1298: Alley Oop

We've been waiting for that particular Chekhov's <spoiler> to go off for how long now?

You really do gotta live in the moment.

Okay I'm impressed with the payoff.

Still think the Devil Dragon MIGHT be able to win if our guys don't get Sunny back on track.

"Serini, these new allies of yours are truly pathetic. They are already resorting to throwing small harmless- GLRKT!"

Lol

Silver Crusade

I'm disappointed that the final joke wasn't a callback to Roy throwing small, harmless animals early in his career.

Time for Bloodfeast to wander into Sunny's line of sight to set up some lizard-on-lizard action?
Man, after all this time, the payoff for Bloodfeast better be good.

I'm satisfied!

Holy crap, that doesn't feel like over ten years ago!

Yes. I had the exact same thought.

Time flies. Let's use it well.

Alley seems to be in a very good place to do something about it.

Is there a way to reflect Sunny's gaze on themselves ?

Yeah, wouldn't expect Bloodfeast to do much more than give the team a chance to regroup.

The real question: Will Serini be surprised by Bloodfeast, since she slept through that part of their planning meeting?

1299: Red vs. Red

The hits just keep on coming.

I like V in the bottom left corner genuinely terrified at how close things just got for them. (And kind of still are.)

"You yelled at my mom!"

Uh, oh. Sunny is getting mad...

I just enjoy the chaos of this fight, especially now that the dragon no longer has the upper hand.

Oops.

Well, it does provide a means for O-Chul and Lien to get to the fight, once they heal Sunny...

"Short-term" goal, after all. After the "score" through the doorway.

Well at least now we have a way for the paladins to join in.

Uh oh. I'm worried about Bloodfeast the Extreme-inator, which isn't a sentence I ever thought I'd type.

We'll see if V prepared Dispel Magic today.

I did not. Well done.

I wonder how Belkar will react to V not doing this much much earlier in the story.

I was expecting the dragon to explode.

Maybe his jaw unhinges.

If it didn't before, maybe it does now!

I wasn't ready for that, either. And yeah, my first thought was, "The party hasn't already been in a situation where a friendly dinosaur would have been helpful?"

I mean... maybe. I'd have to go back and review the comics, but I'd be surprised.

Anyway, in most of the recent comics, Calder's right horn is broken. In the previous two comics, it's his left horn. I usually don't notice details like that, so I'm sharing it now!

Looks like the right horn to me.

I mean it's great we get to see Bloodripper not be killed. We'll see if the dragon can survive not having a working jaw for a bit...

1302: Not a Competition

Poor V. And after Belkar defended him during their heel turn, way back when.

Familicide will always be my favourite.

And the deep end of the alignment pool of course.

Well, V's time as a "villain" did sharpen their sarcasm...
