Wondrous items for a blacksmith?

Homebrew and House Rules

My player is creating a legendary item rather than finding one in the world. I wanted to make him small wondrous items to represent his background, since he did put some effort into it and this is wrapping up his personal side quest.

I was trying to make each item around 10k max, as they are for a level 7 character (it's an e7 game). They are gaining some mythic tiers and more gold instead of levels.

I was thinking of an apron that either gives decent fire resist or better for resist but has a penalty of armor check, max DeX, or movement speed.

Also stealing these dwarven forge guanlets, modifying them to be a bit better but I don't want to gold cost to be too high.

Last I was thinking of a useful helmet or a hammer that would useful as a non weapon, but I have no idea yet. This would probably be the least powerful item of the set, but I wanted 3 different pieces the player needed to forge his weapon.

Something which can cast either heat metal or chill metal might be logically required as part of the process needed to forge something special - that could be a hammer. Or a helmet which lets you see the true nature of something (as the glimpse of truth spell 1/day), or which sees weaknesses (find fault spell) or possibly through solid material (as the crystal sight stone mystery revelation). Usually hammers change or break things, helmets enhance perception/telepathy or affect the wearer only.

How about an imaginary tool? A persistent fragment of a dream stolen from the Nightmare Realm of Leng by a thing from beyond who hides close to the waking world? The imaginary tool once bent to the player's will naturally takes on whatever form they imagine (not what they desire) and allows the player to grasp and mold materials beyond mortal keen (such as hopes, fears, dreams, moon beams, and even time).

The imaginary tool itself could cease to exist, becoming a part of its creation.

Don't forget to require the use of a legendary forge, either build by the player or one lost to antiquity.

The player knows about a forge of legend, and likely the only one in existence that can craft his weapon.

I may switch it to Hammer, Helmet, and Gloves, since an ordinary Fire Resistance ring would take the place of the Apron, or a good Fortitude save.

He'll probably need a bunch of other tools depending on what he's trying to make. I'm assuming that the forge comes with an anvil, steam hammer and all those things, but some of the other stuff might be missing.

There's also the question of the material (and fuel) he'll use. It's not just going to be a lump of pig iron, is it?

He already has material (dragon teeth, talons, scales, and skin of the wing), and the forge does have all other needed things, with the possible except of a hammer if he does get one as the wondrous item.

I'm looking to give him three items (rest of party has loot planned out), so anything missing from the forge would be given to him when he finds the three wondrous.

You could take the Apron of the Careful Chemist and reflavor the craft bonuses as whichever craft skill is most relevant. There are also the Amazing Tools of Manufacture which could be worked into a hammer of some sort.
