GM_CariMac |
I'm on vacation starting tomorrow. I may not have time to post as often as I'd like, assuming the site stays up of course.
I will keep you posted. Speaking of posts. I was in the middle of a fantastic update this morning and the site crashed.
Sverixalint |
Ouch :( I always hate that. It always happens when I forget to copy-paste before hitting post, too.
Have a good vacation!
GM_CariMac |
I forgot my book at home this morning. I'll get a post up tonight. So sorry.
Sverixalint |
No problem!
Sverixalint |
Did something come up?
Sverixalint |
Huzzah!
Oh, on the topic of book one ending... what did you think of the idea of Sverix becoming a mortal herald of Apsu when he gains his first Mythic tier?
GM_CariMac |
I think becoming a Mortal Herald would work just fine. It makes sense for your character.
Sverixalint |
All right! Do we want to do anything special for it--a dramatic dream during the night, a daylight vision, something of that sort? Or should I just let you surprise me? :D
Sverixalint |
Ooooo, I'll look forward to it. :)
GM_CariMac |
I'm going to drop out of the Legendary Planet game. I need to cut down on the number of games I'm in.
I will keep GMing this game for you. I didn't want you to worry that I'd leave you hanging.
Sverixalint |
Oh, thank you very much! Hopefully you're enjoying GMing for me.
Sorry to hear you'll be dropping the Legendary Planet game, but I understand the need to cut down on commitments sometimes.
Sverixalint |
Glad to hear it! :)
Sverixalint |
Oooooo, exciting. :)
Sverixalint |
/me fails his will save to not bug you about what's going to happen :D
GM_CariMac |
I know. I'm working on it. It's exciting, but I had such a busy weekend that I just couldn't get to it.
I'll probably have to put it up in chucks. It's a lot of goodness.
Sverixalint |
No problem! I'm just overexcited for this. XD
GM_CariMac |
Told you it was a lot. I'll give you a chance to respond in character, and then we'll go into combat.
FYI: I'm away from Nov 10-14 with no computer access.
Sverixalint |
Indeed that was a lot! And have a fun trip if I forget to say it closer to the 10th.
GM_CariMac |
You also get some things for Iomadae for being a good dragon.
1. Each PC gains a permanent +2 bonus to a skill of her choice.
2. Each PC gains 5 permanent hit points.
Sverixalint |
Ooo, nice. Now I have to make a lot of level-up decisions. :D
GM_CariMac |
Yep. We're officially done with book 1. Was there anything else you wanted to do from book 1?
Sverixalint |
Hit die: 1d12 ⇒ 8
Not in particular, no. I do want some down time for Sverix to get better acquainted with some of the NPC's. One of them is probably going to have to introduce him to the idea of buying and selling equipment. :D
Sverixalint |
Okay, I think Sverix is leveled up now:
Highlights:
+21 (!) HP
Multiattack, so his wing attacks will hit more often
Mythic Power Attack, which is just nasty
Couple more spells per day
Spell Resistance is now 9
He chose Humanoid Form for his Draconic Gift, so he can take on a human form. Not a big deal now, but later when he can't fit in doors it'll be important.
GM_CariMac |
I'm loving the RP. I don't want to rush you to move along, but I also don't want you to be ready to move and I'm slowing you up.
We can do the selling of the mundane items in discussion if you want.
Sverixalint |
I'm enjoying it too. :) I'll let you know when I want to move along.
Sverixalint |
Feel better!
GM_CariMac |
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I haven't forgotten you. I need to do some reading. We should be able to start soon.
Sverixalint |
No problem! The holidays are keeping me plenty busy. :D Hope yours are going well!
If you wanted to give me a little feeling for how long it'll be until something major happens, I could write a summary of what Sverix is up to for the next little while.
GM_CariMac |
I'm still alive. Barely. I've been sick for a week, and not felt like doing hardly anything.
What would you be doing? I'm thinking they would have asked you to clear out any left over pockets of demons, and help with shoring up the city as best you can in the time between the Wardstone exploding and your next quest.
Sverixalint |
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon!
Yes, that's the sort of stuff Sverix would be doing. Mopping up remaining demons and helping with rebuilding. Fortifying places against evil's return before moving on is explicitly part of Apsu's doctrine, so Sverix would be all over that. Not to mention seeing what they'd done to the Gray Garrison has him thinking about how fighting demons isn't just about killing them, it's about undoing the kinds of things they do, and doing the opposite--building up hope, faith, etc.
So basically, he'll be continuing on his path of trying to be the most Lawful Good he possibly can be. :D
Sverixalint |
Feeling better, or still under the weather?
GM_CariMac |
Getting better. I'll have a post up by the end of the day. It took a while, but I'm moving again.
Sverixalint |
Huzzah! :)
Sverixalint |
Hurray!
Sverixalint |
I wasn't sure if I should go straight to Sverix meeting the queen or just have him show up at the meeting place, so I erred on the side of caution.
Sverixalint |
Oh, I should have remembered, Sverix was going to look into getting something made to sheathe his claws in cold iron. What would that be, and how much would it cost?
GM_CariMac |
Let's go with Cold Iron Gauntlets.
All four sets of claws (back feet) or just the front ones?
Sverixalint |
Just the front ones--he doesn't have rake attacks.
GM_CariMac |
That's what I thought.
10 GP for a Cold Iron Spiked Gauntlet. You'll need two. If you want to masterwork them or something then increase costs accordingly.
Sverixalint |
All right, sounds good! Will that affect his attacks in any way other than making them cold iron?
Sverixalint |
Interesting... the question is, will Sverix figure out a way to wear them, or will he be more interested in putting them in his hoard? :D
GM_CariMac |
Looks like we have some reading to do. Unless you don't want to use the Mass Combat rules.
The PCs can choose among themselves who’ll serve as their army’s commander—it could be one of them, or it could be an NPC they’ve befriended. Irabeth Tirabade would make an excellent commander, for example. The commander should be someone with a high Charisma score and ranks in Profession (soldier) or the Leadership feat, but these are not requirements for command.
If you can, ask your players to read up on the mass combat rules before this adventure begins. You can also take a moment here to run a few “training combats” for the PCs, where they lead their army against an equal group of crusaders in a mock battle—any damage taken in these training battles isn’t real damage, and is instantly healed at the battle’s end.
While the PCs’ army is currently called the Knights of Kenabres, the PCs are free to rename them to whatever they wish. Remember to adjust the army’s Morale check as appropriate for its commander’s Charisma modifier
and Profession (soldier) ranks or Leadership. Normally, a commander knows a number of boons equal to 1 + 1 additional boon for every 5 ranks in Profession (soldier), but at the start of this adventure, the commander is brand new and doesn’t know any boons. New boons can be
learned during the course of play as battles are won.
Sverixalint |
I've browsed the mass combat rules, I suppose I'll need to read them more thoroughly. :D Sverix will probably need help with the whole commanding thing--his Charisma is only slightly above average, and he's not likely to get ranks of profession (soldier).
