In general, I have been wanting to run a PbP for a while now. However, (in the interest of being transparent):
1. Experience: I haven't ran a PbP before. (I was planning on starting with a Module, not a full Adventure Path.) I have not GMed very many RL games either, I am not an experienced GM
2. Time: Between my family (especially my son), my job, and my studies, there will be some weeks over the next few years where my time will be very constrained. I assume this is standard for a long running game, however.
3. Mapping: I am waiting for the Game Space to be released, to see if that would be helpful in PbP format. I don't think putting up Paizo's images (maps) on third party sites works in regards to copyright.
4. Story: While I have not read the books yet, I do have them on my shelf. It would take me a little time to read the first one, and a while to find time to get through all six.
I would be open to GMing, but it would take me a little time to get into it.

Nix - the way I have been doing the maps is to use Google Docs. You can always delete a map once a combat is over. I understand the copyright issue, but since almost every campaign that I am in on the Paizo site uses maps and most of these are scans of Paizo maps, I think that they have essentially authorized posting the maps for the use in PbP games for this limited purpose.
I am running my first PbP at present as well. I understand the family issues and the time constraints. Personally, a week off here and there is usually not a problem as long as you, and we, are fairly consistent the rest of the time. PbP start to lag not because of occasional gaps, but rather when the players and DM start to post less than once per day on a regular basis. At least, that is my opinion.

GM Poisonblade. As I mentioned earlier. Read through a couple of longer running threads, and their OOC. Drama comes and goes. Some people like to make everything blow up. Others are rule gurus. If there is a question about how the game is being run, it is discussed and either the GM changes, he does not change, and in rare occasions, someone decides that he/she cannot accept the decision of the GM or the majority, and leaves or is asked to leave. This is just the way of PbP, but for those of us unable to get to a tabletop game because of time/family/location restrictions, it is a good and fun surrogate.

For the rest of you, I will probably post a DM recruit thread over the weekend if I have not heard back from anyone before that. Sorry for the delay.

It's also worth noting that it takes time to develop a group culture, as different people have different styles they are looking for in a game. In a PbP, it is even more complicated to build a good group due to the lack of non-verbal cues; It is extremely difficult to convey mood accurately through PbP.

I do have an interest in taking over. I have another 25 pages of the adventure section in the first book to read, then 5 pages on the NPC passengers. Plus some time to handle the maps.

Nix - thanks. I will hold off on searching for a new DM then.
Would you like me to create a recruitment thread, then you can have your own one and we can start from there. Or you could create the thread and I can run the recruitment if you want 1 or 2 more players. Really depends on whether you are looking for 4, 5 or 6 players.
