Ogre's Sheet - Excel Character Creator (Alpha Testing)

Great work on the sheet, really do love it.

Some bugs. Characters start with 3500 xp, which puts them at second level. Profession Merchant is preselected on the skills page. Didn't you mean to get ride of that profession altogether btw? Wisdom is preselected on the first custom skill, which is blank.

I didn't even realize this myself till just now but when a weapon is used for a CMB that it can be used for it should get the bonus from magic or feats to that CMB.

Found a few bugs on the languages tab. Polygot and Osiriani are out of order when all the other languages are in alphabetical order. Skald and Vudrani act like Drudic when to the best of my knowledge they are not secret languages. Azlanti, Canto, and any language in Other Languages are not able to be selected as one of the languages for a high intelligence, although from what I can tell they otherwise function normally. When Varisian is selected as a language Skald shows up on page 1. When only languages from the Linguistics skill are open Vudrani can not be selected.

Also here are some languages that seem to have been left out, and were I found them.

Regional Dialects

Many areas have their own distinctive dialects. Some of the most recognizable are described below.

Korvosan (Common): The slight blend of Varisian, Shoanti, and Common, along with isolation from imperial Cheliax, caused Korvosa to develop a unique slang.[citation needed]

Riddleport Slang (Common): The heavy influence of Varisian, Skald, and Shoanti have warped the language of Taldane into one with double meanings, more than twenty words for "prostitute," and made Riddleportians careful of their accent if working a con or acting as spies.[citation needed]

Lupine Common (Common): The language of the nigh-extinct wolfmen of the extreme north, Lupin has influenced Common where the barking, howling people can be found. This mix, almost exclusively used by the lupins, uses many Common words, but has such a growling, guttural quality that a stuffy Taldan would find it unrecognizable.[citation needed]

Dark Azlanti (Azlanti): The bastardized language of Azlanti in the Darklands is used by servants of the aboleths and refugees from Ancient Azlan.[citation needed]

Also maybe Minkan spoke in the area of Tian Xi, but I can't pin that down. I have started a thread on it. I've started a thread to try and find out for sure.

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/campaignSet ting/general/minkan&page=1#0

I also have a general one to see if there is a list of all languages.

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderR PG/rules/languages&page=1#0

What is the "Kepper" that appears in the other languages box? I'm not familiar with it.

If this has not already been done, is it possible to fix that bug caused by having multiple copies open?

Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper wrote:

Based on discussions here and in another thread, I have tried to construct a pricing guide. Please let me know if I have interpreted the rules incorrectly:

Double Weapon Pricing Guide

First off I do belive that those are the correct rules regarding the price of double weapons. Secondly I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I meant since a double sword costs a little over 5 times the cost of two daggers how is it a better deal?

Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper wrote:

...My plan is to move the sheet to a "Beta" phase. For Beta, I plan to publically promote the sheet and have it available for download on the Pathfinder Database.

In the mean time I will begin working on the APG content. There is some significant restructuring required to implement this, so it means that any errors identified on the Beta versions will require me to update both the posted Beta version, and the "working copy" of the sheet that I am preparing for APG...

- Revise special material cost calculations for double weapons
- Add in a 2nd Page 2 that will appear, should there be not enough room on the page for all the characters abilities.
- Add in a 2nd Page 3 that will appear if more than 6 weapons are selected on the Arms page.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just finish up the Alpha version before you add the APG info? That way you would only have one sheet you'd have to up date. It seems like it would be a much more efficient use of time. Is your end plan to market this as a product or just have a really cool character sheet? Either is fine just curious.

Also this is just a matter of taste but it seems like it would be easier if all the Apply boxes on the bonuses tab weren't check, since most times if you have several bonuses you don't want them all at once. I can understand why maybe the first one but all 30 or so? Seems over the top.

Is there some way to have a non caster able to cast spells on the sheet as it currently stands? If so how?

The cost of ammunition seems to be both wrong and not adding to the total GP.

dunelord3001 wrote:

I have now run several tests, and I haven't noticed any problems with the cost, or it not tallying correctly.

Was there any specific type of ammunition you noticed this with?

EDIT: I have noticed that cp's are not tallying correctly... for some reason 5cp are being shown as 4cp.

I'm also thinking that I may change the Items pages to show "total weight/cost" in the display columns, rather than "unit weight/cost"

I was trying to make a Tiefling Assassin and for some reason it's racial ability modifiers were not showing. If you fix the lookup from row 30 to row 20, it should work(at least for me it did).

I might have missed it if it was just adding to the GP and nothing else. for one Adamantine costs +60 per missile. cold iron costs

I have fixed the Adamantine cost now.

Just was working with the newest version and noticed that the Caster Level item on the bonuses page doesn't appear to be working. It doesn't seem to feed anywhere. I would guess the spell page where the CL is displayed and maybe the summary page as well. I would guess it is all feeding from an underlying table someplace.

Oh and this was with a 6th level ranger, human.

Two-weapon rend does not appear if you meet the prereqs
Shield mastery does not add the enhancement bonus of the shield

This was some left over stuff from testing that I forgot to remove, as was the reference to "Kepper" in languages.

Thanks for posting all these. I have now added all the non-regional dialects to the languages page (including Minkan). I have also fixed the errors you identified and reorganized the language list.

I fixed that about a week ago. If you are still noticing errors though, please let me know.

Currently, no. There was quite a bit involved for me to attach spells lists to spellcasters, and I really don't see a good way for allowing an option to let non-casters cast spells. I hope to soon have a place to list Spell-like abilities though.

dunelord3001 wrote:

Nope. This sheet will always be free. I just like to take a professional approach in how I create and implement this sheet, as I believe it helps to give it more credibility.

I hadn't run into it in a while, but when I did it was very random so I wasn't sure. If I see it again with new versions I will let you know.

Honestly I was more looking for a way to have the a spell like ability put in so that should work.

@Kryzbyn - I am pretty sure Kor has said no to the open office cause it requires him to start from scratch

as for entering stats - I already do that on a version only a couple ago - just go to the stats tab & there is a yellow section called point buy - change that to none & enter maually

you could on the version 0.75s & have been for awhile so I asume its the same on more recent versions

@Kor any chance of a new update shortly - have game on Saturday & hoping to use the most recent release of your great sheet for it

Yeah...taht's one of the many boxes that doesnt work in open office...

If you mean a way to put them in yourself then Ceefood is correct; if you mean a way to role the random stats and scores for you the way HeroForge will yeah that would be great. However from my limited understanding of Excel that would be a *%#@ ton of work.

Kryzbyn wrote:

Unfortunately this sheet can not be supported by Open Office. I have a lot of macros that are important to the sheet, that can not be done in Open Office. Erian's sheet is the best option available for Open Office users.

I haven't decided what to do with the Random Dice rolling yet. Since there are several dice rolling methods, and most people usually roll the scores and then assign them to the abilities, I'm unsure how best to incorporate it. There are also many dice rolling applications out there (for the PC and for mobile phones), that for those who prefer their virtual dice, I think there may be better options.

Currently I don't have any immediate plans to incorporate random score generation into the spreadsheet.

Under Languages, When I Pick Thassilionian. It shows on page 1 as Jistka. If I pick Aklo then it appears as Thassilionian. The issue seems to start at under Glorian Languages, Skald. Thanks

Because it has not been said in a while, your work is much appreciated, and it is a fantastic sheet to use!

Just so we have one big list of issues with language here it goes. I went through and rechecked everything I could. I know some of this may/proably has been dealth with and all has been reported/implied. But still might make it easier. Languages seem to max out at 24 known, and you can go about that fairly easy. Polygot and Osiriani are out of order when all the other languages are in alphabetical order. Varisan shows up as Skald. There seems to be no way to get Vundrani to come up. Negepygmy shows up as Necril. Necril shows up as Gug. Gug shows up as Aklo. Orivan shows up as Canto. Canto shows up as "== Darklands Languages". Alko shows up as Thassilonian. Sakvroth shows up as Orvian. There seems to be no way to select Varisian. The following langauges exist in the setting but do not exist in the current version. Ancient Osiriani selects Vudrani. Azlanit shows up ==Ancient Golrion Langauges. Jistak as Ancient Osirani. Tekritanin shows up as Azlanti. And Thassilionian as Jistka.

Kepper appears on the sheet.

There does not appear to be a over ride that works to allow a non druids to select druidic. Not saying there should be or that such would be easy just that it could be a issue.

The override bonus langauge limitations has to be selected to selecte any bonus langauge.

There is no way to set the common language to Taldane or any other.

Although my current preference is to have it default to checked (one less thing for people to have to remember to do when trying to activate a bonus), I am now questioning whether the check box should be there at all? I am now thinking that by virtue of making a selction (which is a pretty quick thing to do) the user is then declaring that those bonuses/effects are active. If the bonus is not applicable, then the user should de-select/delete the selected bonus.

Status Update:

I have fixed all the above noted issues (including weapon special material pricing). It's late and I'm tired, so I will zip and upload the revision later this morning :)

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.

I have enjoyed putting it together. My only regret is that I didn't know a programming language that I could have used instead of Excel (well, I'm pretty sure all the Turbo Pascal I learnt 23 years ago just wouldn't cut it now). There are still some major limitations of the sheet due to Excel, but I have also been quite happy with how it has turned out.

I am especially happy with the Levels sheet and how it organizes a lot of options all into one area. This will especially be more useful once I add in all the APG material.

The way I and my group have been using the sheet (as a live one for a online game) includes switching back and forth among a few bonuses that can change really often - Rage, Lycanthrope's shifting, etc. So I know it would be much easier for us if you left them in.

Any hints on what big developments are coming next? Is my custom Monk of the Empty Hands with feats from Book of the Damned 2 (and 2 levels in Magus) going to be ready soon? :D

Great work. Honestly this is better then a lot of pay stuff I have seen.

Latest Revision:

I added in the attack adjustment for Shield Master feat, however I used my 1st edition Core Rulebook which indicated that the "Shield" bonus is added. This will be revised as per the errata to the "Enhancement" bonus which should be added.

You don't have to do the whole APG at once. You could start with say the alternative race features (which seems like a fairly self contained thing), then go on from there.

Scarab Sages

juxt quickly I noticed 2 problems
1) poison spell description is wrong - say 1d10 con damage repeated in one minute - rule book says 1d3 each round
2) entered gp's but does not show up on sheet

Ceefood wrote:
2) entered gp's but does not show up on sheet

Also found this problem. They're pulling from the wrong cells. Plat is right, but Gold is pulling from silver and silver and copper are pulling from cells that you don't enter data in. I fixed it for myself but adjusting the formula to pull from the correct cells (which you have to unprotect the sheet to do).

Also, if you select Languages that are located under "Other Languages" on Page 1 it shows the language you selected as the cell two cells up, ex. If I select Canto, on Page 1 it shows that I have Aklo (which is the language I actually have learned, but if I select it up it shows as "==Other Languages").

I don't know if you've answered it before, didn't want to wade through 11 pages to figure it out, but would I have to re-create my character for newer versions is there a way to "import" the current one?

Otherwise, a fantastic job, it's like HeroForge, but I feel it points out where your getting your bonuses from more visibly, which is nice when you get to higher levels and you might forget where you got a +2 here and there. The Spell and equipment pages are especially nice.

A lot of GMs (myself included) will 'bill you' (in terms of Wealth by level) for any permanent spells on you or wishes used to improve attributes. Is there any convenient way to work this into the accounting on your spreadsheets?

Currently, no. The problem with do this, is that I have to create a macro that copies and pastes the information onto every sheet that has a data entry area. Whenever I make changes to a page after than, then I have to go back and change the macro. Once I have reformatted the Levels page to accept the APG material, I will probably take another look into adding in an import option.

Thanks. I always found the conditional bonuses difficult to remember, and at least 50% of the time I would remember them after my turn was done. In fact I forgot so many times, my DM came up with a house rule of "once your turn is done, it's done". So to thwart him, I now use my sheet.

Conditional bonuses are an extra layer of complication to the game, and something that new players (or forgetful veterans like me) almost always forget/overlook. I'm happy to hear others are also finding it useful to have these easily indexed at the bottom of the sheet.

I'm not an expert on Excel so forgive me if I'm wrong here but couldn't you write the Macro so that it picks the cell that it is pasting too based on the information in another cell? For example column A has the cell that it is being copied to, and then column B has the data. If that would work you'd be able to write one macro and when a new input cell was included you'd just need to list it on the export sheet in the column that has the cell names column and a equal too formula on the data column.

I understand if it is going to take a while but are you ever going to include templates?

I was just looking at the 75ep version and noticed that the code that showed the custom Feats doesn't appear to be passing it over to the Levels tab any longer. It was working on the ef version which is the most current version I am using. Didn't check any of the other items yet as my system has frozen up at the moment.

Hi Kor

I had a half-orc fighter wearing chainmail have a -4 penalty applied to his acrobatics skill for jumping.

Going into the sheet I found the cell that was responsible, Skills_DATA2 BS7.

My understanding of the rules (and I accept that I may be wrong here) was that it was your BASE land speed that affected your jumping, not your land speed as modified by armour and load. If the latter was the case then you would suffer a double whammy of speed modifier and ACP, which seems a little harsh for me but YMMV.

If I am correct then I think all references to cell_statsDATA_LANDspeed in this cell should be changed to cell_bonusesDATA_LANDbase.

Cheers

Alan

Kor

My half-orc fighter is now having a problem with the tally for the weight of his equipment.

If I just add equipment via the Items sheet my enc tallies correctly.

However, when I start adding weapons to the weapons columns on the arms sheet, it seems to be deducting the weight of the weapon from my total Enc?

(Adding armour or shields on this sheet does not effect my final enc).

The culprit for this anomaly seems to be cell FF24 on Arms_DATA tab.

I cannot work out why you have the 'Modified weapon weight' section of this sheet so I cannot offer a solution. Just thought I would flag this for your attention.

By the way, I really like what you have done with the new spells layout.

Cheers

Alan

To the best of my understanding your effective speed applies. Yes it is a double whammy, but both speed-reduction and ACP can be addressed separately. It can also act to your advantage with the use of spells such as expeditious retreat and haste.

The reason for the distinction is that ACP represents the penalty to maneuverability as you cannot move your arms and legs as easily; whereas the slower speed represents the actual burden. Essentially it is more "realistic".

So I noticed a problem last night with Resistance bonus to saves stacking. I have a cloak of resistance +1 equipped. Then I made a custom bonus for Shield Other which gives a resistance bonus to Reflex saves. It was adding both resistance bonuses to my Reflex save, which it shouldn't be. Obviously an easy fix is to just adjust the Shield Other bonus to not include the resistance bonus to saves, but it's something you may want to take a look at (perhaps other things might be stacking that aren't supposed to?)

Also, I don't know if it would take too much room or not, but I think it might be nice to list the bonuses from magic items to saves as magic item vs. lumping it into misc in the breakdown.

Wow, I must say, I'm really impressed! Great job, and of course thank you for your hard work and dedication.

I do have one request: I see a place for custom spells and gear, but none for feats can you add this? Am I overlooking this feature or has it not been added? The reason I ask is for home brew feats or if I allow a supplement to be used from 3.5, it would be nice if I could add those in when/if I open them up in my campaigns.

@Lex:

You must be missing it - I've added custom feats lots of times; unless it is somehow missing from the newest version of the ogresheet.

Thanks Lex.

Custom Feats can be selected on the Custom page, on the Attributes selection. Select the appropriate Feat type under the Category column.

Currently though, these Custom feats create will not display though (just a small bug which I have fixed and will be in the next revision).
