Talas Arduinn |
Talas hesitates as he sees Teral holding Vance and keeping him from moving forward. "Ah... guess we're waiting, then?" he asks as he sees the other team starting to run towards them.
He moves closer to Vance, rope held in one hand. As he passes the ogre-head-sized ball, Talas nudges it with his foot, trying to get a sense of how heavy it is and make sure there's no surprises there-- he has mental images of the ball turning out to be glued to the floor, or some other surprise obstacle.
DM Doomed Hero |
The ball is irregularly shaped, and weighs roughly 30 pounds. It is essentially a knobby medicine ball. It does not appear to be glued to the ground.
DM Doomed Hero |
From the sidelines, the Apprentices could see the three instructors talking softly, gesturing from person to person as they watched.
Throughout the training yard, other tests with other groups were beginning.
ROUND 2
Talas Arduinn |
Talas flicks a glance down at the ball. He unshoulders his pack and drops it on the ground. (free action so I'm not at medium encumbrance)
Readied action if Vance agrees to the plan. Not sure if you'd like to handle this as a CMB or what, DH (should it even trigger).
Eythil Dreyer |
Eythil watched as the others beginning to move and then he glanced back at their own ball.
"Get the ball then." He said to himself as he began to run forward across the field.
Eythil makes full run across the yard. his eyes widening and his movements faltering little as he sees Vance grow to a massive size.
Ariela |
Ariela continues her run her hand going through a pattern of motions as she utters an incantation, a pulsing blue glow engulfing her hands as she does.
Move 30ft to U,6
Talas Arduinn |
DM Doomed Hero |
Sounds good to me. Talas, since this was your idea, why don't you place yourself and Vance on the map.
Talas Arduinn |
(Talas and Vance moved on the map)
"--maybe better we just go now." Talas runs to keep pace with Vance's suddenly-really long legs, wrapping the rope around his forearm as he goes.
"You're the second-- and last-- line of defense if they get past us!" he calls over his shoulder with a grin at Teral.
"Of course, they have left their goal nice and undefended..." The grin gets turned on white team.
Talas Arduinn |
You moved 30' and cast a spell up here. That's listed as being after the heading for the start of round 2, and according to last GM post, we're still in round 2
Talas Arduinn |
Teral never posted in round 2. He said here he was waiting until we clarified ours, but... it's already been several days so *shrug*
Round 3
To Vance, Talas shouts, "Eythil's closer! Change course!"
At a lower voice, he says something else.
He runs towards Eythil, letting the rope play out so that he and Vance have some distance between them, but that the rope is taut at chest level.
Essentially Talas would delay so he and Vance could run together, and keep the rope taut for the clothesline maneuver. I showed Talas's path on the map, but if he's delaying until he and Vance can run together, Garridan will be up first. Also Talas might provoke, if Eythil is using reach weapon. Let me know if you need any roll from me, DH.
Teral Saevus |
As his team put their plan into play, Teral took a few steps forward, watching the field carefully. He raised the Omega symbol emblazoned on his shield, grinned, and called back to Talas with a laugh, "Remember - choose the game you play!"
DM Doomed Hero |
Talas, give me a bluff check. Vance, you can roll to Aid Another. Eythil, please resist with Aid Another.
Anyone else would know exactly what was happening, but Eythil has no basis for comparison, so he's going to have to see if he can figure it out in a split second.
Then, Talas, please give me a Combat Maneuver check. -4 for Improvised, but a +2 from Vance's assistance. We're going to call this a Trip attempt with a possibility of additional effects based on margin of success.
Talas Arduinn |
Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
CMB Rope trippin': 1d20 + 2 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 4 + 2 = 16
To Vance: "Perhaps-- we're going to have to wing it a bit, but it still might be worthwhile! We'll see how things play out!"
He flashes a brief grin back at Teral's words. "That's the notion!"
(Did you mean Sense Motive for Eythil? ;) )
Eythil Dreyer |
Sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Eythil tried to watch the pair, his head whipping side to side, confused as the two seemed to dash around him.
Ariela |
Seeing Talas and Vance charging forward with rope Arieala couldn't for the life of her fathom what they were up to, until it was too late.
Sense motive (to shout a warning): 1d20 ⇒ 3 Well that was one hell of a successful trick!
DM Doomed Hero |
The rope snapped up and caught Eythil right across the neck. He hit the ground hard.
Ok, Eythil, you are prone. You've also had the wind knocked out of you from the impact and are Staggered this round.
Eythil Dreyer |
"Ghhhaackk!" was all Eythil could manage as he hit the ground in complete pain and shock. Fortunately the innate healing properties of the field almost immediately began to alleviate his senses and he managed to roll over into a sitting position.
"Aaahhhh."
Garridan Teskarova |
Garridan wasted no time in taking a step away from Vance's reach and then snatching his prized boomerang from his belt and send it spinning quickly towards the large Vance! In the blink of an eye he snatched a second one and sent it spinning behind his own darkwood boomerang. Both of the weapons cracked into Vance with brutal effect and knocked the large man to the ground, unconscious...
Flurry of Throws: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Flurry of Throws: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Free Action: 5' step back. Full-Round Action: Flurry of Throws on Vance... ouch.
Ariela |
Ariela's eyes narrow in anger as she watches them take out Eythil. They'd targeted the one person who could barely remember to defend himself. Well she would see how they fared against opponents who fought back.
Dashing forward she throws herself forward driving her fist into Talas' face with a sickening crunch, a spray of blood and a wave of unnatural cold.
Charge: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 19
Magic/Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Bleed: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Negative energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5
1 Strength damage
DM Doomed Hero |
Vance has Deflect Arrows and wasn't flat footed. That first throw is probably going to be deflected.
Ariela, due to the healing effect on the courtyard, your Bleed effect isn't going to be as effective as normal. It will work during the initial attack, but on Talas' action he's going to heal 1 HP, and the Bleed will be negated.
I think that's 11 damage to Vance and 18 to Talas. Please confirm/react folks.
Rememebr that everyone has Fast Heal 1 right now also.

Round 3 cont.
Vance (aided Talas)
Garridan (threw at Vance)
Talas (closeline Eythil)
Ariela (punched talas)
Teral (fortune/cackle)
Eythil (got hit, stood up.)
Darian nodded from the sidelines. The man next to him waved his hands forward and spoke words of conjuration. In the middle of the testing grounds an explosion of sticky strands appeared.
Everyone but Teral please make DC 19 Reflex saves. The light blue area of the map is a Web effect.
ROUND 4, fight!
Talas Arduinn |
Any satisfaction Talas felt at his plan working was short-lived. He barely had time to flash an apologetic-if-rather-teasing smile down at Eythil for his tumble before Ariela's fist smashed into his face with devastating force.
Talas dropped like a sack of grain, rather surprised someone could punch so hard.
18 damage puts Talas at -1; he heals 1 at the start of round 4 and is now at 0. I believe I get a Fort save vs that STR damage, yes, Ariela?
Fort save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Not that it'll help. :P
Head ringing from the blow and his muscles feeling weak Talas felt in no hurry to get back up and take another fist to the face. He lay motionless on the ground, jaw slack where Ariela had struck.
Bluff check to feign unconsciousness: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Reflex save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
The webbing quickly roped over him.
Teral Saevus |
Teral winced as both his teammates took incredible hits, very nearly putting them out of the contest immediately.
"Playing for keeps, are we?" he murmured, moving forward cautiously. From his belt, Mr. Prickles began to make the same eerie chuffing noises he'd exhibited back in the Forest.
Eythil Dreyer |
Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Just as he pulled himself up off the ground Eythil was suddenly trying to dodge out of the way from sudden and unexpected spider webs. But his reflexes just weren't fast enough.
Vance Carter |
Vance saw the incoming attack from Garridan and knocked one out of the way. However, he was not expecting the second one which proceeded to strike him across the chest. Followed shortly by an odd tingle to that area.
reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
He had tried to get out of the way of the webs that appeared, but with everything happening he was unable to move in time.
He immediately tries to disentangle himself. Proving to be unsuccessful.
Combat Maneuver: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
DM Doomed Hero |
The man who'd cast the Web spell held out his hand. Thedra put a coin purse in it.

Round 4 cont.
Vance (webbed)
Garridan
Talas (staggered, prone, webbed)
Ariela (webbed)
Teral (fortune/cackle)
Eythil (staggered, webbed)
No one has taken an actual action yet, so Vance it's your move.
DM Doomed Hero |
Definitely special. It is quite a bit wider in diameter than a regular web.
Ariela |
Also doesn't need to be anchored. These masses must be anchored to two or more solid and diametrically opposed points or else the web collapses upon itself and disappears. Which would have had Thedra doubled over laughing but such is life
DM Doomed Hero |
Oh, the anchor points are there. No one has interacted with them yet. I'll give it to you without a Perception check since you brought it up.
There appear to be some invisible objects on the field, based on how the webs anchor. It's been dumb luck so far that no one has run into them.
