The weapons seem to be made of the same wood as the rest of the statue, not real weapons at all. From G'Boar's point of view, it looks like a wooden idol of some kind.

Periyotro follows after G'Boar and Mordan, keeping his crossbow loaded and ready. Once he's in position, he chants a short incantation, peering intently with his enhanced sight to detect any magical auras.

Casting Detect Magic. I'd like to check out the statue at least, and I think I could detect magical auras through the wooden door?

As G'Boar moves within 5' of the wooden idol, it jumps to life, shouting out a challenge in a strange tongue, it readies to fight with a small bow.

21 Bapak
18 Mordan
13 Totem
9 G'Boar
3 Hikari

Round begins with Bapak and Mordan.

Know Arcana DC12:
The totem is clearly a magical construct of some kind. The main attack appears to be a slam with the wooden appendages.

Know Arcana DC 17:
Most constructs are immune to mind-affecting effects as well as poison, paralysis and other biochemical attacks.

Know Arcana DC 22:
The exotic wood construction of the totem gives it a hardness factor against physical damage.

Periyotro tilts his head, looking at the totem like an interesting puzzle. "Finally something interesting, yes? It seems like an animated construct. To deal with invaders, probably? It is equipped for ranged attack, but its primary mode of attack seems to be the limbs. Be careful of those, yes?" Periyotro looks at G'Boar, ushering him to attack the totem anyway.

"To continue: as an animated construct, we can presume that it is not susceptible to mind-affecting attacks, nor to poisons and such. But that is common knowledge, of course... Any questions?"

Periyotro concludes his lecture, takes a step forward and fires his crossbow. He then reloads it.

The Training Room - Round 1 - concluded

Bapak lectures the others on the properties of an arcane construct, and then fires. Too bad his aim isn't as sharp as his mind. The bolt misses.

Mordan also leaps forward, eager to once again enter combat, but his axe stroke misses the strange construct.

Now ready for a fight, the totem makes a swinging counter-attack at Mordan, but just as the barbarian missed, the fighting dummy misses as well.

G'Boar rummages through his pack producing an explosive flask and tossing it on the wooden statue. The fire seems to damage the foe, though not any more so than one would normally expect.

Hikari moves to the side of the warrior statue, and delivers a roundhouse kick and while it hits and hard, it doens't seem to affect the animated wood at all.

"Interesting, interesting. Maybe the magic protects the wood from fire? I really should study more, once it stops attacking us."

Periyotro takes a few steps forward to have a clear line of attack, and then fires his crossbow again.

The Training Room - Round 2 - concluded

Flipping into his deadly fierce battle rage, Mordan is able to land pair of hits with his axes against the flaming wooden battle dummy. The blows shake and wood splintering parts off, but much of the damage is absorbed the hard wood.

Finally, still engulfed in alchemist fire, the wooden construct falters then smoulders, then burns, ending its magically altered life.

Periyotro pokes about the smoldering remains of the totem, disappointed that nothing worthy of study remains. He seems about to berate G'Boar for throwing the alchemist's fire, but something decides against it. "Such a shame. We move on, yes? Anyone injured?"

Peering at the door, Periyotro recites the familiar incantation to detect the presence of magic. "Maybe something interesting beyond here, yes?"

"I am unharmed, Periyotro... but we should be ready for more combat beyond this door..." the ranger whispers as he listen's intently for any signs of life on the other side of the door and any traps that may be present. He readies an arrow in his bow as they prepare to breech.

Periyotro stands ready behind G'Boar with his crossbow loaded. He'll relay any information he might find with his Detect magic spell, and signals for G'Boar to open the door when the others are ready as well.

Listening beyond the door, G'Boar can hear the sound of man's voice, but it is soft and the words are only indistinct verbalization from this side. It does appear only one voice is speaking however.

The wayang's divination reveals the presence of magic auras beyond the door. There are two auras detected, and both seem to be faint.

The Ranger goes into stalk mode and moves stealthily as possible thru the door.

The room beyond is nicely decorated and comfortably furnished, unlike the rest of the complex. Cushioned chairs create a comfortable sitting area, and a large tapestry depicting a battle of a dozen dervishes in a bright yellow sandy desert adds color to the room. The air is scented with cinnamon and trophy heads and animal skins decorate the floor and remaining walls.

A man dressed in finely made leather armor and wearing a scimitar at his belts stands in the doorway to the bedchamber. In front of him stands a tiger, crouched and ready to pounce. The man holds out the artificial wand, made by the pathfinders as bait, and aims it at G'Boar.

"Leave now, interlopers, and I will spare your miserable lives." he says calmly indicating the wand, which he assumes is quite powerful, as he speaks.

If you decide to enter combat, go ahead and give an initiative first. I will roll up the others when I can and we will go to rounds.

Perception DC 10:
The wind ruffles the large tapestry in a strange way, leading you to believe there is a hollow space beyond.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Periyotro notices the breeze behind the carpet, but stores the information in the back of his mind for now. He looks about to laugh at the man, knowing that the scepter is a useless trinket. However, he recalls their orders in time, and decides a more diplomatic approach.

"You are Zamir, yes? he asks. "We have heard of your operation. The scepter was a clever deception, used to bring us here. We are from the Pathfinder Society and need to have a word with you. Your connection to the Aspis Consortium ends today, either way. You can convince us that you continue your work with the Pathfinder Society, though."

G'Boar moves into the small room towards the fluttering tapestry to open the entry way for his mates, bow trained on the tiger. He attempts to identify the cat's intentions in order to gain an advantage knowing the beast's extraordinary dexterity, but fails miserably. Next he studies the traitor's face for a hint of his next action, but again decerns nothing...

Mordan Lok watches silently seeing what path his companions take.

Not a good intimidate roll. That hurts.

Zamir nods when identified by the wayang, but his face grows redder as the rest of the threat is spoken. "You come here and threaten ME!" shouts the bandit leader, is temper growing out of control. "I will see you all destryoed for your insolence!" He raises the wand in a threatening manner and motions for the tiger to attack!

"Ayayay!"

Periyotro doesn't know what hit him, when Zamir starts becoming aggresive and sends the tiger to attack. It was a good deal, we offered!

He managed to evade the tiger's head and one of the claws, but the other rends him straight across the belly. Staggered, Periyotro stumbles back, away from the animal. He grabs the potion hanging from his belt.

5 foot step back, move action to grab potion.

That's what you get being a jerk, Intimidate seems like a risky proposition at times. Maybe Periyotro learns the benefits of Diplomacy once he survives. I see Mordan has my back, though. :)

Zamir Fight - Round 1 - concluded

Seeing the great cat maul his strange little companion, G'Boar fires an arrow straight at the rib-cage of the bandit leader, scoring a hit.

Hikari rushes to the side of the injured Wayang, tapping him gently with the curing wand she uses.

Taking on the great tiger, Mordan scores a critical hit with his mainaxe, severing the spine of the beast. His off-hand weapon finishes the tiger cleanly.

Staggered, but recovering Bapak stumbles back from the melee and the fallen tiger.

Crying out in anger at the destruction of his pet and totem, Zamir points the wand he believes is very powerful at Mordan and chants the command word. When nothing happens, he looks at the wand in amazement and tries again and again to trigger a vengeful blast. When he realizes that the wand will not destroy his foes, the surprised bandit leader throws it down in frustration and raises his hands in surrender.

"You have me at a disadvantage," he cries in frustration. "I yield to your mercy."

G'Boar draws and aims another arrow at the bandit leader and says, "move one inch and you will taste your own blood... Mordan will you bind our prisoner, my friend."

He then glances at his Wygang companion and the war priestess and nods approvingly.

Liberty's Edge

Periyotro thanks the warpriest for the healing and steps back into the well-furnished room. "Very well, it's good that you came to your senses. You should have taken my first offer, yes?" Periyotro touches the still tender wound and scowls at the man. "Mordan, will you bind him?"

Periyotro continues talking while he picks up the scepter, making sure Zamir can hear him. "So, what do we do with him? He doesn't seem like a very reliable asses for the Pathfinder Society. Do we turn him in the agents of the Thakur? They might know that to do with him."

The bewildered bandit leader looks down at the false wand he threw on the floor. "I see you have defeated me, but I still don't understand how. I had the Scepter, you should've been doing my bidding. How did you ruin that powerful artifact and keep it intact?'

He submits to being bound with rope or manacles, and sits there trying to puzzle through what happened recently.

The mention of the Thakur gets his attention quickly. "Those power hungry demagogues," says Zamir almost to himself. Then louder, "Wait, do not turn me into the Thakur. They will most assuredly take their revenge on me first, and then have me killed. I beg you, tell me more about your Society, and how it can benefit me."

G'Boar thinks back to their briefing from Venture Captain Mihir. The words still echo in his memory... "Zamir is an arrogant man whose loyalties lie with whoever can make him famous to the people of Jalmeray. Right now he believes the Aspis Consortium is the answer. You will either convince him that the Society is the answer—as he could be a very powerful ally in the region—or you’ll end his operations for good.

The Ranger speaks sternly to the bandit leader, "The Pathfinder Society is a globe-spanning organization based out of Absalom, the world's largest city. The membership consists primarily of Pathfinders, who are adventurers that travel throughout Golarion and explore, delve, and otherwise experience the lesser-seen parts of the world to learn and chronicle the mysteries of the world. You have aligned yourself with those insidious Aspis Consortium folk who are as two-faced as they come. They will pat you on the back with one hand and stab you in the same place with the other. We need plant the seed of rumor that you are cheating them out of their share of profit and they will see you dead in a fortnight... or we can simply end your miserable existence here and now. However, the Society could use a well-connected man of your talents in this area. The society could also flood the streets of Jalmeray with songs of your greatness through our extensive bardic system. So it is your decision... Die now, or serve in glory for the Pathfinder society?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16

I may need some 'aid another' help on that diplomacy check!

Liberty's Edge

Periyotro nods during G'Boar's speech. "Indeed. Please, also consider the amount of knowledge and power the Society must have to create the ruse with this fake sceptre."

Diplomacy, aid another: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

The man thinks hard, knowing his life is likely on the line, right now. "You speak well of this Society. And it is true, I would rather be a legend alive than dead. You would not have defeated my but for this subterfuge," he indicates the false wand lying on the ground at his feet. "But that type of trickery, I can respect. If the Society will allow me the glory I deserve and a share of the profits, I am happy to switch allegiance. I never trusted the Aspis agents anyway. Tell your leaders I will receive them to negotiate my compensation."

Over time negoatiations are worked out and Zamir proves valuable to the Society in Jalmeray operating his base in conjunctino with the lodge in Padiskhar. Venture-Captain Mihir is quite pleased with the turn of events and offers you a special copper coin with the Sigil of the Open Road on one side and the flag of Jalmeray on the other. This coin will allow any citizen of Jalmeray found in the Inner Sea to offer aid to the pathfinders should they be in need.
