What can make this confusing is the the price of the item being Masterwork IS included in SOME but not all of the special materials. Its include in mitral and adamantine for instance.

From your campaign bible: You can spend disrepute to purchase impositions, once you have access to them. Unless otherwise noted, it takes 1 day to purchase a particular imposition; some may also only be available in certain places (such as in port). So I guess this means that some can be purchased outside of a port? And I just looked at the player's guide and do not see the Impositions listed. Where can I view them?

So, I took a look through the Gameplay thread to see the status of each of these items. Here is an update to the list.

- whale skull with arcane carvings; ?? gp; Arhiel had found out that the scrimshaw carvings on the whale skull are actually, though crude, magical incantations. The whale skull essentially acts as a mega-scroll, containing "scrolls" of the following spells: alter self, black tentacles, blur, color spray, daylight, enlarge person, hypnotism, slow, touch of idiocy, and vampiric touch. There is one "scroll" for each of these spells on the skull (and each will disappear when used, just like a normal scroll).
- 4 +1 heavy crossbow bolts; 160 gp; We haven't used these yet.

The Impositions are not as powerful or long lasting as I had expected. It seems that most, if not all should not be used in port, but at sea when we are in, or expecting a battle.

I'll also note that it seems they both encourage and reward sacrificing prisoners and doing so can recharge disrepute. I do not see another way to do that. I'll also note that while we do not seem inclined to do this often, we have do it.

I'll add the +1 morning star to my inventory but will insist that Diana pay the sell price for it, especially since she got the headband recently from found loot.

I just do what I can to help out, Norv. I'm now thinking that I should check the ooc thread in case distribution of items was discussed on here as well.

I really don't feel comfortable sacrificing crew members. Isaac doesn't want to be a Captain who rules by fear, sacrificing men and women who he has fought with. However, prisoners might be a different case. If they surrender, then I don't feel comfortable with that. However, for example, if we capture some of the sahaugin we're going after, then we may be able to sacrifice them since they're trying to kill us and won't stop.

I'd like share my thoughts before we confirm any purchases. I would say that we keep the potions, oils, and elixirs for the party's use. The magic rapier should go to Edward since Isaac is more comfortable with a cutlass. The Svingli's Eye is a tougher call. On the one hand, it could be useful to us. On the other hand, if we sold it, then we would get a lot of coin. I think Either Jaina or I should take the amulet of natural armor. If Jaina doesn't want it, then I can take it. I also think that we should take this time to upgrade our gear with the loot. Jaina has said that she was interested in the chain shirt. I'm not sure if Isaac can take any armor from the loot. If I'm wrong, then let me know.

I did some looking and I can equip one of the chain shirts and the mithral shirt. So, I will take one of the chain shirts. The vindictive harpoon works mostly as a thrown weapon. So that won't work with any of us.

I'm not sure. The one we have for loot is a +2 amulet. Maybe she started out with the +1 amulet or we got it from somewhere else.

Yea, you need to take the amulet for sure then. And you can wear any number of amulets, but only one magical one will function.

So, spending money - I have a feeling that I am gonna need to be a better swimmer so here are some ideas. Lets see how many are available. I believe the number was 75% chance to be available, right?

Aquatic Cummerbund: 1d100 ⇒ 59 This item grants +4 to swim and lets you take 10 on a swim check. This is good!

Besmara's Tricone: 1d100 ⇒ 1 +2 to both swim and Profession Sailor and the boat transformation is cool.

Aquadynamic Armor Enchant: 1d100 ⇒ 66 +5 swim

Boyanyt Armor Enchant: 1d100 ⇒ 60 No Armor Check Penalty to swim

Diana can afford the Cummerbund and the Tricone. Both seem to be available as each cost 2600 gold. And she still has 1000 gp to add Buoyant to her armor, if that can be purchased. Note it should only take a single day to enchant at the most. This is worth +3 to her swim check.

Edit - Hmm. The bonus type for the Cummerbund and the Tricone is the same so they do not stack. Will go with the Cummerbund because I want the ability to take 10.

Gonna also pick up a Masterwork cold iron boarding pike.

I am interested in the cloak of the manta ray (partly because I find the image of Isaac turning into a manta ray wielding a cutless to be hilarious). As for the other items:

So all of these items are available. That makes my choices a bit tougher. Need to think on this.

I have some gold I can loan if you want to do the manta ray cloak. I did not quite have the gold for it. Plus it might be above the gold cap.

Well, it costs 7,200 gp and I have 7,425 gp. So I should be good in terms of money to purchase it.

I have about 1100 gold less than that so I cannot buy it. I will point out that the cloak only works in SALT water. I say this because twice in my play life I have seen someone dive into fresh water with the cloak expecting to transform. Once there were many crocks involved. It was pretty funny. :)

But the 7200 might be above the purchase limit for where we are at. I have forgotten that limit though do recall our GM posting it.

So, assuming Jaina's cool with it, she takes the +2 natural armor amulet and Isaac takes her old +1? Then Diana and Isaac are buying some stuff. Sounds good! The base value for the city (below which there's a 75% of finding the item) is 4000 gp, but a cloak of the manta ray was one of the items Rokan specifically had, so you don't even need to roll for it.

Basically:

Any item I didn't list worth less than 4000 gp = 75% chance of finding
Any item I listed = available
Any item I didn't list worth over 4000 gp = not available here at this time
