"Well, I might as well get some food. Kaeso picks a table and reminisces loudly about how coming into town with his dad to trade. "Farming was a rough life, but a good one. Takes character to do that job, I say. And hunting--did I ever tell about the time I got a 14 point buck. . ?" Trying to charm the locals, hoping to glean a bit more information. Plus, charming the locals is good. Make them think I'm one of them. "Drispeera, Ionnia? Care for some grub?

"Ale for everyone!" says Kaeso. Aside to Drispeera and Ioannia "We can afford it, can't we?" To the barmaid, in a whisper "Tea for me, I think." More loudly, "Lovely place you have here!" With the ice broken, perhaps we can charm information out of them, as well as raise the morale?

Hi Doug, Welcome! I'm in Florida with wife and kids, and so might be slow to be respond. If we get in combat, just have me do something impetuous and noble, if you get tired of waiting for me.

Yes, dammit. But why are they partially eaten? That's weird, isn't it? Survival check, if that helps. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Critical survival check! I wish I could save some of these rolls.

"Kaeso's Point. . . I like the sound of that." Kaeso looks around at the land and attempts to see a bit more deeply. Survival check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 He also looks around for prosperous farmland: Profession farmer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 "Bingo, it's so good to have you riding with us again. I'd missed you. If only Norn. . . well, you know. . . "

"We could do better than that, by Erastil! Humans raise animals for meat, so we never have to go hungry. We could share, if we could have peace and cooperation. To Drispeera and the others: "this seems an opportunity wasted, if we must fight. Intelligent wolf allies would be awesome! I mean, would be very useful in keeping the peace."
Male Human Fighter 3
Kaeso begins to look around, but sees that Bingo has already taken care of it. Then, he does a double-take: Bingo! "Glad to see you back with us!" He pumps Bingo's hand excitedly. "A new kingdom! Who would have expected? I guess Dris is a queen or something now--she's never been happier. Not even in a shoe shop!"

"Well, I'm often told that I'm surprisingly light on my feet. Which, now that I think about it, isn't really a compliment!" Kaeso is delighted to dance with the fascinating and lovely Drispeera. Her appearance, her perfume, her blueness are all a bit much for him, and he starts to think un-Kaesoish thoughts. No, she'd never. . . not with me. . . Isn't she about two hundred years old? To Ioannia: "What's the little girl's name? Well, aren't you pretty! Just like your mother. Lady Ioannia, may I have the honor of a dance with your lovely daughter?" Assuming Ioannia approves, Kaeso takes the little girl on a whirlwind around the dance floor, with lots of spins and jumps.

Of course! I am finding my eyes glazing over a bit at all the kingdom talk. Kaeso is getting bored with the details, and wants to go do some adventuring. I hope Mornaura returns. Anyway, count me in, but big dumb Kaeso is going to grin and pretend he knows what's going on. I will try to make up for it with dazzling role-playing.

Probably Marshall, then. Way back when we started, and Kaeso had super stats, I envisioned him as an Alexander the Great kind of character. Since we had to renorm our scores, he's a bit more simple, but good-hearted. Keeping the peace he can do. Coming up with battle plans and strategy, beyond the tactics of hand-to-hand combat, would probably be out of character. It turns out, completely accidentally, that his latinate name and blonde hair makes him out to be some sort of Talderian/Ulfen hybrid. Perhaps all Ulfen, but adopted. Interesting. I hadn't read the campaign guide when I made him up.

Kaeso is stunned by the news. He staggers for a bit, but then a grin spreads across his face. "This is so cool! Oh Dris, I don't care who leads or how you organize it--you know I'm with you--just check with Mornaura, we'll need her for sure--we'll need horses, and a guard force--and maybe we can get some land cleared and get these fields planted, maybe even get some settlers--wait till I show you what we could do with this land!" He's a bit breathless. He startles Mornaura, Ioannia, and Drispeera with bear hugs. "Oh, I'm sorry. That did't hurt, did it?" He walks around with a grin. "I need some beer! Who's with me?"

After eating a prodigious amount of stew, Kaeso pulls Jhod aside discreetly, and says "Um, I don't know how to say this, but could you teach me a bit about Erastil? She was Mom's god, and she meant to teach me, but then she passed, and Dad didn't care too much about such things." Perhaps I can help finish Norn's work, should he not be raised. . . I miss Bingo.

Kaeso attempts to hear what the ladies are saying: Perception check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 He blushes beet-red. "It was creepier last time." He picks up the ranseur and tests the balance. "Hmm. Never seen one of these before. I wonder how you use it?" He looks around to make sure everyone is out of the way, and then takes a few practice swings and lunges. Before long, he looks like a veteran ranseurist. "Could you ladies help me figure out what this thing does? I'd be much obliged."

I could use the mwk chain shirt, the longsword +1, the Composite Bow +1 (since I took Deadly Aim this level), and perhaps a cure serious wounds potion or two. I'd like the human bane arrow. Bingo should have the rapier, even though he's NPCing now. It's what Kaeso would do. As for plans, I'm indifferent as long as we take care of the river. In character, Kaeso really wants Norn back, so is willing to do whatever it takes. What's the Stag Lord's helmet do?
Male Human Fighter 3
Kaeso looked up to Norn. As a new fighter, he isn't too sure of himself, outside of combat itself. "I'd sure like to have him back. I can't think but that Erastil's got work for him. Frustrated with the delay, and with not having Norn to rely on for advice, Kaeso finally reaches a decision. Looking down at the prone body of the Stag Lord, he growls at him: "I find you guilty. Guilty of murder, of banditry, of making hard lives harder, and of not paying the Tuskwater toll!" Then, he jams the rapier hard into his eye socket, killing the bastard. He cleans the rapier off on the Stag Lord's cloak, and turns to Bingo: "I think this might be just the thing for you, dear friend." He hands him the blade. After the deed is done, shaking a bit, surprised at what he has done, Kaeso looks at his friends. "Sorry. We need to open up the river, don't we? His body is the key."
Male Human Fighter 3
Kaeso looks down at the Stag Lord in disgust, then trudges heavily out to Dovan's body and picks up his rapier. He walks back to the Stag Lord. As he passes Ionnia, he pauses: "I know he's not your god--do you know how Erastilian funerals go? I'm sorry--never did much as a kid--mom would have known--oh Gods, Norn!" Standing athwart the Stag Lord, rapier pointing at his eye, Kaeso asks "Any reason why I shouldn't finish him off?" Norn would have known what to do, but he's dead!

Kaeso steps up to make a flanking attack, wondering where Bingo's accent has gone. Strange thoughts in combat! Concentrate, Kaeso! Warhammer: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 2 = 14
Hopefully, again, I'm too close for an arrow attack of opportunity. I'm fighting like a short-armed boxer. Maybe he's flat-footed? Pretty please? :)
