My other favourite bard uses his Inspire Courage ability to buff his allies, which, in to his mind, is everyone fighting, on all sides. Much more enjoyable. FIGHT! OT: It may not be RAW but, as a threat is typically (ALWAYS!) based on the perceiver's perception then, unless the perceiver perceives a target as a threat, they cannot be threatened by the target nor regard them as a threat. Likewise, a perceived target may be treated (and reacted to) as a threat if the perceiver perceives them to be a threat, regardless of whether or not they are an actual a threat. *shakes fist*

The intelligent choice for the melee optimised character is to engage the enemy in melee.* The intelligent choice for the Drider with powerful ranged attacks is to ambush and maintain range. One intelligent choice seemingly surpassed the other... INTELLIGENCE IS NOT BALANCED! :: Spoiler:
Have a word with your GM. Find out what he is wishing to achieve with his 'tests' and be sure to determine the context. Then, kick him in the nuts. Twice. With EXTREME PREJUDICE.
:: *As circumstance dictates. OT:If you want a taunt mechanic, talk the group about creating one. There are many examples for you to draw inspiration from. If the group cannot accept/decide on a taunt mechanic, then your group does not want a taunt mechanic/cannot decide on a taunt mechanic. *shakes fist*

Due to our campaign fluff, the majority of the populace 'know of' magic and the danger every spell casters represents. Granted their knowledge is sourced primarily from government propaganda designed to encourage a specific perception of spell casters. Being a caster is akin to being socially cursed. Casters, within society, are generally lynched, burnt, battered. The lucky ones find themselves incarcerated and quickly involved in a lengthy perceptual re-alignment scheme (system brain washing). In combat, assuming their talents are known, they are typically targeted first, regardless of the actual threat they pose. Hype and fear! :: The results are: Casters tend to keep a low profile - especially at low levels. Casters take Toughness/Survival-focused feats. Casters take levels in other classes. Casters tailor themselves towards 'espionage' style skill packages and setups. Casters who survive to high levels are generally cunning, scheming, slippery bastards. So, in a way, the stories the common folk hear are perfectly TRUE! :: Side note: Some might think this discourages folk from playing casters. For us, it's been the opposite - everyone and their dog wants to get in on the cloak&dagger espionage magickery, the pariah with an agenda! MAGE-TAKER GOLEM! *shakes fist*

I play with two MOD system engineers. They harp on about redundancy all the time. As a rough rule we, as an extended group, would prefer rounded stats than spikey extremes of high and low. Perhaps it's the style of game we run. We regularly include ability lose, typically adjudicated by the DM when certain events/outcomes warrant is -- we've had natural '1' Ref Saves vs a near-MaxDmg fireball impose Cha loss (temp until Heal/extended medical care), Cthulhu-esqu Int/Wis loss from THE MADNESS and, after a character had all the toes on his left foot sheered off during an interrogation, some Dex loss. So aye, our stats fluctuate all the time. On the plus side, they sometimes go up: We've had Mighty Fine Pies temp-boost Con, a 'Training Chamber' that boosted Str/Dex and a 'lingering possession' that boosted Wis, amongst others. We trust our GM's to only follow through with results of our character's actions - the good and the bad. So aye, bring on the ability drain. Bring on the ability boosting. Static stat lines, along with item selection and assets, are, in our opinion, dull. *shakes fist*

We run a 'ROCKY TRAINING MONTAGE' (complete with lovingly-chosen sound tracks) The quantity of time expressed can vary from a day, a week or longer. Only the highlights are covered. In more 'fast paced/constant pressure' adventures - the characters simply don't level until they can find 'quiet time' or an appropriate moment for leveling is introduced. Example: After spending the evening at the Baron Barrow's table the party found themselves in a contemplative state, musing on their earlier (two) days of battle whilst sipping various quantaties of their favoured tipple. The next day, after a sound sleep and a some vivid soul-lifting dreams, they awoke leveled. :: Essentially, we don't like to make the method/setup for leveling 'mundane' by making it a standarised occasion/routine, preferring to work such events into the campaign/story in the hopes of keeping them 'special'. *Ding* DUDEZ I GOT TEH FIREBALL YO!1!! *shakes fist*

Wands just seem... weak. Even the most EVIL DRAMA POWER wand is still a 'stick*'. An EVIL DRAMA POWER stick, granted.. ..but still a stick. :: I have no idea why this should annoy me so.. ..I find the 'tool belt/box' of wands vibe to jar. :: Now, some mon mention Hermes and his healing stick - great! ..but one god-like association is good, many becomes mundane. WOULD THIS FIST LIE? :: * Spoiler:
In general shape and form - not a literal 'wooden stick'. OH! *shakes fist*

Quote: There were two nights where the police were unable to effectively intervene at the moment because they lacked the numbers due to police budget cuts (set in motion by David Cameron's government). The proposed cuts have not yet been introduced. Hence the arguments about whether the decision/s should be reviewed after the riots. The current changes within the police force relate to overtime/holidays and working shifts. :: The majority of the folks trashing the cars (many of which were very nice, very expensive cars) and stealing did not own shops or cars. The majority were teenagers too young to own/drive cars, too young to own/run businesses. The vast majority of the crimes involved theft, arson and destruction of other, richer people's property. :: Hilarious footage of the 40-something lady trying on shoes before taking them and the father being sent back inside to liberate a more appropriate TV. :: Normality is a general term and can rapidly change from one local to the next - when the world and it's wife are doing what ever they want to do, with no repercussions, then the illusions of Law and Order falters and fades. :: It's *fun* to smash things and set things on fire. *shakes fist*

I prefer hurling the dice at our players whilst screaming: ''HERE'S YOU PROBABLE OUTCOME! - TAKE IT! - YOU WANT SOME MORE?'' .. ..then they are obliged/forced to pick up each die with their butt cheeks. It takes some practice but with proper training and focus, and the appropriate application of clenched-cheek pressure, the results are their own reward. *shakes fist*

FLEE! My current bard kicks rump. The little (gnome) dude has done incredible things within the campaign - and he's only 3rd. He's recruited a tavern of would-be-adventures, negotiated fair prices for some underpaid sailors-of-fortune, led a successful strike against a barge trading company and had a well named after him. The combination of knowledge, brains and charisma, coupled with spells like Innocence, Unseen Servant, Message, Vanish and Comprehend Languages has been fantastic. He's very very useful and the party love him - which is a good thing since he's also incredibly self indulgent and spends most of his down time in pricey scented baths with his wooden duck. He dresses primarily in a smoking jacket/dressing gown, boxer shorts and comfy slippers. When asked if his a poet/artist/writer/actor he replies with 'Yeah, sure, why not!' <3 ./end LoveMyBard *shakes fist*

UPDATE: BIFTech Engineers can now guarantee the reporting of events from the so-called-past, referred to as 'HISTORY' by some less-aligned good citizens, may be/may not be a highly subjective experience resulting in seeming 'conflicts' of perception when those involved and/or relying on the process state that this is/was, no backsies. Maybe/Maybe not. Next up: Police reports and conflicting witness statements - TODAY! So, what *did* just happen? *shakes fist*

Good citizens, let it be known that under my gentle rule of iron, all good citizens need not choose either ice-cream or chocolate but may instead, at my fair and prejudicial command, enjoy both ice-cream and chocolate, together, if they so wish/are compelled.
