Maermana |
I don't think its a troll. Its just a giant who wanted to join the trolls.
"Fine, fine. You're likely right. Still, it'd be good to know what exactly a tribe of trolls are doing in this area, yes?"
Maermana walks a little closer to the giant 20', outside of his reach and calls out again. "Do you have a name? I am Maermana. Would you mind telling us what these trolls were doing?"
Riva Sarjenka |
Going to try and get the giant some new guff friends with a fun little trick.
"They will be sorely disappointed then. That dragon has been bleeding our city dry for some time now. They'd get far more shinnies by going after her hoard--not to mention the hundreds of succulent cattle we've been forced to supply her with."
In a more motherly tone, Riva adds, "You really should be more careful; drinking too much can cause a person to suddenly go blind--even one as tough and fearsome as you. I suppose you needn't worry about that though, not as long as you have a friends like us. I'm something of a healer, you see, and have been treating such afflictions in the reckless youth of our city for some time."
Bluff check: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32
"Though we've introduced ourselves, I don't believe we've had the pleasure of getting your name, fearsome giant."
Once we're all done talking and leave, Riva will blind the giant from afar (well out of ear shot), then get the information she needs from him about his associates. If he truly doesn't know anything more as he claims, we can still ingratiate him to us by helping to "cure" his blindness. If he betrays us, I'm also hoping he will serve as a tool to turn the trolls against the dragon.
Riva Sarjenka |
"Indeed! The craters about certainly prove that beyond all doubt! I'm afraid we have to be going now though, we still have a great deal of geological surveying to do. It was a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Muunguk, the magnificent and strong! Please do visit Allania some time when you've had a little less to drink. I'm sure you will find many new friends there." Riva scribbles a note, before handing it to Munguk. "Give this to anyone in Allania's watch. They will recognize it as token from me. It will allow you safe passage through our borders, provided you cause no undo harm. Just don't bring any of those trolls--we have no desire to know anyone unkind enough to treat Mighty Munguk so poorly." Riva then curtsies respectfully and turns to leave with her companions.
When she is well out of ear shot, looking down upon Munguk from a nearby hillside, and there she suddenly takes pity upon him and decides not to curse him after all.
Unless you all feel we really should.
Toran Silvercloak |
Toran would probably be against the idea, unless he could clearly gain from it. Do we have to do anything with him to explore the hex? If not, I say we leave him alone.
Toran Silvercloak |
Toran takes the map and tucks it into his pack, "Thank you, good sir! I hope all goes well for you, have a good day."
Do you guys use xp, I've never used it before, how does that work?
Riva Sarjenka |
When you accomplish goals, slay monsters, or learn from your terrible mistakes, you generally earn XP. You add up all the XP you've ever earned and once you reach a certain point, you level up. According to my notes, the party had 13,425 XP of the 15,000 XP we needed to get to level 5.
So... 13,425 + 1,225 = 1,4650 XP. So close. You can find the XP Table here.
The intrepid adventurers rest for a while, then move on to the next area. (Which hex guys?)
Toran Silvercloak |
So do we each have our own xp counts? In which case do those of us who just entered the campaign start at 0?
If we have time to rest, I'd say that we should go back and deal with the plant.
Riva Sarjenka |
"I think that about covers our trip this week, though I say we should extend our journey. There is still much out here we don't understand."
I say we go to J38, and move our way up the Kamelands text on the map (around I37 where that plant is) until we are back in known territory. This may cut into the next month's downtime, but we can spare the extra time, will have explored quite a bit, and are bound to gain enough XP to level up to level 5.
Alternatively, we could investigate that troll band, but I fear we aren't up to it just yet.
Maermana |
"Agreed. The more we know about the lands to our south, the better we will be when it comes to expand. We need a way to grow the population and more land with farms will help. Let us keep exploring the Kamelands south of the kingdom?"
I like that idea, I'm up for it. The trolls are..yeah. Let's not fight trolls when we struggle with a single plant.

Exploring J38
You find Half-collapsed, rotting wooden buildings stand on each bank where the Shrike River branches off of the Little Sellen River. The buildings have been used as lairs by kobolds, mites, and even a few groups of bandits in the past, but currently the yare is unoccupied.
If the you establish a city here, the abandoned ferry station grants a free Pier to the city.
Also gain 25 exp for exploring and clearing the hex.
Riva Sarjenka |
"With some luck, Mr. Munguk really does have difficulty keeping secrets and will inform his troll associates about us and our Kingdom's empty treasury in the hopes of raising his stature with them. If they go after Lady Greengrass' hoard, it ought to buy us time to build up a military force capable of withstanding them should they ever decide to come to Allania." And if not, we may be able to take the fight to them as a test of our new military might. "Gods willing, the dragons and trolls might even destroy one another, solving the problems for us. I say this now: 'There is no power greater than that of the spoken word.' That is something your predecessor Rory never seemed to understand."

After searching the area for treasure, we move on to I39.

Round 1
Aer will try to catch as many as she can inside of a pit, making sure not to target any squares (including in its edges) where her allies are standing. Create Pit, 10x10 pit with sloped edges. DC 17 or any boars targeted take 1d6 ⇒ 3 damage and are in a pit for 4 rounds.
"Tsk, a bunch of animals daring to impede us?"
Her guardian takes a silent step forward before charging into the foe facing Toran. His eyes seem to glow with an intense, white inner fire as his hair flows behind him in the wind. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 for 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 3) + 9 = 15 damage.
Riva Sarjenka |
"I suspect these animals may be sick."
Riva casts magic missile upon the weakest looking boar, hoping to take it out of the fight.
"Silver light,
shining bright,
slay thy foe,
with arcane might!"
Magic missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
She then moves back and away from them, using her allies to break possible charge lanes.
Valak Steelspike |
They are not within reach all I could do was move.

Toran hit one boar1 that Riva hits it again it seems like if should be down but is not. Then Mallichatti cuts another boar2 so badly it seems it should be done but it keeps going.

Spend 1 point of arcane reservoir to activate my See Magic ability
Knowledge: Arcana check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Due to See Magic, the check above cannot get lower than 15 on the die roll. Ignore the roll if it is lower than that.
"Please keep your distance. I suspect these beasts may have been fouled somehow."
Maermana |
Aer walks to the edge of the pit and waves a hand at the pit. Ragathiel disappears with a flash of white light and a silver-furred wolf appears beside the boar. With a growl, it lunges forward and starts savaging the animal. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 and if attack hits: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 v CMD for a trip.

"Doubtful. Wild boars aren't known for their intelligence or habit of avoiding those who infringe on their feeding grounds, are they?"
Which is something Riva should probably know, but the GM never answered my question clearly, saying only that they were "foaming at the mouths"--generally a sign of rabies. Did anyone take damage from a boar? If so, the battle may not yet have begun.
Riva Sarjenka |
Riva you defiantly see signs of rabies.
Valak make a fort check.
I defy the possibility of failure! Lives may be at risk! There! Rabies! lol.
The source of the rabidity doesn't appear to be magical then?
"Bah! Blasted pigs! I haven't been blessed with any disease fighting spells or knowledge. Let's hope I don't start foaming at the mouth...unless we are in battle, that is just a normal reaction."
"Surely you are blessed with abilities that allow you to delay such afflictions at least? One with martial talent such as yours cannot possibly be granted only the abilities of a mere novice within the mighty faith of Angradd!"
