Yeah, it's not always great for finding specific things. It's a time sink, a constant stream of moderately interesting stuff, and a vehicle for garnering the approval of others.

It's a social network like any other, just with artsiness and social justice.

Yeah that would be the other reason I avoid it, I don't buy into the politics.

I think tumblr is terribly formatted for a blog. It's difficult to navigate chronologically; things are difficult to source considering all of the reblogging that happens.

I'm not even getting into the fact that "you're por gramer iz kewl" makes it nigh-impossible for me to take half the stuff I'm linked to seriously.

Liberty's Edge

I agree. Some people are far too interested in attacking others for perceived -isms. It is also pretty ridiculously anti-religion, anti-conservative, and pro-Obama.

Still better than Facebook :0

Spoiler:
facebook SUCKS!
edit: Actually yeah it is not very well-formatted and the search function is terrible. They continue to add minor cosmetic changes instead of listening to what people want.

Have you seen this one?

You are a bad person.

:)

Had to back it.

I keep telling people that I am a bad person, but no one seems to actually believe me.

Cool. Are you still in Montana?

I'll believe you, but you have to prove it first... :P

Well...I did just point psionichamster to another Kickstarter to take his money.

Yes, I am still in Montana. No backpacking trip, though. It got cancelled at the last minute.

Oh, I missed Bitter Thorn.

Comrade Thorn, I have seen a rash of disturbing police brutality cases in the last week. I think it is time for:

Bride of Government Folly!!!

Do it.

And Mama Kelsey! Hello!

I don't know who any of the rest of you are.

You know who (the hell) I am! Row row fight da powa!

I might know who one or two of you are. Definitely not Ensirio, though.

Well that's no fun.

Hi, I'm Ensirio, friendly neighborhood doppelganger and Eris's plaything. And you are?

I'm kidding. I know who Ensirio is.

Oi! That sounds like a Jerry name! Are you a Jerry? We're at war with them, we are!

Doodlebug Anklebiter wrote:

I can never be sure. Sometimes I change if I get bored with a name.

I knew a Jerry once. Boring fellow.

I'm deeply conflicted about this, but it might be worth it just to have that many handy news links in one place.

I'm still pretty put out that they locked my thread when there are far worse threads still active.

Damn, that sucks. Unless it doesn't?

I feel silly now. We were in Montana when we visited Yellow Stone.

Liberty's Edge

Hey, I've visited Yellowstone in Montana too!

Those crazy coincidences of life, huh?

Spoiler:
Shame you didn't call her up, though Montana is kinda huge.

Indeed!

Well, Comrade Thorn, I was off-line when it happened, so I may be wrong, but about two weeks ago (?) a certain "prickly" left-wing politroll and a certain "prickly" right-wing politroll had a series of epic confrontations across the OTD and even over into the Movies Threads that resulted in many a locked thread. I am afraid that Government Folly may have been collateral damage. :(

But I, of course, am entirely blameless.

(I could also be wrong.)

I tend to agree.

I think your efforts mitigated the stupidity significantly. Alas it was not enough, but I appreciate the effort. ;)

I liked Glacier more, though. Fewer people, more mountains, more !!!glaciers!!!

Also we saw a mountain goat once.

I was helping rebreak a trail after the fire of 1989 over at Yellowstone and we were finished up for the day, cooking supper when a moose crossed across the clearing, ran into the lake, swam across, got out, shook itself off, and then ran into the woods. Also, Yellowstone is one of those places where you have to HIKE in to see the good sites.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You know what's "cooler" than those places? The Mojave.

{pokes Doodlebug and Kelsey with a stick} Hey, either of you have any good name suggestions for Dreamscarred's blue (psionic goblin) iconic?

Liberty's Edge

what are the goings-on in the "down-low" hip

Hmm. I missed this.

Good names for goblins:

Cricket
Gark
Klezmo
Obadiah
Cloots
Phineas
Gargamel
Clarence
Kemal
Lamar
Bruce

Liberty's Edge

I've used "Jehosophat," "Rothed," "Slimey," and "Gengji" for goblins. No particular rhyme to those, though.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Jehosophat is an awesome name for a goblin.

I LIKE CASTLES!

I like Swords.

Silver Crusade

I LOVE LAMP!

Well, Isaac seems to have mostly harmless for SW FL. Some flooding from all the rain (and weeks of rains before) and still gusty, but overall got off pretty lucky. Sanibel/Captiva (and Fort Myers Beach) will likely be pretty soggy for a week and suffer some beach erosion, but it could have been much worse--Hurricane Charlie literally almost cut North Captiva in half.

Hopefully, Louisiana and West Mississippi won't be hit to hard and NOLA's levees hold against the projected 10-12 foot storm surge.

The further misadventures of the Black Goblin:

So, after Tramora III fell in combat--to the relief of his comrades--The Black Goblin spent two weeks making a new character. A female elf magus that he plotted out to 20th level, developed an intelligent sword for, etc., etc.

So, as we sat down to play, I noticed that the BG was already inebriated and argumentative. Great, I thought. On top of that, there was a new player at the table, which always brings out the worst in the BG.

Anyway, we play for about half an hour. All the elves are sitting around ranking on the half-orc, telling racist jokes and whatnot so I thought it would be fun to have some anti-elven bigots surround the table. "We don't like your kind around here" they say "and didn't you used to run with that murderous peasant-killer, Tramora III?"

The Black Goblin cast flaming hands which immediately killed two of the thugs...as well as burning up a family sitting at the table behind them and setting the restaurant on fire.

The rest of the party were all like "Check, please!" but the Black Goblin decided to pull a Walter Sobchek moment and maintained that she hadn't done anything wrong and was going to stay and finish her drink.

So the police showed up, captured the BG's new character, threw her in jail and sentenced her to life in prison for arson, criminally reckless spellcasting, and first-degree murder.

The Black Goblin laughed and laughed and plotted how she was going to escape from prison. The other players were sick of the BG's shiznit and our lone female player even struck him multiple times!

So, I told him, "no, there's no chance, you're done, make a new character." He complained for a while, we held firm, and eventually he went to bed...to a collective sigh of relief from the rest of the players.

Down with the Black Goblin!

Oh, I forgot: she was allegedly Lawful Good.

In the same way Tramora was NG, I figure?

The cells will do her good, and the community better. Of course, if she likes, there's always the axe instead. I'll do it myself if she'd prefer.

The Ruby Lady disapproves of such reckless misuse of magic, and I trust that similar deities watch over whatever world you hail from. And likely have a less twisted interpretation of Good and Order.

Orthos wrote:

Exactly. I was originally gonna have her executed, but at the last moment, after her tense showdown with the police, fed the burned up family some of her cure potions.

I think his next character is going to be a goblin druid. What could go wrong?

At least then burning things is in-character....

I have spent way too much on gaming stuff this month...

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it here before, but in case any of you missed it I shall do so again. Dead Gentlemen/Zombie Orpheus Entertainment are trying to raise funds for a third Gamers movie. There's only about a week and a half left to contribute, so please do if you can.

Here is the link.

Please help.

No you haven't. You need to donate to the Kickstarter I just linked above.
