Prof. Proton: Totally a Goldie, and totally a clone of robot imposter of the original who was discovered after his evil alternate self kidnapped him, drugged him, and subsequently got thrown into the center of the sun.

Dr. Senge: Sort of a 'I was your dad's hall monitor' situation?

Daemoknight: Wasn't really in her league. She's dealt with them, but only tangentially.

So I've got Ol'Henry Salvo, who was too old for this thirty years ago, Mark Zucros, who is involved with the Couldron, and the Fantastic Flamingo dead barring horrific circumstances.

If that's not the three, then there's The Azure Blur AA's pops, with whom she had an on-again-off-again partnership. Parallel imprints with cross-overs. Moxie is terrified AA is her kid, and also misinformed about how babies are made. AB is retired, but likes getting phone calls/is still caping in the Eye-in-the-Sky/be ded, as my NPC limit allows.

That's why the Asure Blur is Moxie's old pal, and the Asure Avenger is the Asure Blur's kid.

All right, you caught me. I didn't think too hard on how many years ago that was... because it shouldn't be that many years ago. Dang. I'm starting to get old...

Female Innocent: ○○○○○   Danger:+2   Freak:-1   Savior:±0   Superior:-1   Mundane:+3   Guilty

Moxie was 12 when the Flamingo did his last disappearing act, and her heroism started. Salvo's comic was called Nightwatch. She was his Robin. She was 15 when she time warped in 1987 so her birth year is 1972. Today, she would be 44. Asure Blur was a few years older, now 48, having had his kid at 19, Asure Avenger is 29. Born not long after the time warp. Stay in school, kids.

Playing Innocent is playing "old the game".

I have to admit, I've been re-reading the posts, and I'm still mostly confused on the timeline stuff.

The Doomed

I figure Amir would be too tired to pay attention to this sort of timeline stuff anyway.

If anyone has asked me anything, I have definitely missed it in the wave of recent posts, and you should probably ask me again. And put it in bold this time. With arrows pointing at it.

From Twitch's perspective:

Months ago someone else had a headline. Some old-school villain's machine blew up. Really hurt your views.

Just now, you and the Mage fought a Mime so hard it leveled a restaurant. There were some other heroes involved, you guess.

You have no reason to believe the events are related, or important.

Yeah, the timeline is mainly for Moxie and Siphon to keep their stories straight, since our backgrounds are linked due to one of my relationship questions.

Your concern would be deciding how/why you decided to show up to help an attack on the retired superhero-turned-restauranteur Henry Salvo. However you got involved, you find the Mad Mime, a guy in demon plate armor, and a waif who had just finished assaulting the guy. They were in the middle of an argument when the fight breaks out. The waif eventually switches sides, helping to take out the mime.

We still need to figure out:

"We, as a team, attracted the attention of a major media outlet within the city, thanks to our efforts. Who are they? Why do they support us?"

And:
"We found signs that this incident was just the start of something bigger. What were the signs?"

Pretty sure Henry isn't a super. He was just a PI that specialised in cases involving them.

Odds are, only reason Henry would be on Twitch's radar was because of his now demolished restaurant - at least, that's the guess from the perspective of not-Twitch.

Female Innocent: ○○○○○   Danger:+2   Freak:-1   Savior:±0   Superior:-1   Mundane:+3   Guilty

Yeah, from the perspective of anyone but Moxie, only thing Henry Salvo is famous for is the best tiny burgers in town.

Female Star | Danger 0 | Freak +1 | Saviour +1 | Superior +2 | Mundane -2 | ○●Potential●○ --- ●●●○

@ Moxie
What's that? I can act ignorant by actually being ignorant? Say no more.

"We, as a team, attracted the attention of a major media outlet within the city, thanks to our efforts. Who are they? Why do they support us?"
For this, I think we attracted the attention of Herodia, a relatively well-established Entertainment corporation that specializes in hero entertainment. They are one of the top viewed channels on TV and have been smart enough to partially transition their presence online, which leads to their hefty presence in media today. Even Twitch has sold a few banner ads to them.

To them, we seem like the best bet for a present investment. While they do have good intentions, they are still a corporation and want to make money. The more they associate themselves with the future defenders of the city, the better off they'll be and the more synonymous our groups will be.

@Siphon, the names provided in your character sheet are for you to flesh out, so far as I can tell. I imagine they're supposed to be related to their service and level of obligation in some way.

@Miss Moxie, I was thinking about my question in relation to the situation that we've set up here, and i wanted to run an idea by you: the effect that time-warped modern Miss Moxie into Mad Moxie is unstable, and if she's hit by enough energy another Miss Moxie from another timeline is brought into ours. So in the midst of the first fight, Daemoknight hits the Mime with some magical something-or-other, she goes into flux for a second, then another Miss Moxie pops out. Idk, it's a bit involved, but I think it could make things pretty crazy/fun.

@Manifest, I do believe you still have Influence to give to one of us, yes?[ooc]

I know I have Influence to hand out, I'm just not sure who to.
Best idea I have now is Moxie - Siegfried being constantly mindful of just how she's adjusting to the world around her, in this case - also because her behaviour consistently baffles him and bypasses his psychological defences, but that'd happen anyway regardless of influence.

If I can pitch in on the Multiply Moxie Mystery...I'm not sure it's the best idea. Interesting in concept, yes, but it brings with it all sorts of potential issues to be addressed - particularly, just the way it fits in with the issues of Moxie's playbook. I mean...she's already trying to avoid becoming a different version of herself she hates. Introducing more Moxies just complicates that even further, without necessarily adding anything. And that's just assuming we don't have to start culling Moxies. (All things considered, "Hit with enough energy" feel like it's really not unlikely in a world full of supers and magic. It might be worked around, but it's difficult to do without it being liable to feel contrived.)

Not my place to make any decisions - that's for Moxie to decide (and possibly Elsine on a "Do I really want to deal with this" level) - but I just wanted to voice that it's not something that I, personally really see being fun to deal with, on a player or GM level. Not in Masks, anyway - maybe a system with a different focus.

Female Innocent: ○○○○○   Danger:+2   Freak:-1   Savior:±0   Superior:-1   Mundane:+3   Guilty

If a third Moxie exists, it's a ploy by Mad Moxie to keep tabs on and confound Miss Moxie's punchvestigation. If that's what's wanted, then I can play into it. Solving the mystery is Moxie's goal. Mine is to execute a gritty reboot realistically.

Influence is about whether you let someone else define you. Does Manifest's identity hang on Moxie's perception? Would he do a thing, not strictly because she said to, but because he thought she would want him to be the kind of person who would do it?

That said, Moxie has no influence that I know of.

And the young woman who Amir is arranged to marry is an alternate universe fourth Moxie. She's so excited about the upcoming wedding that she's already named herself Married Moxie.

There's also a fifth Moxie, ironically residing in the fifth dimension. Her construct powers are great enough that she can alter the very fabric of reality. We call her Master Moxie.

Unbeknownst to everyone though, a sixth Moxie lurks in the shadows, connivingly puppeteering every ill our Team comes across by use of her unique Clayface-like construct abilities to change her form and create evil construct minions. Her name is Mud Mox.

Oh, and we can't forget the seventh and eighth Moxie. During the late 90s there was a "IN SPACE" craze that swept the nation, prompting the rise of number seven, 'StarMox'! Her villain was her future counterpart, the dreaded eighth Moxie, 'StarBux', who ran an evil megacorporation that sold addicting mindcontrol beverages in an attempt to brainwash the people of the known galaxy. It only lasted for 13 issues though.

Spoiler:
... If you think someone would have to be on drugs to make this all up, you'd be right. All these other Moxies are subconsciously created by Mad Moxie, her powers going out of control as she dreams of a better life.

@Siphon_
Moxienception

@Elsine
Amir's Fiancée is named Sitara Sherazi. The only time they were both physically in the same room was in Pakistan when they were babies, which was when their marriage was arranged. They've known about each other for a while now, and of their eventual marriage, but its only really been in the last year that its become 'real' to them and they're having to deal with it. In-fact, they've only really talked to and seen each other just recently, through the magic that is Skype. Both families expect them to go through with the marriage, and both think that they're happy about it and have no objections (which may or may not be true in Sitara's case). And likewise, both Amir and Sitara think the other wants to go through with it.

There's nothing wrong with Sitara. She's good-looking and has a pleasant, sweet personality. Amir has no objections with her. His main issue is being in control of his life. He wants to decide for himself where he lives and who he has a relationship with. Amir might come to really like Sitara, but it frustrates him that his parents have arranged the whole thing.

His living situation is another example of his frustration. Amir was living with his parents before, which he was fine with. Then, one day, his parents announce that they've rented him an apartment for him to live in alone. Amir appreciates it, and even likes the place, but since it was his parents' idea and they're in control of it all, he's can't help but be somewhat bitter. Even his job is something that his parents arranged.

Some parents merely tell their kids where to work, live, and who to marry. Amir's parents, in his opinion, take it to a whole new level.

@Amir, O_O It's Moxie madness...!

Okay so maybe more Moxies is a bit much. How about Mad Moxie is now temporally unstable? Like during the fight she started "blinking" in and out of time, and at one point she left behind a time anomaly of some kind. (A Salvo slider stuck falling in mid-air maybe?) This way the possibilities are greater, but it's overall no more work than what we're all willing to put in.

As for a base for us, I think we could all meet at the McGregor residence if need be. It's nothing big or fancy, just a standard suburban property, and Mr. McGregor probably doesn't like having all of his son's "work friends" over all the time, but it could be serviceable. That or we could all cram into Amir's broom closet.

@Amir, speaking of your doom btw, who all on the team knows about the specifics? You've already established that you told Twitch, but I can't imagine you told Kilt. (And I wouldn't recommend you tell him either, cause he'd probably go and confront your family for you. :/ )

Maybe deepen one of the other mysteries, instead of adding weird stuff to Moxy. Daemonknight, salvo, and The collectors were all there as well. were the collectors after something unexpected? did Siphon "borrow" Daemonknights powers, and discover he has ones he doesn't use, or which were unknown? did Salvo know one of the collectors? say something cryptic before he succumbed to unconsciousness?

Miss Moxie wrote:

Technically, yes, that's true, but I feel like that's more of a mechanical/end result definition.

As I understand it, Influence describes how much you care about the way they behave, at least in regards to you - whether you care enough for whatever reason that their words or actions are enough to have an impact on you. That's the crux of it.

I've been trying to think just who manages to carry weight with Siegfried as I've set him up - and it's hard. It really is.

Amir probably wouldn't get Influence. Outside of The Team's business, I don't really think there's anything going on there.
Twitch...look, it not's gonna be Twitch. Positive or negative, the necessary feelings aren't there.
I don't see it with Kilt. Yes, sure, he's a great source of positivity and helps Siegfried feel better, but he seems like the sort that Manifest might find a little...naive? As far as his views on things go. He's nice, but Siegfried probably wouldn't be too invested in what he says, generally.

That leaves Moxie and Siphon.

I just don't have a good grip on what Siphon is like. I feel like I've got enough of a handle on everyone else to make some decent judgements, but Siphon is a blatant blind spot for me. I have no idea what she's like with everyone, or what her general disposition is, let alone how she interacts with me. All I have is her relationship with me, and I don't actually know what that looks like.
Moxie comes from a different time, with differing values, and ordinary statements can have a much different context with her. It brings with it not only strange behaviour, but plenty of questions being raised as she gets to grips with this generation, from mundane ones regarding day to day to ones that are awkward, uncomfortable, and really make you question things. Ones that you have to take in and consider rather than brushing them off, since in her case, they're important. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that having this sort of stuff ticking away in his mind is liable to affect the way he thinks, with the way it frequently requires him to challenge his perspective. There would be constant weight given to what Moxie says that wouldn't be afforded to another person saying the same, and I feel confident in saying that would, in fact, mean that Moxie has Influence over Manifest. Have to keep in mind - assertions on the way the world works have just as much of an effect as assertions as to who you are, where Influence is concerned. It's the former I see coming into play more here.

That's just what I'm thinking right now, given what info I currently have. Open to altering or adding contexts on things, or just having something I might have missed explained, but this is my current thought process.
Right now, I'm giving the Influence to Moxie. I'll likely stick with that unless something changes my mind.

Very well then. A lot of this was focusing on the MM-Siphon thing, but if we want something else I can oblige. Hm...ah-ha! I got something!

When our team first came together, we found signs that this was just the start of something bigger. What were the signs?

"I-It's nothing big but...I saw something after the fight. While those MIB-types were hauling away Disconight-whatshisface, there was something lurking behind them. A black dog, as tall as a horse, with bright red eyes. Then I blinked and...it was gone. I was probably still just loopy from the fight, it was just a stray Rottie or something that I just made huge in my head. But...my grandpa told me a myth about a dog that's supposed to look like that. The Black Shuck. At best, it's an omen of death. At worst...it IS death..."

How we feeling about that? Is it connected to the Collectors, or Daemonkight, an independent agent?

Manifest, that's perfectly understandable, and it makes complete sense that Siphon wouldn't start out with influence over you. I'm getting the inspiration to put together a story or two of her days leading up to her turn from villain to hero, so you'll get an idea of what she's like soon enough. For now, just know that she's been shaken to the core because she's been disowned and disavowed, cut off from her resources. She'll start somewhat shell-shocked, and a bit distrustful, especially if you don't indicate that you want anything from her in exchange for her staying at your place. She's used to the "nothing's free" life.

Does that give you a starting point?

The Doomed

I'm fine with Amir's apartment/sanctuary being The Team's hangout. Lemme redefine the place.

=== Amir's Apartment | The Sand Castle ===
A gift from his parents, Amir lives in a ground floor, single bedroom apartment near the edge of Panurgic City. It's a unique location, in that there's lots and lots of long stretches of empty, clear (and dusty) land. Because of all the free space, the location tends to attract many of Panurgic's new businesses and development projects, so every building around is 'shiny' and brand new, most having been constructed in just the last year. It provides a stark contrast to the center of Panurgic City–where Amir's parents live–and its decades-old structures and retro style.

The apartment itself is a nice, cozy place, where The Team often meets to hang out. Its nickname is 'The Sand Castle', because of Amir's tendency to get sand EVERYWHERE.

:: Living Room & Kitchen [Hangout]
The main living area has a pretty standard layout, with an open kitchen adjoining a living room. There's a fridge, oven, couch, TV, etc. There's also a patio, closet, and a full bathroom. Amir keeps the place pretty immaculately clean, so the place doesn't look very 'lived-in', but it still only takes a couple seconds to find some sand that he missed while he was tidying up.

:: Bedroom [Sanctuary]
Serving as Amir's personal and private space is, obviously, his bedroom, which is just off the living room. [Drawbacks: Location known to many & Easily damaged or tampered with]

- Sandbags [Feature: Power Battery]
In the corner of the room is a number of large sandbags, filled with Pakistani sand that Amir ordered. They were originally intended for some spiritual or religious purpose. When Amir goes out, he fills a small, traditional water gourd with this sand for him to use with his powers.

- Old Books [Feature: Library of Valuable Tomes]
There is a shelf or two with books from Pakistan that date back to Amir's ancient ancestors. They're all in Urdu, which Amir doesn't know how to read or speak. He keeps them around with the hope that they'll help him understand his powers.

- Antiques [Feature: Ancient Relics]
Scattered around the room, either hanging on a wall, on a table, or on a display, are a number of relics that, again, date back to Amir's ancient ancestors. Amir only keeps them around because he hopes that they'll help him understand his powers.

@The Kilt
The only person on The Team that Amir has told is Twitch. He wouldn't of told anyone else because "talking about it openly" brings his Doom closer. Twitch, however, might have gone blabbermouth and told everyone on The Team about it ;)

And The Black Shuck is a cool idea!

I believe it does, Siphon.
As for expectations - don't turn out to still be a villain, clean up after yourself, don't wreck the place...etc. There's no expectation of compensation, just that you respect the house and everyone living in it, basically.
Sis'd be fairly friendly towards you, and would prod you about me and my life on a regular basis. Sometimes while I'm still in earshot.

Okay, 'vignette' turned into 'novella' but I'm pretty happy with it.

Seeing Things:

Faces, unrecognized, floated across her vision. They were smiling, laughing -- or are they crying? Sometimes in pain, sometimes comforting. Sometimes scared, sometimes brave. There was warmth, a touch, a kiss...

Siphon blinked and the vision was gone, but she still had to reach out to grab a wall to steady herself. This was crazy; she'd never been so out of whack by snaring someone's power before. But this was different. This was --

Faces, again, but different ones. These were harder, meaner. But often full of fear, and sometimes hate. She saw hunger, lust, greed in their eyes. They were familiar to her. She'd seen the same looks all her life, cold and calculating.

She stumbled, clutching a chair to keep from falling to the floor.

"What's wrong?" Despite the question, the voice had no compassion.

Siphon looked at the demon-masked figure with a scowl. She straightened, trying to cover her momentary weakness. She wasn't sure how long she would be plagued by these visions, but she wasn't going to let them think she couldn't handle them. "Nothing. Flashes of the power, that's all. You hired me to get them, remember?"

The figure leaned forward, menace radiating off him. "I hired you to get the information, girl. Now you will use the power to know where it is. Then you will tell us."

She tried to glare back, but another vision struck just then. She felt she was in a carnival mirror funhouse, seeing hundreds of variations of the cultist before her, stretching on to infinity. She glanced down at her hands. Like a trippy music video of the 1970s, hazy afterimages repeated themselves over and over. However, she could detect subtle variations -- a different colored nail polish, a bandage, a cut, a scar. Looking at the rest of herself, she could see even more images and variations. Always her, but in a million different permutations.

"SIPHON!" her mother screeched at her over the video phone. At some point during her vision, the cultist had apparently connected and set it in front of her. "You do what you are told! You are coming dangerously close to damaging your reputation! Do you know what that will cost us if you fail??"

She pinched her brow to try to regain focus. "Yes, mother. It's... different. But I'll--"

"I don't want to hear about different! I want to hear that you got results!"

Siphon submitted, and let her mother begin negotiations with the cultist over the disappearance of Lucidity. She wasn't sure how she could be blamed for that, but somehow she was. She stumbled over to a table and lowered herself into a chair. On the table was a grainy, black-and-white picture of what looked like a couple European explorers holding a thick, leather-bound book.

She tried to focus on just the book, willing the power to see where it was now, or somehow trace its path from the Codex Maleficarum to the present day. The best guess about Lucidity's power was that she could see... everything. But that's a lot to sort through.

Another vision hits. Siphon is standing on a path, like the one she saw when she first touched the seer. She tries to think about the book, but the path suddenly grows dark and twisted; branches tangling and looming over the ground, roots twisting and coiling. Though a current of fear runs through her, she pushes on ahead, forcing away visions -- her father being shot execution-style in front of her; her mother lying in a tiled bathroom dead of an overdose; the clanging of doors with thick bars slamming closed in front of her face; someone bleeding in an alley (is it her?); hands holding a dead child; people screaming; people begging prostrate in front of her; crowds fleeing in terror from her; a blade sticking into her chest --

She pushed herself hard away from the table, sending it crashing on its side as she fell backwards as well. Feeling moisture on her face, she hastily turned away from the cultist and tried to wipe the tears from her cheeks without being obvious. Get a grip! she chided herself as she stood.

She slowly returned the table to its legs and gathered the papers from the floor, ignoring the stares of the cultist. She sifted through the papers, tossing aside various Celtic symbols and a drawing of a black dog with what looked like burning eyes -- hard to tell in the black-and-white drawing. Again she found the picture of the book, and tried again.

The vision returned. She saw the path again, but resolved to focus on the book later. The path stretched, with many forks and branches leading off into unseen distances. She realizes that she can see off in the distance of many of them, though before too long most of the paths veer out of sight. The faces return, shimmering and dancing with their myriad expressions in the different directions of the path. She sees moments, too. In one, she is playing a video game, but it looks like she is in the game. Another has her digging through a pile of sand trying to find someone buried. Choosing one of the branching paths which seemed to have more positive than negative, she follows that path for a while, seeing people and places that are comforting and nurturing. Once safely along the path and surrounded by loved ones, she concentrates on the book.

It took Siphon several minutes before realizing that she had been the one screaming. The plague of nightmarish visions faded mercifully from her mind, but the impression they left -- horror, pain, loss, regret -- gnawed viciously on her mind. Trying to sit up, she realized she was tied to a stinking mattress. Worse, her parents were standing over her.

"What. the. Hell." her mother stated imperiously.

Her father rubbed his wife's shoulders. "Now, honey. She's clearly been through a lot. Sweetie? How are you feeling?"

She wriggled out of the straps that had apparently been holding her down and rubbed her eyes. "Okay, I guess."

"Good," her father said. "So, did you find where the book is?"

Siphon tried her hardest not to flinch at being reminded of the Codex. Her mother picked up on it. "Don't tell me we went through all that, had to come all the way here through morning traffic, and you didn't get it?" she chided.

"Mom, it's different, it's--"

"No excuses!" her father shouted, slashing the air with his hand. "We already had to pay them back a third of the price for this delay. You will get them the location!" He loomed over her, causing her to pull her knees up to her chest as she scooted back to the wall.

Her mom slid in between Valerie and her father, and placed a soothing hand on her forehead. "Now, dear, remember: you're Siphon. At just seventeen, you've made millions with your power. There's no do-gooder in Panurgic who can withstand your touch. Are you going to let that spaced-out b&%@$ get the better of you?"

A surge of wounded pride ran through her. Valerie shook her head. "No. She won't. I'm Siphon. I take their powers the path and I use them the path better than they ever could! I just need to the path, um, focus some more."

Her father straightened. "That's my girl. But this setback is coming out of your allowance."

Shoving that concern aside for the moment, Siphon sat up on the mattress and crossed her legs. She caught the presence of the cultist hanging around nearby, but she ignored him, too. She closed her eyes, and willed the visions back.

The path reappeared. She retreated from it, pulling back. I won't go that way. She laid a trap for me. That's all she did. Remembering the hall of mirrors effect, she willed the infinite images to appear around her. Seeing all the different realities and possibilities within herself, she began concentrating on the Codex.

Reality trembled. She saw variations of herself, with blackened clawlike hands groping and grasping at some leathery pages. Fearing a reaction similar to before, she pulled farther out, mixing the infinite mirrors to the path, and suddenly she saw it: a web, stretching out into infinity. It wasn't a perfect spider's web, having twists and tangles and snapped threads, but it was beautiful.

She again concentrated on the Codex Maleficarum. The gossamer threads began to blacken and grow taut. She saw -- no, felt -- several threads snap -- branches of her life doomed the more she let the grimoire affect it.

She recoiled again in fear, but the vision held her fast. She needed a way out, the web had trapped her. She pulled and tugged at the strands herself, seeing strange, unfamiliar faces. Wait, she'd seen them before. She pulled herself out of the twists, away from the infected black strands and onto a new thread. She could see the faces on it vaguely, but saw that the strand led to a nearly intact web. Fearing the fraying, infected web behind her, she seized the strand desperately. She pulled, tugged, but the dead threads clung to her hard. It was as if she was being pulled in two. It was excruciating, and she had to scream once more.

================

Siphon woke up again on the dirty mattress. She saw her parents in a heated debate with several of the cultists, and one large... thing... in heavy armor with spikes and horns. Oh, yeah. Him. The DaemoKnight.

All heads turned to look at her when she stirred. The look on her parents told her that they had lost more money, probably wouldn't get as much for the next job or three, and that they were going to take it out of her hide. The visions were gone, she realized with a jolt of relief that was suddenly replaced with fear when the implication struck her that she wouldn't have anything for them. She wondered if she could make a break for it. Something moved next to her, and suddenly she saw a psychotic-looking mime staring at her with its crazed eyes. Great. Just great. They brought in Moxie. She wasn't going to be able to run, so she was as good as dead.

Wait. There was something, something clear within the haze of the fading visions. A name. Salvo. Henry Salvo. But she couldn't say what it meant.

But she could bluff.

Before anyone could say anything to her, she blurted out, "The book's too well protected. It has some kind of defense mechanism. But I found the name of someone who knows. Henry Salvo.

"He's where it all begins."

...well, if that isn't a massive pile of s%@%, I don't know what is.

I think we're good to get this going. So why not get this show on the road?

Manifest, I hope you're talking about Siphon's life, and not my story!

I'm ready! Let the game begin!

'course I'm talking about Siphon's life. That's pretty easy to verify.

Oh, yes, and on Vignette-->Novella, I very well understand how it's easy to get carried away writing. What I don't know is how other people manage to be more concise with it - or at least, that's how other people's posts tend to look to me. My text density gets out of hand quickly.

Siphon, I remember you having a sister? Is that right?

Seigfried, what is your sisters name? what are her powers?

Missy, you were a runaway. is Missy Moxovich your birth name, or an acquired moniker? have you tried to find your parents/siblings in the modern-day?

Amir.... Mother, Father, any other family members I should know about?

I'm so friggin' exited for this campaign.

Moxie ran away on purpose. She was only seven at the time. Her parents never stuck around for long when she was little, and when bubbeh died, she wasn't going to wait to be put in the system. The Fantastic Flamingo helped her get the paperwork straight.

He's the parent she's been looking for.

Could be some siblings/cousins out there.

I think talk of me having a sister was when Infernal Zero was looking at the Joined and trying to pick a twin.

There's definitely room for a sibling. A poor, forgotten, overlooked and ignored sibling who doesn't contribute anything to the family, certainly not like what Siphon did.

I hadn't thought of it before, but the idea is growing on me.
Let's see... b-1,g-2: 1d2 ⇒ 2

So, sister Victoria Tepe. 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 years old. Quiet, decent student at the private boarding school where their parents stuck her once the money came rolling in.

Rozalin Tilmitt, air manipulator and doting older sister. She's about 2 years older than I am, and pretty bold. Or blunt. Boldly blunt. Depends who you ask.

She's probably the only member of my family I know of that isn't remotely afraid of me. There's likely extended family, but we're not familiar.
Dad can be a bit leery of me, and Mum is outright terrified of me, though she tries to pretend otherwise if we're in the same room for some reason.

I don't really talk to or visit them much, and they do the same. It tends to be uncomfortable for all of us when it does happen.
Sis has noticeably more contact with my parents than I do, but it's obvious she wishes we were all on better terms.

That's the family basics.

The Doomed

*flips open the ol' family tree*:
Ancestor: King Artakhshathra
Grandfather: Sayyid Ahmed
Grandmother: Fareeha Ahmed
Father: Hasan Ahmed
Mother: Aisha Ahmed
Older Sister: Saira Ahmed
Younger Sister: Gulbahar "Gabby" Ahmed
Younger Brother: Rana Ahmed

All the above are living in Panurgic, but there are many more relatives (cousins, etc.) who live back in the middle east. Of course, the Ancestor isn't 'living' in Panurgic, but you get the idea :P If you remember the movie Mulan, he's kind of a cross between Mushu and the ancestor spirits, except a lot bigger and scarier.

Amir's Nemesis is his entire family, so while there are many individuals with different personalities in that group, they're all united in bringing Amir's Doom closer. I imagine they'd be best represented as a single Villain character, with a unique Villain move to symbolize each individual. Example: Mom pesters, Dad attacks, Sisters convince/argue, Brother whines, Ancestor haunts.

Shortly after the start of the game, I'll update Amir's profile with all the new info.

First prompt is up. kinda trying for a different cold-open here, hope it works.

I'd be surprised if Moxie's government name was known by anyone other than Mad Moxie. Possibly Salvo and Zucro, but she wouldn't be aware. Mini Moxie does know her SSN, and therefore the mime's.

The street folk know her as Missy, or Lil' Miss, but they have no idea that's her name. Some are old and senile enough to have trouble distinguishing the two Moxies, which has been rough.

She changes outfits in private, and looks like a totally different person, so that aspect is there.

Moxie's a tough cookie, and Always Kind, so it's gonna be tough for the others to see how hard it is, being haunted by the ghost of xman future.

The Doomed

Oooh, I didn't understand at first when Elsine asked about the Comfort move, but I see now that it was a great catch. If I were GMing I definitely would've overlooked that moment. Here's a an excerpt from the rulebook about the Comfort or Support Someone move:

Quote:
Comforting or supporting needs to break a certain threshold for the move to be triggered. This isn’t for pats on the back or simple “Good job!” compliments. This is for genuine, open-hearted, even extended emotional support of another person. This is for heart-to-hearts, for meaningful gestures and actions.

I totally agree with Elsine that Siphon creating a soundproof barrier for Manifest and her to have a heart to heart counts as a 'meaningful gesture' and that Comfort or Support Someone should be triggered :) That's one of the interesting things about Masks, us players don't really 'use' the different moves in a traditional sense. Moves are always triggered by events in the fiction.

Picture it this way, Siphon could've just told Manifest to spit it out, or shrug it off and ignore him. Instead what she did was support him by raising a barrier to make him more comfortable.

Also, while I'm at it :P This isn't Provoke Someone, because that move always entails your character being manipulative. For example, if Manifest hadn't indicated that he wanted to talk somewhere private, but was still all "Nah. Nevermind.", and Siphon responded by saying "Oh? Are you scared the others might overhear?" and then raised the barrier, then THAT would've been manipulative and triggered Provoke Someone. The big difference is doing something to make Manifest talk versus doing something to let Manifest talk.

But, um, basically what this all boils down to is, "Hurray! You get to make a roll that could maybe add Team to the pool and give Manifest potential~!" xD

Yep, I see it now, too. I got hung up on the "comfort" part, because it seemed like it was Manifest who wanted to do the comforting. If it's okay, I'll make a retroactive roll.

Totally okay. sometimes, moves are hard to call
