Game currently going on in the first CotCT AP but have lost some players. If interested please post here! You can take a look at the game under Zoomackulas's CotCT.
The game had stalled out for various reasons and we are just starting back up. I got three player in the game right now who want to continue. A Warblade, Cleric and a Urban Ranger. We are not to far into the AP so don't feel like you have missed much.
I will post the creation rules if we get any interest here!
Thanks,
Zoo

![]() |

Creation rules:
1st level
max gold
max hp + con bonus
no evil
3.5 rules
25 pt buy in
ALL rolling done through invisible castle
Its a big help if you have read through the CotCT players guide
Choose a trait out of the CotCT players guide-just for a little background flavor. The traits were used to give goals for the pc's(motivation) to start the AP. Since we have already moved passed the first chapter I will have to write you in another way and the trait will help with that!
Its also a bonus if you have the Guide to Korvosa. This will give you good fluff knowledge, although do not read chapter 5-DM only stuff!!!!
If you have time read through the game to see what has happened and where its at now!
Once your pc is finished I will write you into the game and off we go!!!
I think thats it for now, ask any questions you have, i'm tired so I might have missed something so forgive me!

O.K., I've decided on an elven necromancer with the "Dropout" trait.
Can I use a variant from Unearthed Arcana like the Domain Wizard variant?

JZ-
The group is without a rogue. I had an idea for one above, but am not locked in to having to play that character. I also thought a cleric of Abadar would be a good fit for this group.
The more I think about it the more I want to play the cleric, I am going to create both characters and will use the one that fits the needs of the group the most.

Now she is persona non grata with her family and she has been trying to make ends meet as best she can without their help. She's desperate for money and is looking for work where she can observe the processes of death and dying up close and personal.

Beren, Yselle and Sarastal, Everything looks good so far! I am going to write you in soon here so check the game thread out. The three of you know each other in game. This will make things a little easier on me!
Yselle, need some background for your pc yet and the trait you picked out of the players guide!
Cheers
Zoo
PS For those who gave me your emails I will let you know when I am about to post the new game!

Yselle |

Here's my background
Since childhood she has dreamed of exploring the distant shores her dear father taught her about. But her mother disapproved of Yselle following her father's dangerous profession. So she forced Yselle to take up the steady, respectable family trade of thievery, specifically "second story" work. Under the tutelage of a half-uncle Yselle learned to gain entrance into the most guarded manors, to disarm traps both magical and mundane, to discover the most cunningly hidden treasure nooks.
Yet the desire to explore the great unknown still burned in Yselle's heart. In the festhalls she learned of Varisia's fabled history, of lost cities and fabulous treasures. She wanted to discover all these, to one day become the mistress of Varisia's greatest secrets.
Having left her uncle's employ, she is now in Korosova trying to join an exploration company.

Here are the traits to use for your pc and background! Everything else looks good just would be nice if you could clean up the sheet for an easier read. Using spoiler tags are a big help with this! Enjoy the picking!
DRUG ADDICT
Someone you know has become addicted to shiver, a drug
distilled from the venom of dream spiders. The drug
induces sleep f illed with vivid dreams, during which the
user’s body often shakes and shivers, giving the substance
its street name. Shiver is particularly dangerous for the
desperate, for its promises of dreams and oblivion are
often viewed as the only alternative apart from suicide
for escaping a dreary life. You’ve always thought of
shiver as a problem of the lower class, but then someone
you know overdosed on the stuff. You’ve done a bit of
investigating and have learned that the one who got
your friend addicted in the first place was a crimelord
named Gaedren. Unfortunately, the guards seem to be
more focused on the bigger dealers. They don’t have time
to devote many resources to what they’ve called, “a bit
player in a beggar’s problem.” It would seem that if his
operation is to be stopped, it falls to you.
Addicted Friend: The addict is a friend or lover who
might or might not have survived the overdose. Your
research into the drug scene and local politics has given you
a respectable education in street knowledge. You gain a +2
bonus on Knowledge (local) checks or Gather Information
checks (choose one when selecting this trait).
Personal Addiction: You were the addict. You blame
Gaedren for your brush with death and hate how his
drugs are causing similar problems among other youths.
Fortunately, your body recovers quickly from toxins, and
you have a +1 bonus on Fortitude saving throw
LOVE LOST
Someone you loved was knifed to death in a dark alley one
night. You were called to the scene by the Korvosan Guard
to identify the body, and as rough as that was for you, you
also noticed a ring was missing from the body. Whoever
murdered your loved one stole that ring—you’re convinced
of it. You’ve done some investigation on your own and
recently found the ring for sale at a local merchant.
Although, to your great frustration, you can’t afford yet
to buy it back, the merchant did tell you from whom he
purchased the ring: a man named Gaedren Lamm. It seems
likely this criminal is the one who killed your loved one,
or at the very least knows who did. The only problem is
finding him.
Orphaned:
The murder victim was your only surviving parent. You had to
grow up fast to take care of your siblings or to handle your family’s matters and were forced from an early age to support yourself.
You gain a +2 bonus on one of the following skills: Craft, Perform, or Profession.
Widowed:
The murder victim was a lover. With your lover’s death, a part of
you died as well, leaving you haunted, grim, and prone to dark musings. You gain a +2 bonus on Intimidate checks.
FRAMED
Someone you know and love was accused of murder. A
supposed eyewitness account from a local fisherman
seemed to be enough to seal the case, but the accused
had enough alibis that sentencing wasn’t immediate.
Someone confronted the fisherman and discovered he was
intimidated into providing false witness and forced into
planting the murder weapon by the actual murderer—a
local crimelord named Gaedren Lamm. Lamm’s thugs
killed the fisherman before he could recant his testimony.
Although this removed the key witness and resulted in the
accused being set free, the stigma was enough to badly
damage his reputation. If you can find Gaedren, you’re
sure you can find evidence that ties him to the murder and
can clear the accused’s name.
Family Honor: The person framed was a family member,
perhaps a father or brother. You managed to trick the
fisherman into revealing the truth with your skilled
tongue, and thus gain a +2 bonus on Bluff checks.
Dropout: You were the one accused. Although you were
eventually freed when a friend confronted the fisherman
and got the truth, the damage had been done. You were
forced to leave your school (perhaps the Acadamae)
or church. As a result, you were forced to self-trainand promised yourself you would become better at your
chosen profession despite the spurning of your peers. You
gain a +2 bonus on Spellcraft checks.
Missing Child
You suspect that a child you know has been abducted by Gaedren. Whatever the relationship, you’ve heard rumors about
Gaedren’s “Little Lamms,” and of how the old man uses children as pickpockets and agents for his crimes. You’ve even heard rumors
that the child you’re looking for has been spotted in the
marketplaces in the company of other known to be cutpurses and pickpockets. Although the Korvosan Guard has been understanding of your plight, yet it has its hands full with “more important” matters these days, it seems, and has not yet been able to
learn anything more about Gaedren. No one else is interested in bringing Gaedren down and rescuing his victims—that
task falls to you. Yet where could the old scoundrel be hiding?
Missing Sibling: The missing child is a brother or sister. Although everyone else has given up hope, you believe your sibling still lives out there. Your constant search for the missing sibling has developed into great skill at rumor mongering and f inding information from others. Gather Information and Sense Motive are always class skills for you.
Missing Son or Daughter: The missing child is your own son
or daughter, a niece or nephew, orthe son or daughter of your superior or employer and one you had been charged with protecting.
The child was abducted during a trip to the market or
some other daily event. Long hours spent searching for
rumors and your stubborn will to continue grant you a +1 bonus on Will saves.
Unhappy Childhood
You spent a period of time as one of Gaedren’s enslaved
orphans. Maybe you were abducted from your parent’s home or during a trip to the market. Perhaps the irresponsible matron who ruled your orphanage traded you to him in return for a desperately needed loan of money. Or perhaps you, like most of Gaedren’s slaves, were merely a child of the street who succumbed to his promise of regular meals and a roof in return for what he said would be “a little light work.” Whatever the case, you spent several years of your life as one of his “Little Lamms” before escaping. You’ve nursed a grudge for the
old man ever since.
Tortured: Gaedren tortured you and left you for dead on a garbage heap after you made one too many errors. Your scars and memories have
honed your reaction speed and make you rather jumpy. You gain a +1 bonus on Ref lex saves.
Religious: You found a holy symbol of the god you worship today
while on a job for Gaedren and, intrigued by it, you snuck off to attend services. When Gaedren found out, he beat you to within an inch of your life and broke your holy symbol. Your faith let you block out the pain, and you escaped his control and took shelter in the church,
where you spent the rest of your youth. You gain a +2 bonus on Concentration checks.

Well I got the Players Guide to Legacy of Fire which I am reading now so very soon I will start as soon as the AP book arrives but I wanted to give a shout out to the three who were interested some time ago!
So Xaaon, Greynore and Dark Arioch are you guys still interested in playing? I am going to email everyone too so they get a chance to join before I open up the game for others! So let me know! I am going to take a total of 6 players but your spots are secure until I hear from you!

Hey Zoom!
I know I am not one of the pre-considered people, but I would love to get in on your upcoming Legacy of Fire game!
Since you asked so nicely I see no reason not to add you! So we got two for sure out of four now. I am going to wait to hear from the other two before I post for more players, we still have some time, but since the players guide is out I thought we could get ahead of the game and get the pc's rolling!

dathom |

Sounds good! I will post the rules in awhile after I think this over a bit and do some reading of the players guide. Its out and a free download so grab it and go..............
Is it a free download...can't seem to find it anywhere. I have found the print edition, but where can I get the free download?

Yes! I am still in! ;) I sent you an email but want to cover all my bases. Looking forward to this. Thinking of possibly going for a fighter or paladin. Haven't read the players guide yet tho so I'll see if that changes anything :)

Ok so we have four who want to play, excellant! They said the AP would be out around the third week of March so we got some time! I am not going to post for the other two spots until we get closer to the time. I will probably invite the alts from my Rune Lords game first before I open it up any further. I will at least give you the creation rules now so you can get started!
RULES!
Level 1
I will be using the BETA rules for this game! Again BETA! NOT 3.5!!!
I'm always asked that multiple times so we will see if this works!
20 point buy in
Max gold
Max hp + con bonus
NO EVIL
All rolling when the game starts will be done on invisible castle!
All accepted material for this game will be from the BETA rule book soon to be PRPG book, Legacy of Fire Players Guide, Pathfinder Campaign book and Guide to Katapesh(when it comes out in march sometime!).
Pick one character trait and one campaign trait! ONLY from the Legacy of Fire Players Guide! Use the campaign trait in your background story!
I think that is it for now, let me know if I missed anything! For now continue to post here with questions and character updates. If the characters are all done by the time I get the AP then the next day after should be the day the game starts!!!

Is there anyway of getting the PDF without ordering the Print Edition through the subscription. I have no use for a print edition since I am currently living in China with no tabletop group to speak of. However, I am wanting to get in on this game. I am thinking either Cleric, Bard or Druid. I'll be able to narrow it down better if I can get my hands on the Player's Guide.

The only way of getting the PDF any earlier that I know of is to be a subscriber to the AP, and the only reason they sent it out early after rereading the email they sent is the AP go delayed at the printer which is why it is getting shipped in march instead of feb. I also looked at the product page and the pdf will not be available until April 15ish.
Soooo, if you still want to play in the game go ahead and get your pc ready to go using the rules I posted above, give me your email address and I will send you the campaign traits which is really the only thing you need in the begining. And once you get the players guide pdf then we can tweek your pc with all of the other info you might want to add. That is the only solution I can see right now so let me know, your spot is still secured until you tell me otherwise. We got pleanty of time before this begins so if you have any questions just ask, me or one of the other players will jump in to help!
Cheers
Rob
PS for everyone: This will be the discussion thread for the game until I start up the game thread. Since I am running 5 games and about to add this one, its alot of threads to keep track(and extra time) of so I do all of my ooc in the games in the game thread. It makes things alot easier on me and it hasn't been a problem for anyone as of yet.

Paellat 'Pae' Silvertongue |

Both my campaign trait (seeking adventure) and my region trait (merchant family) were already in my background story, that was an easy conversion.
It works for both my rogue build and my barb build whichever I go with.
Will I be able to track down a wand rifle later? That's the whole basis for the Bard, is a wand blasting, jackal riding halfling bard.
So if that will be tough, I'll probably switch over to rogue, and take the poison ability at 3rd level from the PFCS, and exotic scorpion whip. They removed the +1BAB req for weapon finesse correct?
