I'd love to play!

I will eventually get in one I hope! lol Good luck everyone.

@Asmar sure make that archetype. I'm generally not too fond of guns in my fantasy though...

No guns :). Falcata and Buckler.

Also, since it is optional I will roll. I like rolling, but usually end up coming out worst than the point buy! Not that it is the end of the world, but it does limit what is feasibly playable.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 1) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 6) = 20 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 4) = 18 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 2) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 4) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 4) = 17 = 13

edit: Not bad for once. :)

Is Rondelero Duelist as an archetype okay?

It is from the inner sea primer.

Rondelero Duelist

Submitting Asmar Eriksson. Rondelero Fighter!

A somewhat tall, clean shaven blonde man enters the bar. His left eye is blackened. He wears a smile, and strolls up to the bar.

"Xanthippe gave me another shiner! I swear that woman will be the death of me... How about an ale to wash down the rejection?

Asmar says with laughter. He approaches the bar, and wedges himself near the halfling and the woman calling herself Morrigan.

"Artegal, you say? Pardon me for interrupting, but I must welcome you to our lovely village! i am Asmar, son of Bjorn, and member of the local militia..."

Asmar leans in and says...

"Not the most exciting job mind you, this town is pretty quiet. However I plan on doing something grand with my life! I have a bad feeling about this cold. It wouldn't be so bad if one had a lovely lady to keep him warm at night, but as it is now, I am young and ready to go out into the world! How about yourself? What is it that brings you here?!"

Asmar quickly turns his attention to the raven haired lady to his other side.

"Also, hello Morrigan! Forgive me for ignoring such a presence as you! I am Asmar Eriksson. Proud son of Bjorn and sworn protector of the town of Heldren! Now that I think about it, I do believe I have seen you before... How are you liking our quiet town? I trust you have enjoyed your stay thus far?"

Asmar looks up at the counter, and sees his ale.

"Ah, just in time! Cheers!"

Asmar's questions.

Spoiler:

1. The adventure starts in the village of Heldren, a small village in Taldor just north of the Border Wood near Qadira. All characters should be residents of Heldren. Were you born there? Are you newly arrived?
"I was born there. My father is captain of the Heldren Militia. It is a small town, but every once in awhile we do need to protect ourselves, y'know!? Anyway that's what I tell myself. I joined up too. Gotta make the old man proud right? Truth be told, I would much rather be doing bigger, more exciting things! Like pursuing Xanthippe...That gal has a mean swing, but a kiss from her is worth the risk!"

2. If you're playing as a common race, how do you view other, rarer races? If you're playing as an uncommon race, how did you come to live among the common?
"Well my father is Ulfen, and my mother Chelaxian. As far as other races, I have no preference as long as they know how to get along with others. Beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes as well!"

3. What will your character contribute to the party in and out of battle?
Well, I trained to fight in the Taldan "Rondelero" stytle. I am good at bashing heads in when needed!"

4. What goals/aspirations does your character have? These don't always need to be lofty or noble.
"I want to see the world. I want to find someone to love and annoy with my quirks! More pressing is this cold...What is going on? I love my town, and I'd hate to think some sort of dark magic is threatening it. A bit superstitious, but what else could cause such a radical change?"

Actually he may be up to snuff. Except maybe gold and gear. I will check that in a bit.

I want to apply with this guy. I might need to tweak him a bit for your campaign.

Went sword and shield. Plan on taking Feats like this.

Human - EWP (Falcata)
1. Weapon Focus (Falcata)
1. Combat Expertise (took Threatening Defender trait)
2. Two Weapon Fighting
3. Improved Shield Bash
4. Taldan Duelist (+1 AC and +2 Acrobatics)
5. Shield Focus
6. Weapon Specialization (Falcata)

Not sure after that.

Updated.

One spot left? I will apply with this guy, except I am going to rebuild him as a fighter and refluff his backstory of course.

Hope this is still happening!

Good luck and have fun everyone!

Lucent, I know pbp games are generally daily posts, but should those chosen try to work out a day each week where it could be more frequent? If I am chosen, I can post every day of course, but for instance, on Saturday I personally could devote a couple hours to posting and progressing the AP.

Heck, even if I am not chosen I would like to follow along and possibly be a potential replacement should someone drop out. Hopefully everyone chosen sticks with it and progresses the story in fun and entertaining ways! Lots of good characters. I definitely feel like the odds are against me. So good job everyone. :)

Good luck to everyone!

Just realized I only had a 15 point build lol. Raised to 25 per first post. ;)

March 1st seems so far away!

Last update I promise!

I decided to change to a switch hitting ranger to be more useful to the party if I am selected. More skills, options in combat, and trapfinding. I even have a decent bluff and diplomacy. :)

I chose the Guide and Trapper archetypes. The Guide's Ranger's Focus ability seemed very fitting for my character's personality. Trapper grants trapfinding!

Update complete.

Now a Fighter 1/Ranger(Trapper) 1. :)

Learning to fight is great, but survival skills sound very necessary!

I am gonna rebuild and be a Fighter 1/ Trapper Ranger 1.

Might as well have Trapfinding in case the party needs it. Plus, living in the world as it is, I think one would need to have survival skills!

Just trying to figure out how to work in a favored enemy into my background.

(You totally just made my job harder that's a great background and concept!)

I guess I accomplished my mission! :) Glad you enjoyed it.

That is a really good background. It isn't just fluff either, it actually illustrates a character with motivations and shows what made her what she is today.

Personality
--------------------
Asmar tends to act without considering all angles of a situation (i.e. impulsive), and can be narrow minded as far as thinking his way is the best way, due to his father's influence. Especially if fighting his way our is a viable option. This is also because of Asmar always wanting to prove himself. However, he isn't totally disagreeable due to his charismatic nature he got from his mother. Asmar is also much more laid back then his father when he isn't actively pursuing a goal or on duty. He likes to joke and hear stories, and a good drink is always a good thing by his estimation. Asmar is a tad gullible, and can be easy to influence, especially by attractive women.
--------------------
Backstory
--------------------
Asmar (22) was born in the city of Heldren. The only child born to his Ulfen father and Chelaxian mother. His father, Bjorn (54), is the leader of the local militia, and his mother Valeria (40), a beautiful former musician from Chelexia. She hasn't had to work in sometime though, as Bjorn makes a decent living with his position and has procured moderate wealth from his adventuring days. One would say Asmar got his strength from his father, and his charm and looks from his mother, save the blonde hair.

Asmar's father Bjorn had wanted his son to follow in his foot steps, and raised him just as his father had raised him. Engrossed in learning swordplay, Asmar was quite good at it, but his father was really hard on Asmar. Thus, prompting Asmar to constantly seek approval from him and comfort from his mother Valeria as a child. He quickly learned how to gain sympathy from her, and how to use words his father wanted to hear.

Upon Asmar reaching adulthood, Bjorn encouraged Asmar to join the Militia to gain some real life combat experience, and to serve a purpose. Asmar quickly gained favor with his superiors due to his combat prowess and father's position. Still, Asmar's father was tougher on him than any of the other recruits, and Asmar had a lot to live up to.

Throwing my hat in the ring. I will have to delevel and refluff though for the campaign.

Fleshed out Personality and backstory.

Does everything look okay to you Lucent? Let me know if I need to change something, whether it be fluff or the character build itself.

If we are both chosen, I will change the avatar ;).

Though I doubt 2 fighters make the cut!

I am writing a more fleshed out backstory, but basically I want to be a member of the Eagle Knights, chosen by Calisaria Reinn to represent Andoran. Partially for his Combat ability and partially because of romantic feelings that Asmar has for his Knight-Commander.

I built him as a "Charismatic" fighter for flavor, and figured Dazzling Display would be a good feat choice mechanically. Hate to have a dump stat, but I chose wisdom over charisma for flavor reasons. He is of Ulfen heritage.

Charisma is usually my dump stat on most characters.. I generally like to think of them as being rough guys who aren't one for fancy words, but instead prefer action. That, and most of them aren't known for their hygiene. Especially my dwarves. 5 Charisma all around! This guy however, at least keeps his hair and beard trimmed, but he himself is a rough-around-the-edges type of guy. He's not great with words.

Still, it would be interesting to see the campaign if both of our characters got in! Your guy is a charismatic, lawful good leader who values freedom, while my guy is a rough and gruff down to earth lawful-neutral soldier who is of a nation that is basically the total opposite of yours, yet we're both proud nationalists and soldiers. Can't say your guy would like the fact that, while not being a worshiper of him, my guy does pay his respects to Asmodeus, due to Asmodeus being a god favored in Cheliax.

Hehehe.. much fun would be had..

I like Charisma, because of social interactions, but I can definitely see a Charisma dump dwarf making sense. My guy has wisdom as a dump stat, and he is of above average intelligence and charismatic. Thus, he probably tends to act without considering all angles of a situation (i.e. impulsive), and can be narrow minded as far as thinking his way is the best way (which is another reason he would be impulsive.) However, he wouldn't be totally disagreeable due to his charismatic nature. I can see him being a tad gullible, and easy to influence especially by attractive women.

Definitely would be interesting! I do enjoy writing backstories, but I really enjoy fleshing out a character's personality as I play. Character interaction is key for any roleplaying game, but for PBP it can be done really well due to the fact that you get so much time to think about what to say and do.

Rebuilt as a fighter. I am reading over the player's guide right now to get some ideas for a backstory!

Would you be okay with Dual Talent Alternate Racial Trait from Advanced Race Guide? Allows two +2 stat adjustments for a human instead of one, but you lose the feat and skilled trait.

This is what I have so far.
need backstory and another trait. I will have it done tonight!
