I am said player..

For context. I have a level 3 Investigator. I am 8/14 days to retraining toward Field Commissioner.

The lines that confuse me from https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6sifn

"Your characters who are already Field Commissioned may still take bonus downtime, and we’re not going to take away the bonus Lores or feats your characters may have already gained."

Being a Legacy character, does being half way to retraining mean I "have" it and can finish, gaining the benifit?

Yup! Same here.

I am having the same, or similar, issue.

I can see that there is a PM. I see the sender and subject. When I click on it, I see it start to load then throws a Paizo error with this url:
https://paizo.com/people/NeoEvaX/https%3A%2F%2Fpaizo.com%2Fpeople%2FNeoEvaX %2Fpm

I can tell that is not a properly formatted URL.

So that link gets copied when I try to click the subject of a PM.
The PM subject link (before clicking) is:

https://paizo.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/29/ajax/VpiHQgbVYFrRlXtq6N2y 1M/0.StandardPageTemplate.1.15.11.3.1.1.3.13.2.3.2.1.3.1.1.3.1.15.1.2.3.2.3 .2.1.3.1.1.3.1.1.3.4.1.1.0.7

I have tried to erase all cookies, with no luck.

I love the idea of a tiny Squirrel delivering the mail, using Animal Messanger!

Curious how its handled in this AP, though!

Only a few more days! I don't envy your decision, GM. Lots of great submittions.

I got the SoM PDF today! Looking through it I don't think there will be any fundimental changes to Haueth's character idea.

Haueth's thoughts on other characters.

Thoughts on Galandil:

Watching another gnome walk through the gates of the school. Wait.. what type of egg is that. Gnomes bring the most interesting things. Maybe if I offer to buy them food, they will tell me waht type of egg it is. Wait, I don't have any more money..

Thoughts on Chirk:

Looking up the tree at the grippli. Then down at his own hand/paws. What a climber! When he eventually gets a better look at her, he is calmed by the fact that she is about his height as well.

Thoughts on P'oxtan:

Looking up at the Iruxi, watching the scales shift colors as the light slides in through the trees on campus. "Hi my tall friend! I can tell you are a bit stand offish, but I wanted to say hi. I wish you the best of luck. I am curious to see why so many of us are here. Anyway, I am rambling. Have a nice day". Haueth is constnatly impressed by the taller folk. They all seem so strong, and confident. This one seems a bit stoic, I am sure he has a soft side. Just one you have to get to know.

Thoughts on Leepo:

Another small humanoid! This one with some of the best hair he has seen. If only he could get his fur to look like that. Oh wait.. is that a dragon following behind her.... WOW! "Hi you two! Do you mind if I talk to your dragon? Or is that rude? I shouldn't assume anything. I am just facinated to have such a small gnome with a big dragon behind.. So interesting!"

Assumed dragon.. but whatever works

Thoughts on Raashida:

Walking up to his.. human.. Haueth is instantly unsure. Is there more than meats the eyes on this. With a bandalere of chemicals and reagents, she must know some types of alchemical magics. "Hello there! On the way in, can I help carry any of your supplies?" Maybe offering to help carry things will help him understand.

Thoughts on Jhereg:

Extremly comfortable with the Osiron features of this human. Though he does seem a tad stoic. "Excuse me sir, is there anything I can do to help you? You seem maybe a bit lost. I am here to help!". Hoping that any experience he has with this place will help this man out. Though from the same country, we are worlds apart.

Thoughts on Malaelda:

Such a tall, thin, elf lady. Holds her self with such grace. At least compared to the shooney legs under Haueth. He can tell she has some innate magics in her, and cant help but be curious exactly how that happened. Might need to just walk up to her and ask.. or maybe watch her in some of the first classes. Must know more!

Thoughts on Evindyl:

Seeing the Half-Elf walk through the cates, some interesting markings on their skin. Haueth can't help but be curious exactly what they are doing here. There is such magic in the air. Can't help but wonter what type of magic this half-elf will bring to the table. Such unique people!

Thoughts on Rak:

Running up, panting a little, to the small Goblin. "Hey! You are my height! How about we stick together and make this work as a team? Small people unite!" A bit unsure of the Goblin, but being nice to something scary can sometimes pan out.

Thoughts on Snickersnack:

"No.. I think it means they win if they get a 7 on that die" Haueth stands next to a squating Iruxy watching a group of humans playing with dice. Trying to figure out exactly how the game is played. Both entranced with what they believe, has to be a scam of some kind.

Thoughts on ZapZap:

Haueth's hair standing at attention, while standing next to ZapZap. Though similar in height, very different in almost every other way. "Wow.. tell me, if you touch my nose will it spark?"

Thoughts on Safiyah:

Standing so much taller than Haueth, the half-orc looked strong and proud, dressed in skins. "It looks to me like you follow Majagua! Facinating. Can I try holding that shield. Its as big as me!"

I like that idea. I might go through the various submissions and give a little thought on each.

Will help me find my character's voice too. Nice idea Zen.

Does look like a good set of options! Don't envy your choices.

For what its worth, my bard will likely take Hymm of Healing to help with healing, if we lack a more "dedicated" healer. In 2e, Bards can fill that role quite well, which is nice.

Thanks again for doing this.

My little one is about to turn 4. We have been prepping her as much as possible. She loves rolling dice. We say things like "Oh look you took an action to get cover!".

My favorite though.. I named out roomba Rovagug. So every day when it goes and does its thing, my daughter will say things like "Oh hi Rovagug", "No Rovagug, don't eat that!", etc.

My wife is also 100% on board.. Going to have a built in player soon! :)

I am intrigued by the SoM options. I am super interested in the Magus, but I really like my Bard concept. If there are some other muse options, in SoM, I might go with that though. Really not sure if I should go with a martial Bard or more support.

Either way a Bard with wizard dedication is the plan.

Again, thank you Ruzza. August is going to feel quite long :)

I just wanted to first say, thank you for doing this. Sounds like you have a good setup on Discord for this. I have been tempted to try a Discord game vs just the forum here. In fact I was currently looking up tools to set up a discord server for a PbP game, when I saw this!

I am definitely interested. I will try to break down sections mentioned:

About Me:

I have been playing Pathfinder for 5 or 6 years now. I have GMed many games, in person, but started doing PbP a few years ago. I have had a few fail, but a few more that have kept going. I am GMing a PF1 game (that I inherited so it wouldn’t die), and a PF2 game that is going pretty well.

I am pretty dedicated player when it comes to posting. I sometimes get a bit behind when I am GMing, but I eventually get to it. Discord will likely be even easier to keep up as a player, since it is less of a crafted posts.

I am tempted to start a Starfinder PbP game. Been tempted to do it in Discord, so seeing how this runs would be very interesting.

Application Information:

Character Name:
Haueth

Ancestry and Heritage:
Bloodhound Shoony (if this rare one is ok. I just love the idea of small pug bard)

Background
Unsponsored

Class:
Polymath Bard, with the plan to take wizard Dedication at level 2. Support, knowledge, skill monkey. With a bit of ranged magic as backup.

Short Bio:
Through a series of strange events, Haueth has moved all the way from Osirian down to the Magaambya. Call it bad luck, or fate, once Haueth learned of the magical academy he was able to keep going south though dangerous roads, terrible passes through mountains, and dangerous inns. When he got close he realized he needed to be sponsored. He tried to make this happen though trying to be helpful. Because helpful people are wanted everywhere, right!? Trying to take care of some textbooks to bring into school, they where destroyed. I mean, it wasn’t really his fault. He tried! Doesn’t that count? He didn’t realize that reading them over and opening them up overnight would have caused all those wood eating insects to eat them all. Anyway, he is excited to be here.

Personality:
Haueth is friendly and up beat most of the time. Maybe slightly more trusting than he should be of people. At the same time loves learning and loves digging through books. Enjoys the joys of life. Really just wants to be helpful to his friends, who he makes easily. Loyal.

Just want to confirm that my summited character Kizia Numbia is considered complete. I am pretty sure I got all the pieces done.

If picked I will make an alias and clean up and make the sheet prettier.

Good luck everyone!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Great! I was skimming a bit. I will likely read through the book fully either if I am chosen, or when I finish Rhythm of War. Whichever comes first.

Outcast Background extra skill: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Added focus: Fighting (Light Weapons)
That fits well. I will likely have a nice short metal pole. Flavored Baton.

Thanks!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Very very interested in this! I was just watching the show last night with my wife. I have eaten up these books something fierce. I have also been really trying to get a sci-fi game going here. Had some not great luck with a bad fit in a game.

Downloading now!! (just buying the full game, because it should be in my library anyway)

--Looking at book--

Concept: Earth based scavenger and trickster. Great to getting around and keeping open eyes.
Origin: Earther
Social Class: Outsider
Background: Outcast
Profession: Scavenger
Drive: Estatic
Name: Kizia Numbia
Description: Dark skinned Earther. Grew up in South Africa. Her accent actually has some similaries to the belters, though any Belter would be able to tell its just a strange Earth variant that sound similar at times.

She is short and thin for a Earther, maybe 5'2" and 90lbs. Among the belters she seems tiny and a bit squat.

She spent hours as a kid scrounging through old junk, learning the workings of small equipment, as well as the best way to find the best things to sell. Eventually she made enough, with a few great finds, to get off Earth. She never much liked it anyway. She made her way to Ceres. She got a job scouting out the tunnels and small scale fixes. Though she made most of her money finding the best parts and fixing them up. Never quite doing it fully legally.

Stats:

12 points applied then +1 Willpower for Outcast
Accuracy: 0
Constitution: 0
Fighting: 2
Communication: 1
Dexterity: 3
Intelligence: 2
Perception: 3
Strength: 0
Willpower: 2

Talents:
Fringer (from Outcast)
Maker (from Scavenger)
Attractive (from Estatic)

Focus: Dexterity (Stealth) (From Outcast)
Focus: Perception (Searching) (from Scavenger)

Defense: 13
Toughness: 0
Speed: 13
Fortune: 15

Question: We get 12 points then 1 more from out Background right? For a total score of 13?

I imagine I could have been picked up by a group for her skills. She is great at being not seen, and for spotting things others do not. Invaluable skills. Also surprising scrappy in a hand to hand fight (lot center of mass and all). Figured I would leave the last tiny bit empty to see how the group ends up forming together.

Good luck everyone!

I think the naked trop is fine. Though I feel like in old sci-fi trop is sometimes an excuse to introduce over sexual content. Which on its own isn't bad, but again it's sometimes an excuse for some sexist things.

As long as its treated well, I see zero issue with the trope. Plus being an android my character won't deal with anything too "weird".

I am excited to see how this all works out! Going to be fun diving into the ship. Will have to get a debrief on what our characters know.

Thanks again for running this. I will work on transferring my character to an actual Alias soon.

Small note. I traded out the infrared sensors for an engineering kit and some healing "potions". Will include all fixes in my alias.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I do know the “all naked” line turned a few people. Worried it was a bit too “weird” or “high brow”..

What is the minimum amount of players for you to run this? 3? 4?

Second skin costs 250 credits. The Azimuth rifle costs 425 credits. Your batteries would cost 180 credits. The total only comes to 855 credits. You should have 145 credits left.

I also bought the infrared sensors for the armor, so I can get darkvision (even though I have blindsight 30 feet).

So the infrared sensors cost 200. And one battery came with the gun. I used Hero Lab to create the character, and I think it's right. 145 + 60 for battery = 205 - 200 infrared sensors = 5 remaining.

I would like to submit C'tikt-6. The 6th consciousness to reside in this shell. This shell was created by a Shirren scientist long ago. 6 does not know exactly when his shell was created, but they suspect it was during one of the collapsed civilizations on the ship.

background:

Since becoming aware within this shell, 6 has been fascinated with their own body as well as other the technological marvel that is the ship around them. Amazing feats of ability that are beyond what is known now. They set out to learn as much as they can about these marvels.

While a young consciousness, only a year or two old, 6 discovered they had the ability to modify the space around them. Shifting useless material into different shapes. Focusing on this ability, they discovered a implant in their shell. This is fully integrated into their body and outer circuitry. This seems to provide an ability to weave the world around them to their bidding. To perform these feats 6 must focus on the engineering and technological make up of everything around him, from the tiny nanites, to the largest machines.

6 is unsure if this was installed by his original creator, a previous occupant of this shell, or some sort of spontaneous growth inside their body.

With the desire to learn as much as they could, about everything, they petitioned to be part of the Exploration team. With the chance to see new unexplored things. New technologies unknown to the ship, or just new forms of life.

I bought items, as a way to have while out exploring. But I understand that normal life on the ship is naked with no supplies. Let me know if that should change. I tried to leave their backstory open ended. I described them as LN, but they care about people. So they live somewhere between LN and LG. It's just facts and the marvels of the world sometimes go above people's interests.

@ScegfOg - I just have a high Int. Starts with a decent list. Not sure if they care about languages to talk, so much as being able to read a ancient manual written in a new language. Not going to really focus on Languages too much.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Ha! I meant Planet.. ie. each planet in Starfinder has a Language.. But pretty funny :)

I will write up my full character and backstory later. Thank you for being willing to entertain this, even after it didn't get much traction to start. Hopefully more people jump in.

I like the flavor you have set up.

A few random questions as I finish up my character:

  • Are the Alternate Racial Traits available? I am thinking of making an Android, but with the Xenometric trait. Which means it looks and has a few features of a Shirren. So basically a android Shirren. This option is from Character Operations Manual.
  • How are you doing languages? For level 1 language choices plant languages are out. What are the common languages on the ship? etc. Happy to go with the flow, just don't want to pick something that doesn't make sense.

Also note, MordredofFairy is a great player in my Iron Gods game. Solid dedicated player.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I am going to link this to some of my other games (I am GMing 2 games and playing in 1 more). Might have others who are interested. At least show more interest, which then will bring more attention.

We will see.

Are the legacy Races an option, or just the core races? The Legacy are in the Core book, so I wasn't sure if they counted.

I don't check the Recruitment page too often, but I find this very interesting. I would love to submit a character. Though I feel like it may not go at this point.

I am struggling to find a good Starfinder game (I am GMing one to a group that seems less interested in Sci-fi than I would like).

Whatever system you end up going with I am down to give it a go. I just know Starfinder well enough and already have character ideas..

Anyway. Color me interested. I am tempted by the idea of a Technomancer, but could go really anything. Whatever might help make the game go through..

Damn. now I am all excited, but worried it wont go through.

Same with me with PFS, never played or read any of them. (Character Submitted: Darian Pomeroy)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I almost posted in the last recruitment thread, but got just busy enough in real life to let it slip by, but I did create a character idea for it.

So while I have it in my thoughts I figured I will submit myself here!

I would like to submit: Darian Pomeroy

Link to Taldor and modivations:

Born in Oppara in a noble family. His father was a Historian and his mother a battlefield commander. His mother's family follows an old tradition of Sword binders. A martial wizarding practice dating back to Aroden. These skills have diminished in recent years, but Darian's mother's line kept the tradition alive.

When Maxillar Phythareus was being set up as the next ruler of the city, Darians parents stood up against him. Darian is not sure what exactly transpired, but Darian's mother was stripped of her title, and power. Darian's father was removed forcefully from the libraries he worked in. Removing access.

One night Darian remembers quickly leaving the city. They had family, on his father's side, in Old Sehir, a few days journey northwest of Oppara.

Old Sehir is where he grew up. He was trained to learn by his father, and trained in basic arcane and martial traditions by his Mother. They made sure he had the skills he needed to survive. Martial, knowledge, and ability to get your way with your words.

Now an adult, Darian has entered the world, traveling to Oppara. Wishing to learn exactly what happened to his family, and if possible bring back their standing. He is proud of his family history and their influence in the history of the nation. With his sword in hand, and spells woven, he is ready to bring back the Pomeroy name.

Slight crunch:

Darian is a human wizard. With the Sword Binder archetype. Meaning he will fling both spells and sword.

Darian is Neutral Good. He generally thinks people mean well, even if he can be suspicious of people who may be involved in his family's downfall. He is taking the Disgraced Noble trait. He is rather pragmatic, is is not afraid of mixin things up if he thinks its appropriate.

Darian will be a mix of support casting, damage, and backup face. The flexibility he has will allow him to fit as needed in the group. ie, if there is a bard he might slip into more damage.. He will likely prepare spells to help party vs just throw damage around.

Progression: Really going to depend on the story. He is starting out with Spell focus Enchantment, but might move things a bit as things are needed.

Notes: I know this is not optimized, and I like that. He does have the 18 int, but with Strength and Charisma being 14 its not the standard wizard build. I am curious how this will work out. Having a not weak wizard will be fun.

Out of Spoiler bullet points:
* Human Wizard
* Sword Binder, so a bit of throwing around swords and maybe a bit of light magus vibes at times.
* Focusing on Enchantment to start. But willing to move to other types of spell casting as needed.

About myself:

I started Tabletop a bit late. Maybe 5 years ago. I dove in hard though.

I have played through 1 full AP and GMed a 3 full AP at the table (one was custom). I am currently GMing a Starfinder and PF2 game with friends. My wife has started GMing and is running Mummy's mask for us.

On the PbP boards I am GMing a Iron Gods game, that I adopted when the previous GM left. I am also GMing a PF2 Age of Ashes game. I have had a few failed games here and there, but mostly things are going smoothly. I do wish I had more chances to play vs GM. Though both are a ton of fun.

I am a software developer, so I spend a lot of time at a computer, which means I am generally able to keep the 1 post a day during the week. I do have a small child, which messes with my weekend posting rate a bit.

I tend to go overboard and create wikis and stuff that often get left unused. I have tried to back down and stop creating websites just for PbP games, though I am happy to do some of the leg work on things like that. I don't shy away from out of game resources.

I think of myself as a nice GM and player. I generally don't get into arguments with people, and prefer to have a long conversation to work on issues or differences. I have had a game die, that I was really interested, because characters were too aggressive to each other. So I try my best to keep things light. Or be very clear in OOC that things are good if there is a in character argument.

Anyway, I am excited you started this game up. I wish everyone good luck. Thank you for running this. I think PbP will be a great way to handle such a social type game.

I will make alias as soon as needed. Happy to share what crunch I have as well. Character is fully built in Hero Lab. Happy to make modifications as the group comes together.

I won’t over complicate it. Mostly was curious to play a small bloodrager. The bloodline choice was somewhat of a random choice. But I also have really been interested in a arcanist or wizard. Level 8 is a good level to start feeling decent with a caster.

Thanks again for doing this. Will think of something classic with a good in world reason to be there.

Assuming you tied that to the Darkland Ancestry trait, perhaps it could make sense. But, on the whole, it just doesn't seem like a good fit. The concept kind of stretches in-game credibility a bit too far for me. But that's just my two cents.

Totally fair. Back to the drawing board. Need to pull out my Nidal book. Brainstorm while at Christmas parties!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Quick question. I am retooling my Bloodrager a little. I agree that the Arcane bloodline might now work great. I was curious if the Black Blood Bloodline is acceptable. It is from the Advanced Class Origins. A softcover book that came out right after Advanced Class Guide hard cover. So it is 1st party Paizo, just not one of their hard covers.

Link to Bloodline

Going to go with the same concept though. Was experimented on as a child. Injected with Black blood by someone. Now I have a small constant draw down.

Would this fit ok? Or would it fit too well to be too "on point" I know Orv is the lowest level of the Darklands. No idea what type of darkland adventure this will be.

Anyway, before I post a full alias, just wanted to check to see if it fit ok.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

No worries. I will play around with it in my head. Plenty of character ideas.

Thanks for the traits. Always a good start for character building.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

OOh I like those.

I know this is a interest thread, but I wanted to see if my character idea worked with one of those traits.

I was thinking a halfing Arcane Bloodrager. The idea is that I was tested on when I was a baby. Details can be filled out later, but basically I was messed with to get my bloodline power to show up. I was actually thinking my bloodline would not have been part of my normal ancestry, but actually injected/imbued/merged with something. It could easily be some arcane creature/power from the Darklands.

Would taking Darkland Ancestry for a Halfling Arcane Bloodrager to gain darkvision, make sense for that trait? It actually fits really well with the story I have for the character.

I do know this is just Interest thread, but I can't help but start thinking of fun character ideas.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I am also very interested! I have some GM experience here on the PbP boards. This includes Starfinder (Dead Suns) and Dragon’s Demand module (almost 3/4s done). My GM alias is DM Nex.

I love the breakdown for character ideas, including the ideas for the characters path/future.

I have some fun character ideas I could use, but would be willing to fill slots that are needed by the group.

Dang, the runes got me!

My life has been pretty busy. More than I thought. After thinking about it, I think I am going to withdraw. I have enough other games I am involved in. My death makes sense to leave too.

Thank you for the chance to play. Good luck everyone!

Question though. NeoEvaX mentioned that he had an RSS feed that notified when there was a post in a game. Where do I go for instructions for that? Right now I just haunt the forums that I'm in.

Near the top of the page you should see a few orange RSS symbols. To the right of the title of the game. There are a few because one belongs to Gameplay, Discussion, and Recruitment. Its right next to the facebook button and the twitter button. Just under the very top right o the page Help button.

With that I use a program called Feeder. There is an app on iOS as well as a chrome addon. It will check the RSS every few minutes. I pay for the instant notifications.

It helps me keep on top of my games, for sure.

How are we doing HP for levels 2-3?

I should have my profile done tomorrow.

I think I will go with my original Plan. Going to go Cleric. Law and Memory domains.

I figure we could always use a healer of some kind. Happy to be that :)

After thinking about it. I think I would want to make one of these (in order of what sounds best to me)

Bard (Archaeologist)
Investigator
Cleric of some kind

Anyone have preferences? The Bard and the Cleric will have some healing, for sure.

I assume its known that we will be going into a pyramid in the Osiron desert. Right? That is info on the store page for the module.

Should we wait till the table is full before talking about classes?

Hello all,
The rules look great to me.
Takes a seat at table

I have an idea of a ifrit Shaman. I think it would fit the desert theme. I am willing to do something else too.
