have to eat the other players creations.

I think the post above could be improved by removing the last word.

Mmmm, fried rat with some hollandaise sause.

So instead of being mostly dead he is just partially dead. 1 hp abov versus 2 hp under. Big difference there. the 4 con is going to hurt though.

Don't you remember what Miracle Max said... mostly dead is slightly alive
;-p
Now that i'm up I'm hoping for some chocolate coating, to make things go down easier.
TarkXT |
I really wish I had found the robahl insult thread in the CoT forum earlier.
Some of my favorites.
"Talentless hack' is merely an unevolved expression. You have taken it to an entirely new level."
"In comparison to these most excellent lines the author dreamed to touch the ears of our audience, your performance was a verbal aberration close to a treacherous grotesque absurdity of oral insufficiency."
"”Gods help me, that is perhaps the most insightful, ingenious morsel of advice to bless my ears in all the years I’ve labored in this field of would-be divas and porcelain kings!!! How in the name of Asmodeus are you not an advisor to Queen Abrogail herself!?! You’re input is like the scintillating colors of dawn illuminating my dim and feeble world. It is as if I’ve been a timid ignorant, afraid and searching in the dark, just fumbling my way through this mystery of life. . . . . . . Truly! I mean truly! Will you think before muttering your inane nonsensical dribble!! I need actors, entertainers who will listen to instruction, not self-delusional, mind-numbing, ill-bred, pox-ridden, debutantes! Now read your lines like a well trained dog, or I’ll pull another lice infested vagrant from the street to replace you.”
“And by the way, clamp that stencheous fissure you call a mouth while I’m within five paces of you? At least on stage the audience won’t be able to catch wind of your intolerable breath, let alone see the travesty of your gaping maw.”
"What can I say? Your level of ability sets the new standard for 'disaster.' "
"What you're doing is wrong; aesthetically wrong, technically wrong, and philosophically wrong. Please stop before you get to the sciences."
"That was quite possibly the best impersonation of a plate of beans negotiating its way out of a otyugh's digestive tract I have ever heard."
I love this AP so much.
Petronicus Crispin |
Well it looks like Petronicus bit it pretty hard. I had a feeling that this would be his undoing. The dice bot has been cruel. I just hope he took someone out in the audience as he feel off the stage.
Sorry to have failed you all but it looks like you will be short a wizard again. Between the CON dmg and the 26dmg from the knife I think it is save to say that he is all dead.
The shame is that this seems like a great AP... I think I will need to borrow my friends books and read how it is supposed to play out.
Tark - let me know where the funeral is... although I suspect it will be a burial in the river if I am luck but most likely in the sewers.
Sunderstone |
Btw, if you need me to bow out of the Skull and Shackles application process due to the huge amount of applicants, it's no problem. I still havent read the players guide, I was going to get to that mon/tues and choose a trait, tweak my origin slightly, etc.
You're a good GM Tark, how do you find the time to run/play so many games? I'm envious. :)
Tal Bernard Mainz |
I like how the discussion thread for all four games are linked into this one. It will make for some interesting posts.
TarkXT |
Welcome. Welcome, to City 17. You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers. I thought so much of City 17, that I elected to establish my administration, here, in the citadel, so thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. I am proud to call City 17 my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through to parts unknown, welcome, to City 17. It's safer here.
Sorry, sorry it's late and I'm tired. I flashed back to more clever writing and better designers than me.
So for the new arrivals I would like to direct you to the campaign threads. Please take the time to make any last minute changes to your character before I make final approvals. Lastly, you remember the bit where I said don't buy equipment? Now you can. However! Do not add it to your sheet! Rather put it on a list here or pm it to me so I can set it aside for later retrieval. Thank you. You receive average character wealth for your class at first level in this way.
Kess the Osprey |
Ok, read the players guide, chose a trait and tweaked the druid slightly changing my domain from Plant to Weather, and a skill adjustment or two for the campaign (putting points into profession-sailor and swim over Heal and Perception).
Hope this is ok with you.
Also my holy symbol is wooden and probably valueless, did they take that too?
BTW*** Goblin is a hated race for me both mechanically and via my backstory. This will be interesting. :)
Sylvestra Striana |
Thank ya for the invite, TarkXT. Can't wait to brave the danerous seas under you!
About to head into work, I'll see if I can't take a look while there and try to compare to my shipmates, see if there's anything we can't cover between us. I'll PM you the equipment list as well when I have a chance.
Caldazar |
Well it looks like Petronicus bit it pretty hard. I had a feeling that this would be his undoing. The dice bot has been cruel. I just hope he took someone out in the audience as he feel off the stage.
Aye - the rot grubs are brutal if you get a rough string of luck. But it is Richard Pett after all... who the fresh meat for the Wormwood grinder are to get acquainted with shortly :) They've a fair chance of death before the first day is done.
I'll also extend a hope that you hang around and rejoin the party with a fresh character later.
On Caldakrona's damage, I'll keep unconscious for now as its written in and almost end of scene anyhow.
Lorn Butterrum |
Tis a cruel world. The only thing you can count on is you, the tools you bring to bear and the weather. Always the weather.
TarkXT, here is the equipment Lorn Butterum would have upon her person. I've provided links to clarify for those without nautical backgrounds.
Sling and 10 bullets (5lbs) 1 sp
Dagger with fancywork(1lb) 2 gp
Flask, knotted with fancy work (1.5 lbs) 3 cp
Leather and rope belt with pouches containing
1) Fishing hooks and line, and spare change ~5 gp.
2) chalk, needle and tread, soap, tindertwigs(10), small steel mirror
3) Artisan’s Sailcraft/ropework tools, masterwork(5 lbs), 50 gp
The toolkit is typically handcrafted by the artisian in question, consisting of tightly fitting pockets and/or loops connecting to fancywork knotted to the tools themselves. Something Lorn would have in character.
Fancywork, like any hobby to outsiders, boring in the crafting but beautiful when finished. And typically, most seafaring vessels are decorated throughout, typically a detail missed or excluded from movie sets due to time/effort. And yes I have dabbled in RL with this hobby. The tools(handcrafted or otherwise) make a difference.
Randall McNally |
Okay, Tark I sent you a PM with the list of Rand's gear. Looking forward to playing this AP. And I'm surprised I made through a recruitment thread without one comment about my character's name.
Rorgrim Stormbeard |

I love Jason Mraz. Saw him live in Memphis last year. Are you also a geek in the pink or were you talking about the American company? ;)
Rorgrim Stormbeard reportin' fer duty sir. I canna wait t' lose these land legs an' set sail on th' high seas!
I will get the gear list together and pm it to you. I will also review my fellow sailer stats and tweak Rorgrim' as needed. Thank you for the nod! I am very excited for the opportunity!

I was referring to the Company. Usually the name gets a snicker or two although I play it straight and the fact that he refers to himself as Rand. May have to take a rank in Craft (cartography) to round out the image.

Alistair Duphrane |
Thanks again for being selected, this looks like it will be a really interesting mix for the AP, we'll really get to play off each other well, and there are some great personalities.
Working on my equip list, should be done this morning. Any limits on value or specifications?
Shipmates - feel free to comment on my char, let me know if there are tweaks that you think would capitalize on the interplay between our characters.
Rorgrim Stormbeard |
Besmara Harpies-
Congratulations all! I bet you all are as excited as I am to be chosen. I read each of your submissions and can't wait to get started RPing.
Rorgrim is going to max out intimidate and survival. It looks like no one else is working these skills. I do the craft seige engine thing over profession sailor since we have so may around the 4-6 skill level for that (we may all need to have ranks to assist?)? Depending on the need, I may take a feat or feats to progress some important boat crafting/profession skills. After looking at our groups skills, what do y'all see us lacking?
Edit: Profile updated to include image, crunch, background, questions, and gear. Only change will be GM approved tweaks to balance the party.
Alistair Duphrane |
@Alistair - is it me or do you look like Nicolas Cage???
Funny you mention that ... I originally had another avatar, the same as Randal and we posted within minutes of each other. I described myself as sounding like Wil Turner but looking more like Nicolas Cage. So, beacause we had the same Avatar I go searching for another and bang - there he is. It became a discussion point in the recruitment thread, even posted a link to photo where there is a dead on resemblance.
And IRL hes kind of tall and lanky like a half-elf, minus the ears.
Castor the rat |
@ Petronicus
Damnit! Now I'll have to pay that dammed backstage cat. Teach me to put my money on the monkey biting it first. I say this was fixed! I was robbed I tell you robbed!
Sorry Petronicus. Even with aid others on the heal checks you still took the long walk. Damn. This performance is hell on d6 hit die folks. Pollux got damn lucky. Mind you I suspect the play will lack a lead after the next act. I wonder how many of us have to die before this tragedy becomes a farce?
.
Ideas to insert replacement character, in rough order of likelihood:
1.Previously unmentioned understudy.
2.Robahl has a theater obsessed cousin he really dislikes.
3.A league plant at the party.
4.Calseinica suddenly gains class levels.
5.One of the audience members decides they can do better that us hacks.
6.That overdressed cleric is under a geas to raise the next innocent person he sees die a pointless death.
7.The rot-grubs were really a very clever use of minor image and daze.
8. Patric Duffy walks out of a shower and everything that happened since 1986 is revealed to have been a dream sequence.
9.Castor is revealed to have been a shape-changed druid THE WHOLE TIME.
10.Turn Thesing into a PC.
Rhialla "Buxom" Blackwater |
Reporting for duty captain! Happy to be here. will give gear a run through and send a PM later today as well as go over any final tweaking.
And Rand, as soon as I read the name I started chuckilng, I love it.
Sylvestra Striana |
I started going through skills for Besmara's Harpies, just to see what we had. No one in the group currently has Disguise, or Knowledge (Dungeoneering, Engineering, Geography or Local) as a class skill at present that I could tell.
Also it appears we have three people trained on Knowledge (Arcana), three on Knowledge (Nature), and 1 for Knowledge (Religion). I might swap out my own Arcana to Planes to help diversify abit, but Nature is a bit harder to do. Of course I think that goes for all three who have it.
As far as characters go, if anyone sees anything with mine, let me know.
Alistair Duphrane |
Some char mods I'm pondering:
Skills: swap current Use Magical Device for Escape Artist (Better balance with the crew who are more likely to use magical items and better chance to escape).
Equipment: Assuming average starting wealth, this is what he'd stock himself with, what might be salvageable after apprehension, good luck with that.
Held/Worn Equipment:
Leather Armor (10gp) (15lbs)
Rapier (10gp) (2lbs) s(1d4) m(1d6) crit. 18-20x2
Travellers outfit (1gp) 5 lbs
Short Bow (30gp) 20bs s(1d4) m(1d6) crit. X3
(2) Quiver of Arrows [40] (2gp) 2x3lbs = 6lbs
Belt and Pouch (1gp) 0.5 lbs
10gp, 55sp ... I expect I won't be seeing any of that again
Backpack (10gp) 2lbs:
Thieves’ Tools (30gp) 1lbs
Waterskin (1gp) 4 lbs
5 Days Rations (25sp) 5 lbs
50 ft Silk Rope (10gp) 5 lbs
Harpy Musk (2gp) 0.5 lbs
Dagger (2gp) 1 lbs
Caltrops (1gp) 2 lbs
Bedroll (1sp) 5 lbs
Vial of Ink (8gp) - lbs
Ink Pen (1sp) - lbs
5X Sheets of Paper (2gp) - lbs
Tindertwig (1gp) - lbs
Small Steel Mirror (10gp) 0.5 lbs
He can use a rapier and a cutlass, but prefers the rapier and the dex bonus with weapon finesse he gets, but he can improvise with a chain or any light weapon to start off with.
Mugwort the Goblin |
I changed my Wisdom from 12 to 10 and upped his Intelligence to 14, which allowed me to add Survival as a skill. Seemed useful for a gob. Other than that, I should be good. I'm going to change my feat from gob gunslinger to weapon finesse. I'm going to change his blunderbuss to a small musket.
Also, equipment!
Item Price Weight
Studded Leather 25 10
2 Dogslicers 16 1
Small musket 0 5
Gunsmith's Kit 15 2
10 bullets 10 0
Powder horn 3 1
10 doses blackpowder 100 0
backpack 2 1
waterskin 1 4
flint and steel 1
lucky weasel teeth 0 1
173 gp 25.5 lbs
That should do it for me!
Mumbata of Bonuwat |
Hi Tark!,
I made a few changes. I discovered a mistake on my reflex save and moved it from a 4 to a 3. Sylvestra, I switched out my knowledge arcane, for sleight of hand, since I seem to be the only roguish character we have, aside from Siera, who seems to have a different skill set. I'll keep Knowledge Nature though, incase you want to switch out some of your skills.
I'll post my Equipment in a bit.
