Sounds good! I guess another option is to just have him grow spontaneously as he gains mythic tiers, since that's kind of a big event. :D
Sverixalint
A random side note--the chorus of this song always makes me think of the contrast between Sverix's current and future states. :D

Heh -- yeah, perhaps! I've run into Lindsey Sterling before. Originally, it was finding her doing violin covers of various nerd songs. (I'm an amateur violinist myself.) One of my favorites is the "Mission Impossible" one she did together with the Piano Guys.
Sverixalint
That one is a lot of fun. :) I'm fond of the Piano Guys, as well.
Sverixalint
I'm also rather hoping that Sverix isn't in over his head here. XD Early levels are especially dicey as a solo character, and I haven't thought it made sense for a young dragon to play especially smart.
Sverixalint
Because he has the Complex Essence feat, with Honorable (i.e. Silver Dragon) chosen as his second Draconic Essence.
Sverixalint
The idea is that he's somehow connected with/being influenced by Terendelev--perhaps a vengeful fragment of her spirit was attached to the scale he picked up, or some part of her power lodged in him when her spell saved him or something like that. So I'd been looking for an excuse to have him use that frost breath.
As he grows, I'm thinking the silver dragon influence will become clearer, until by high level he looks almost half-bronze and half-silver.
Sverixalint
A couple of good (or bad) die rolls are all it takes to make a massive difference in a low-level battle. :D

Sorry I've been so quiet. I've been sort of keeping up with things, but not everything. Last week of the term here; next week is finals week. I'll only have one final in a small class to grade, so life should loosen up on me considerably after that
Sverixalint
All right, thank you for letting me know! Good luck with grading. :D
Sverixalint
Oh, I got a fun size chart that includes Sverix. :)
Sverixalint
Yeah, Ignis is kind of big. XD He's actually not *too* much bigger than a standard Great Wyrm Red Dragon. He's just a 2400-year-old red dragon. :D
Also, huzzah having grades turned in!
Sverixalint
Yes, that's part of the fun with Ignis--how does this creature that remembers the Roman Empire at its height deal with a modern world that rejects his existence? :D
You've got me curious, what subject(s) do you teach?
rknop
|
Ignis could probably get the modern world to admit his existence by laying waste to Tokyo. It worked for Godzilla.
I teach physics and astronomy. I'm a prof at a small liberal arts college in western PA. This last semester, I was teaching an introductory physics lab, and an advanced Electromagnetism course. In the fall, I'll be teaching Inquiry (the interdisciplinary course that all incoming freshmen take), an astronomy class called "Life in the Universe", and a computational physics course.
Sverixalint
Well, Ignis has discovered that it's easier in the long term to get gold by non-violent means, so he tries to avoid drawing hostile attention to himself. :D So he actually appreciated the anonymity for a while, though eventually it became inconvenient, so... he set up a TV interview. :D
His story has been fun.
Neat! My father's a physicist by training, though he ended up as an optical engineer. Western PA's not far from me--I'm just over in Ohio, doing software for a defense contractor.
Sverixalint
Huzzah! That will mean Sverix will finally be medium-sized! Which, as I recall, means his wings will be strong enough for true flight.
Sverixalint
Hit die: 1d12 ⇒ 4 Looks like it's 6 again. XD
Sverixalint
Okay, I believe I'm done leveling Sverix up now. He is, indeed, now Medium sized, and has a 60' fly speed.
rknop
|
Although mechanically he's all-of-a-sudden medium, let's say that he's been growing slowly since the fall. Each day, he's been a bit bigger. It's still really fast -- the NPCs are going to comment on it -- but let's say that it happened over the course of the last several days, not all of a sudden all at once.
Sverixalint
Yeah, that's what I'd been thinking. I'd also been thinking he was already close to medium size--basically, if 4' long is the magic point where you go from Small to Medium, he was about 3'11" when they fell. He still grew over an inch in the course of a week, but it's not too crazy.
Sverixalint
Good to know!
Sverixalint
So I take it things have taken a while to settle back down after getting home? :D
Sverixalint
Ah, I see. Makes sense.

I've just posted a map from the Map Folio. Because I don't want folks getting nervous about copyright, I've put a password on the images directory where I'm putting all images for this game. Your browser should save it after the first time you enter it, so it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience. I'll send you the password as a private message.
Sverixalint
All right, got it! sounds like a good idea.
Sverixalint
Sverix needs to discover he can fly now. :D
Also, I was thinking now might be a good time for one of the NPC's to notice that he looks a bit bigger than he did a few days ago.
Sverixalint
Just wanted to let you know that I'm enjoying the game!
Sverixalint
Eh, I know how life can get in the way. I do appreciate it when it moves quickly, but life is more important.
I think part of the fun with Sverix is his combination of very human and very alien traits. His noble heart and compassion seem very human, but at the same time they're combined with a predator's ferocity and a dragon's pride... and all of this is mixed in with the fact that he's basically a two-year-old in dragon terms. It's a fun mind to try to think like, if that makes sense. :D
Sverixalint
Out of curiosity, what's been keeping you away from the boards so much?
rknop
|
I don't have a good excuse, really. Life is irregular at the moment -- I don't have a routine, and every day is different. So, I end up just not posting. Also, this game is one that I want to do well - in that I don't want to just throw in a post that might later turn out to cause issues because I didn't think it through. As such, it's something I might not post in even though I will post in games where I'm a player.
I will do my best to keep things going at a faster clip.
Sverixalint
I understand! And I do appreciate the well-thought-out posts. I don't mean to rush you. I'm just failing at being patient. XD I'll try to restrain myself in the future.
Sverixalint
I do like this situation. I enjoy grappling with actually difficult moral choices that arise naturally from the circumstances (as opposed to the rather forced substitutes that often show up when difficult choices are deliberately introduced in a game).
Sverixalint
No, but he does have Blindsense 30', if it matters. After struggling with some magical darkness earlier, I chose it for his first Draconic Gift.
Sverixalint
This adventure has not delayed on confronting Sverix with hard-to-see enemies. :D
Sverixalint
That's not a complaint, to be clear, just a comment. (I just realized it could have been viewed as a complaint.)
Sverixalint
Indeed. :) I'm quite pleased with the Draconic Exemplar class. But I probably wouldn't play it with non-dragons, because I do feel like it'd probably outshine the humanoids.
But... that's kind of what dragons do. :D
Sverixalint
I figure it's rather late in the day after all that's happened.
