About Lucija Lal Rani"There is a sacred horror about everything grand. It is easy to admire mediocrity and hills; but whatever is too lofty, a genius as well as a mountain, an assembly as well as a masterpiece, seen too near, is appalling."

Puppeteer's Manual:
Lucija is a screaming egomaniac whose powers have imbued her with something of a goddess-complex - even so, she is not so careless (and certainly not so selfless) as to risk her life unnecessarily.
She prefers to be aloft upon Naghamadi, and when he's not around, she may well be riding another summoned monster of suitable form (and also preferably airborne - her Ring leaves her little fear of falling!). With her powers, she has a tremendous breadth of options for nearly any situation. She will summon creatures of any alignment, and will consider the circumstances and purpose (e.g. she knows Archons are suckers for a good fight against proven criminals, whereas if she's the criminal today, Demons won't mind lending a claw), but does tend to prefer the non-Lawful/non-Good end of things if only for the forbidden mystique of that. She has few qualms about ordering conjured monsters on suicide-missions if need be, although she won't squander her power just to spare the party's thieves and tinkers and such from having to earn their share; however, she has also been known to briefly summon weaker monsters just for some troublesome errand (such as conjuring a fiendish rat to fetch a gem out of a sewer-grate, or a mephit to conduct a whirlwind-tour of reconnaissance). She's not one to stick her neck out for others, but fine art and magic? That's a slightly different story; in the face of, say, a collapsing art museum or a burning library, she may show some unusual heroism (conjuring assistance every step of the way, of course). She does love fire; if a problem can be burned away, that is at the very least a strong contender for her favored approach. She uses her alchemical power components, wands, and (especially) scrolls sparingly, but may start resorting to wands when she is near to running out of spells. If she has only 1 flask of acid remaining, she will not expend it for any but the most desperate or outlandish reason due to its value as a power focus for acid splash. In a trivial fight, she and Naghamadi will head into melee. If the foe is dangerous in melee, or particularly vulnerable to the properties of "Dragonseye", she will fire it from afar, and may also cast a 1st-level spell or two if she's got some to spare. In a dangerous fight, she may start by hasting her party (UNLESS there's someone else around who knows that spell, as is fairly often the case). A group of common soldiers or the like will likely find themselves slowed. Powerful Outsiders she may try to dismiss. She is anything but shy about displaying her power, but won't be casting a spell every round of battle save in the direst circumstances. Haste and slow are certainly useful, but she is as likely to begin a worthy confrontation with something more spectacular, like black tentacles or wall of fire. In such a fight, a suitable summon monster spell will likely be her next act, and of course she prefers Fiery or Primordial monsters over Celestial or Fiendish, unless the powers of the latter two would clearly be more advantageous. Above all, she is an artist, and will not hesitate to make a masterpiece of magic and mayhem when the perfect inspiration should present itself (and her art? Think Giger, or Beksiński)! |
