can someone please tell me why you are arguing like this? o.O
It's less actual arguing and more alleviating the mood. There exists a type of joke called a "Yo Momma..." joke, where you are insinuating an insult towards another person's mother. At one point it was an actual insult I believe, but generally those involved have never actually met the other person's mother. The intention is to simply top the other person's insult. We have taken it a step further in the direction of hilarity by adding in game puns, such as insulting a gnome for having a small nose (when traditionally gnomes have larger noses), or a Golarion elves height (since Golarion elves are taller than humans).
Straehan. |
The other joke here is that Spiral (jokingly) said that if we fight, she'll upgrade the monsters to CR +2. Sparrow wisely decided that upgraded monsters means more experience and treasure... so we are pretending to fight.
We are just playing. Sparrow knows I worship the quicksand I'd readily push her into... if only to make Strae appear taller. ;P
Sparrow Seacutter |
Oh yea, forgot that part. Gotta keep going. And love the illithid reference (I Wants in Pathfinder, stupid WotC IP nonsense).
Yo Momma so old, her AC is in the negatives!
Straehan. |
Daaaaaaamn... That could be a joke in two ways. A) My Momma is so old on the age chart that all her stats are pathetic, and/or B) (a nod to the THAC0) table that she's was there when D&D was born. :) Of course, I was there too. :p
Uh... Well your Momma is so skinny that your daddy picks locks with her legs and gets a +2 bonus at it!
Straehan. |
Mmmm... Crunchy thacos. Ha!
Kaddoc, well your momma's breath smells so bad, she passes for a Catoblepas.

OK, update time.
First: now that we've run through one side-treck I will allow anyone to do any rebuilding they think they might need right now. ANY rebuilds must be done before 2nd level.
If you want to use any 3rd party material, including spells, even that on d20pfsrd, let me check it first. Any further usage of 3pp material without stating upfront that you're using it will result in that material being banned. I hate being lied to, even by omission.
That said, I do accept all out of playtest Dreamscarred Press material so anyone using anything from that system may upgrade if they wish.
Second: as a result of some ongoing debates and decisions, I am creating/authorising a new feat for divine casters; Divine Strike. It functions exactly like Arcane Strike, the only difference being you must cast divine spells rather than arcane.
Any questions?
Any issues?
Thirdly: due to Amazon being it's usual $#!+ related to Pathfinder and Paizo material, my date for receiving the module is now uncertain. As a result, I'm going to move to a second side-treck, which will end in you all arriving back in town the day before the Swallowtail Festival and the dedication of the new Cathedral. At this point the team with Das has dropped him off with Father Zanthus to bury his son and is reporting to the Garrison to speak to Sheriff Hemlock, and the group at the Kaijitsu manor has likewise finished up and is arriving there as well.
We will pick up in the Sheriff's office tomorrow at 6 AM EST US.
Hopefully the DM will be in a better mood, too. ;)

Thanks for the update, Ninja! If I wasn't saving for Gencon right now, I'd just buy you the PDF, lol.
Ryu Kaijitsu |
Ninja, I am bit unsure on how the ingame time/space situation is now, earlier I was told by NPC(s) to have a representation for the Phoenix Order present at the cathedral dedication at least, now, does that mean Ignatius will be there? Or was something changed?

Alkaid wrote:I think Mithral is out of the question, just Cold Iron and Silver for weaponsand how come mithral is out of question while cold iron or silver is not? I didn't see a mention we can have special material gear to begin with, armor is cheaper than weapons anyway O.o
Simple price/cost
Light armor made of Mithral +1,000gp
Medium armor made of Mithral +4,000gp
Light Silver Weapons +20 gp
1-Hand Silver Weapons +90 gp
Cold Iron is double the price of the weapon, and when it gets upgraded to magical you add +2000gp once.
Ryu Kaijitsu |
yep, seems like I am still used to non-Pathfinder things, as example I don't even care about mithral anymore due to need for additional armor proficiency feat, unless there is a way to remove the last -1 modifier a mithral breastplate would have to make it zero, maybe with enchantment?
Straehan. |
If anyone needs an extra piece of masterwork gear, Cilyanka does not wear armor and would gain no benefit from a masterwork weapon.
I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Strae doesn't even carry a weapon. I suppose I should keep something as a backup weapon that does piercing/slashing. If Ruby works out to be something like an Animal Companion... I'm highly tempted to get her a Masterwork collar so I can get it tricked out later. :) I'm thinking an Amulet of Natural AC with permanent Mage Armor on top of it. Can't have my buddy getting hurt. LOL
Alkaid |
Strae, she's a mastiff (not the coonhound I'd originally linked to, so) yes, trainable & rideable for a small being
Also, rethinking on the roll for treasure: since there was no treasure in the ruins, this is your treasure. MW items are automatically available, the roll is for special materials, which will cost just the price of the material.
Sparrow, it's around 3 pm.
So how would you deal with expensive materials,
someone could claim Adamantine Full plate and then try to sell it back later.I think a limit in material price would be recommended.
like no more than 1000gp in materials.
so someone can get a mithral chain shirt of 1100gp.
or a few weapons made of other materials.
Alkaid |
question:
so do I understand correctly we rolled then for having an existing special material masterwork item then?
I don't get how pricing works though, does it mean we will have to pay half price for it as when crafting?
yes we rolled to get a master work items made of special materials.
we'll be ignoring crafting for now, as we don't have the in game time for it.
Let's Keep questions in the Discussion thread as that is what it's there for
Sparrow Seacutter |
About to head to work. Spiral, this is what I would like to do before tonight, let me know if any is not possible or available.
- Take 300gp for reward
- Buy scroll of Mirror Image (to scribe into book in two levels, or well emergency)
- Buy 20 Blunt Arrows
- Buy 20 Flight Arrows
- Buy 20 Whistling Arrows
- Spend 2 hours scibing a scroll of Mage Armor
Brindolfin Cloudcap |
We all are trying to be difficult with our reward.
Brin wants giant size half plate (600gp normal cost - do not know what % increase to make it half-giant sized). I was hoping to order a suit of giant-sized half plate and use 300 gp as down payment.
Ruby the True |
Groow woof snort drool aHHHwwooo :snork:
Trying to avoid a solo quest here, so I figure you can tell me what is possible and we can gloss over it in the main thread. What I'd like to do is:
(a) See if anyone in town can train Ruby as a riding dog immediately and the cost involved. I'll be happy to throw points into Handle Animal at next level but, for the moment, it seems a reality stretch to re-jigger Strae to do it.
(b) See who can create a saddle for her in town, how long it will take, and how much it will cost.
(c) Pick up some canine 'saddlebags', or have them made, so Ruby can carry her own food.
(d) Pick up some travel food for Ruby.
My goal here (if possible) is to get Ruby up to speed so I can ride her on the next adventure. Otherwise, the group is slowed to my 20' move base OR I'm going piggy-back (which could make for some interesting RP I suppose).
Strae has 26 GP to make all this happen so it might be utterly impossible. Just let me know.
Kaddoc the Grey |
That's probably best.
No more than 1000gp in additional material costs, then.
@DM: So now I'm confused, we can mithral weapons or whatever if we want? Because if that's the case, I'll do that, sell it to someone else, buy another mwk weapon and pocket the difference.
@Brindolfin: Half-giants are medium creatures
Brindolfin Cloudcap |
Well that is the tricky part, Brin is not technically large. Hence the dilemma. Do not know if 100%, 125% or 150% base cost is appropriate for a half giant. Anyway, I'll order a set of mwork agile half plate at 300gp+850gp times(multiplier for halfgiant).
1d100 ⇒ 74
Biter |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I believe the d100 roll is to see if he has the item you desire in a special material, though whatever you choose will need to fall under the 1000g limit.
which shoiuld eliminate most mithral options.
Now, for Biter's choice!
WARNING! needless narrative incoming…
Biter ambles through the display section of the man's smith, ignoring most of everything as solidly as he ignores the man. The first weapon he picks up is what appears to be a halfling lance. After a few ineffectual running charges at no enemy you can see, he gives it a sniff and tosses it down on the ground. Next he picks up -- of all things -- a stray piece of lumber that seems to have fallen off of a chair. The fact that its scrap wood seems lost on the tiny warrior as he hefts it a few times, appraising its weight and balance. Seemingly somewhat happy, the warrior shifts into a crude little combat stance, quickly spinning into a slightly comical but still deadly-looking dervish dance. Jumping, swinging, weaving, diving, and stabbing, its' quite a sight… and it culminates with the warrior landing a powerful blow on the corner of the anvil. The piece of wood shatters. With a grunt of annoyance, he keeps looking.
Finally his red eyes seem to find what they seek, and the goblin spider-climbs up the leg of a work-benchl He stalks over to pick up a long-bladed, human-sized hand-and-a-half sword that hides in a corner. It looks like it could have been one of Das's prized creations at some point -- possibly created to be sold for a high price to some adventuring noble-man -- but now its sole purpose seems to be to keep a handful of hand rags from falling onto the floor. Biter tosses the rags and draws out the blade. He grins at its weight and balance, running two fingers along the still-sharp edge of its long blade. His grin deepens as he regards the pommel, two red eyes staring at the stylized face of a wolf whose gold-inlaid eyes stare hungrily back.
Biter's shark grin shifts over to the smith, and Biter spins to present the blade. "Canning Drunking Man changing the grip on Wolf Claw before Biter is'ing to leave in the morning?"
----
Biter'll take a Mwk small great sword -- flavor-wise, though,it's a human-sized bastard sword with a pommel with some wolf-embellishments on it. :)
Ryu Kaijitsu |
sorry, was asleep when I posted in the game thread earlier
also confused=me again: I believed that we can roll for a single masterwork special material equipment and not multiple ones, and how is the cost calculated now, is anything above 1000 denied, or does it mean anything costs 1000 less?
Brindolfin Cloudcap |
Brin thanks Cilyanka and takes a spare suit of armor.
Not that Ninja would be mean, but I had a DM that loved to dump us in acid traps that destroyed our armor.
The_Ninja_DM |
You get one MW item. If you made the roll, ie rolled under 25%, you have the option to order an item made for a special material, such as mithril. You must pay the additional cost over the item + MW cost to gain it. The additional cost cannot be over 1000 gp.
Example:
A longsword has a base cost 15 gp. Making it masterwork adds 300 gp for a total cost of 315 g if purchased normally. This part is free as it counts as the treasure form the island. If you wanted it to be made from mithral you would have to pay the cost of the mithral to make it. If the total cost for the mithral to make it is over 1000g, you can't order it/obtain it at this time.
Also if you made the roll and have the gp to pay the additional cost, you can find and obtain the item now.

Okay, three questions for Mai.
1) Do you mean Onee-sama?
2) Mai. Yuri?

Mirror Image is available for purchase, as well.
