In case you already checked out my sheet, I realized I hadn't taken Craft (Trapmaking), so I swapped out Sleight of Hand for it.

The game hasn't started, that's fine

Characters of Chimera Battalion
Agota "Punch" Rockgroin (Cleric)
Vayden (Gunslinger)
Linard Toivan (Siege Mage)

Ok, so I'm in a bit of a conundrum and could use a nudge in the right direction.

According to the character creation rules, if I play a Tiefling, I *must* take the Infernal Bastard trait. Doing so means I loose the Darkness spell-like ability. While that's not a huge deal, I was planning on building my character somewhat around that, and now I'm not sure what race to play.

I might stick to tiefling, but I'm not as sure any more.

So why must you take it? Please send me a link or quote so I can actually help...

"Chimera Battalion, I need to lay down some rules for the way you post. When talking, bold, like this"

When thinking aloud, italic, like this

Separate your paragraphs or info with the special return button.

Roll dice like this: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Chimera Battalion:
Info you want to share privately, make into a spoiler, and label with people who can read it, (guys, be fair, don't read spoilers not meant for you)

If there is anything you need help with, or have questions, ask on this thread, and include a link or quote if your asking about rules.

I know this was advertised as low rping, but good rping will be rewarded

Follow these guidelines, to make it easier to understand you, and also use correct grammar (except in maybe speech and thoughts), and we will begin shortly...

Trying to help him out.

Looking at the wording of the post, it's not clear if the GM is requiring the trait, or believes it's required for a player to play a tiefling. I believe it's the latter based on the wording.

As far as other ways to go, there is a siege mage and a sorcerer in the group, either one who may be able to take Darkness to help you out. How do you plan to use it? Maybe there's another workaround.

Tieflings as a race are rather powerful and the Infernal Bastard trait is recommended to balance them out. If Chimera would prefer to allow otherwise it is up to him from now on.

I am not in a position to look over the rules, and overall it is the masters decision, so you don't have to take it.

Fine by me. You may forego the Infernal Bastard trait. Hope this helps your character concept!

Male Mutant Kasathas Soulbolt 12/Marksman 12(gestalt)

Checking in,

I had my full CS complete, then forgot to copy it and went to go preview n lost it all. LAME.

I will get it done tomorrow, I really need to go sleep.

Dixulri, you can't be any form of evil

Once everyone checks in, we can start.

Male Mutant Kasathas Soulbolt 12/Marksman 12(gestalt)

Sorry, was going off the original post in recruitment that said "any alignment"....no worries, I don't actually need to be evil.

The original post was guidelines. Each GM has individual tastes and preferences.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

I would like to have a chance at changing my submission. Sorry for the late notice, the recruitment has closed faster than I expected. I've applied to another S&S game with the Siege Mage character, which should be a priority for him. The decision there is going to be announced by 20th. If you want to start faster, I can make a replacement char right now.
There is a curious lean towards ranged and arcane in the Chimera group. If it's intended, I have a summoner I can adapt. If we need a tank, I'm happy to play a paladin or ranger.

Well, it's closed to new people. Feel free to post there or under discussion. As to character change I don't think it should be a problem but it will be up to Chimera GM. PM him if you need a faster answer.

Flykiller, as long as you have a character, and a tank wouldn't be a bad idea...

Thanks! Presenting a Paladin for your consideration.

Female Dwarf 1 / Cleric {HP 10/10 | AC18 FF16 T12 CMD14 | F/R/W 5/3/6}

I managed to delete my earlier post. Still checked in.

We just need our ninja...

Female Dwarf 1 / Cleric {HP 10/10 | AC18 FF16 T12 CMD14 | F/R/W 5/3/6}

Ninja? I don't see any nin...

[famous last words]

Male Mutant Kasathas Soulbolt 12/Marksman 12(gestalt)

**appears in a puff of smoke** **Stabs random passerby**

You rang?

GM,
How do you feel about allowing me a little creative leeway with my equipment? Nothing magical of course, but something a little beyond normal.

The historical ninja did not actually use a Katana, but rather a Ninja-To, a straight blade with a razor sharp edge. The blade was made in such a way as to be able to bear the weight of the ninja, who could use it to balance on.

Stat wise, I would say it would be a Short Sword, but maybe a crit range of 18-20, but even identical stats would be fine, as long as I could stand on it.

Also,
The scabbard of the ninja-to were often said to have been used for various purposes such as a respiration pipe (snorkel) in underwater activities or for secretly overhearing conversations and as a club. The scabbard is also said to have been longer than the blade of the ninja-to in order to hide various objects such as chemicals used to blind pursuers.

I'd like to be able to use it as a blow gun, which is common, and to have a few secret compartments, including one where I hide my thieves tools.

Finally, I'd like the Pickpocket's Outfit from Adventurer's Armory. It adds +2 to hide objects in my clothes.

As long as you can pay for pickpocket armor, take it, but the sword can have secret compartments, same stats a shortsword, and a +2 to 2 stats that you beleive could reasonably fit, if you want to use it as a club, or blowgun, it will be considered an improvised melee weapon though

Well everyones here, standby until the master informa me more, althou we will begin soon, and I will include a link, probably on the gameplay thread...

Just want to make sure everything's clear on the choices allowed here. You are allowing her to purchase the Pickpocket's Outfit from the Adventurer's Armory and allowing her a Ninja-To. This weapon is to have the exact same stats as a short sword and have secret compartments in the scabbard. However, this scabbard already exists here. Simply add the price of a normal blowgun to it and I'd say it's fair. In the end though, this decision lies with your GM.

As well, what's with the +2 to 2 stats?

Male Mutant Kasathas Soulbolt 12/Marksman 12(gestalt)

1, I am a he not a her. 2) I second the +2 to 2 stats confusion

For example, he could use it as a breathing rod a +2 to a swim check made to breathe, or he could make it, or a +2 to a perception check to overhear a noise, I think we'll just do these two, unless you object...

Everyone else, this is our gameplay thread

Well that'd be akin to a masterwork tool, which would cost more again.

Yeah, we can just keep it simple, and do it how you said, its fine

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer 1

My apologies for the delay in getting up to speed. Here's my character for the squadron.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer 1

Dumb or obvious question from me. Sorry.

How does one place their info next to their name in the top as everyone else has done? I.E:

(Male Half-Elf Sorcerer 1)

Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Male Human Musket Master 1 {HP 11/11 | AC18 FF14 T14 CMD16 | F/R/W 3/6/2}

Under your alias, where it says gender race and class, any information typed in there appears next to your name. So edit your alias profile and throw something in there. If that doesn't help let us know.

Male Human Musket Master 1 {HP 11/11 | AC18 FF14 T14 CMD16 | F/R/W 3/6/2}

A question of my own (and this actually might be better for the combined discussion thread, but I'll start here). Does the army we're in have rankings or any kind of chain of command? Does our little squad for example have a commander? Mostly an immersion thing, but figured I'd throw it out there (would be kind of neat to climb the ranks so to speak).

Vayden wrote:

That was what I needed. Thanks! At least some basics are down.

It's mentioned here and there, but you are essentially a touch above the common rank and file. Currently there is only lieutenants above you and then the commanders as the full force has been obstructed by a major storm. Climbing ranks is most definitely a part of this campaign.

Male Mutant Kasathas Soulbolt 12/Marksman 12(gestalt)

Chimera,
Would you be willing to let me combine a False Bottomed Scabbard with a Combat Sharpened Scabbard?? The total would be 55g, which I would not mind spending.

Also,
I would like to buy a pair of Spring Loaded Wrist Sheaths.

Ah the joys of the Adventurer's Armory.

Yeah, It all looks in good shape, make sure you follow their rules though...
Dix, could you also put up all of your special abilities, proficiencies and such...

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

I know, I know. I'm sorry. Were I playing pretty much any other class, I wouldn't bother. Playing a Ninja though, I like to play one close to their historical portrayal, at least gear wise.

What rules, exactly, are you talking about? Just to make sure I'm not missing something.

Class features, race features, proficiencies, also, I am usually not a weight stickler, although you should make sure your not over your carrying capacity...

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Right, good call. Sharpened Scabbard is a Martial weapon(not able to use), but a basic Combat Scabbard is a simple weapon, which I can use.

Yeah, didn't think you could use a martial weapon...

Male Human Musket Master 1 {HP 11/11 | AC18 FF14 T14 CMD16 | F/R/W 3/6/2}

Do you plan to use maps at all for your games? I know they can provide another level of complexity not everyone enjoys, so thought I'd ask, to know what to expect?

Yeah, I'm going to recreate the place on minecraft and take a picture and post that :)

Just messing with you, sorry, no maps, to complex, I can say about how far you are...

Wait, I did it, heres your map :D sorry, I'm really bored right now...

Your map

Key (colored squares are people)
Dixulri Black cube
Agota Blue cube
Vayden Green cube
Kellen Brown cube
Pikrak Pink cube
EF ??? Red cubes

Now, I could do something like that I guess...

Seriously considering doing that, just made the entire map...
