Khismia al-Khair |
Khismia decided to free the ground for more competent fighters to strike that creature.
"Pharasma's take you!" she pointed finger and channeled some of her energy, with Qadiran words of prayer.
Mythic Bane on that thing, Will DC18
GM Kyshkumen |
Tooley seems to swirl around Tuich's head in frustration and Khismia's spell again seems to have no effect. The spells you are picking have a common thread that seems to be ineffective on this creature.
Dylara and Melon give it a go but cannot seem to land a blow this time.
::::::::Round 3:::::::::::
Vincent
Bug eye monster (18)
Tuich
Dylara
Khismia
Vyk
Miko
Bold still have actions.
Miko Teppen |
I made a chord of shards attack above (which is just good old pain damage)
Vincent Blackwood |
I have "sword damage."
Vincent moves up to the creature, winding around a fallen pillar. The long strides come easily and he shifts the momentum into a wide swing of his blade.
P.Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 1 + 1 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 7 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 + 3 + 1 = 18
It's magic and ignores hardness, in case it happens to be an object.
GM Kyshkumen |
Sorry Miko I missed that.
Miko's attack hits the creature, but what little damage was done instantly heals as if it never happened. Vincent comes charging around the pillar and puts to much into his swing and misses the creature.
::::::::Round 3:::::::::::
Vincent
Bug eye monster (18)
Tuich
Dylara
Khismia
Vyk
Miko
Just waiting on Vyk
Vyk Tyr |
Vyk rushes over, and hurls a ray of frost at the creature. Can't quite make it to the little sucker.
Ray of frost, ranged touch : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage : 1d4 ⇒ 1
Oh, can someone move me to the space just below, Melon?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Miko Teppen |
This creature is all over the place! Miko says as she fires a glob of acid at it.
Acid splash, RT: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 4 = 191d3 ⇒ 2
Vincent Blackwood |
With a burst of speed, Vincent moves around the pillars to catch the creature from behind, attempting another slice at it.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 1 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 + 3 = 15 x 2 for Foe-Biting = 30
I'm assuming we're out of Inspire Courage for the fight now?
Miko Teppen |
Wasn't my intention to stop inspiring, I simply forgot...
Khismia al-Khair |
Trying to help the battle, Khismia took her morning star and stepped forward striking the enemy
Attack (+flank): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 DMG (cold iron): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Miko Teppen |
What is Foe-Biting?
Acute lesion trauma
I think it has something to do with this:
Legendary Item (2): (foe-biting, powerful, powerful) (6 uses/day) on Vincent's Sword. This lets me double Vincent's damage 6/day. Can use additional times by spending mythic points.
Vyk Tyr |
Vyk moves next to the beast and attempts another slice.
"Get over here, you slippery bastard!"
Scimitar : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Looks like we're into the next round, so...
"EEP!"
Tuich jumps back as the thing appears next to her and lashes out. She swings at it in panicked retaliation.
Bardiche (Conjured Cold Iron): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15 I think we're still under Inspire Courage? -1 if not.
Fear affects her swing, and she misses. But then she feels Tooley's presence strongly again, as everything around her ripples briefly. Missed out on the earlier Rally, but let's try burning a Mythic point on Amazing Initiative to get a second swing.
Bardiche (Conjured Cold Iron): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 = 25 That's more like it!
Critical Confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
And when the ripples stop, her conjured weapon is swinging through a second, perfectly-aimed arc. I like the "rewind time and let's try again" vibe better than her suddenly speeding up like Taz. Besides, her silks would get all tangled! ;o)
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 -1 if no Inspire Courage.
Critical: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Unless you'd rather just double the other roll. ;o)
Not too shabby for a delicate flower. :oD
Dylara Yssal |
With a sigh, Dylara again moves up to the monster. "Stop moving around!"
She takes another swing at it with her sword.
Adamantine Longsword, Inspire Courage: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 1 = 22 Damage, Inspire Courage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Melon the Roc |
Melon turns around and flies up the the creature, which she attacks from the air above Dylara's head. "Prowawawa! Prrr!!"
DC 10 Fly (Move less than half speed and remain flying): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Bite, Inspire Courage, Higher ground: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 23 Damage, Inspire Courage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
Miko Teppen |
Miko stops her singing, then quickly grabs her healing wand. Are you all ok? Did that thing, whatever it was, get you?
I wonder if the Aspis agents came down this route. Maybe they found some way to sneak past these creatures?
Dylara Yssal |
"Or they summoned them," Dylara says as she temporarily puts her sword away to draw her own wand. She gives herself a few taps with it, healing all of her wounds.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
After putting her wand away Dylara redraws her longsword, and moves toward the western part of the room with Melon. "Let's be quick, or they'll outrun us."
Vincent Blackwood |
Vincent wipes the green blood off his sword before setting it down and healing his own wounds with his wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"Maybe they did. Maybe it was they who set these creatures here. We don't quite know the abilities of those whom we are chasing." Vincent readies himself and proceeds with the others to the west.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Looking for danger. Enemies, traps, things about to fall from the ceiling, etc.
GM Kyshkumen |
Vincent doesn't find any traps or hidden dangers, but he does find a very nice looking dagger, a vial of some strange dust, a sheet of of beaten gold and one of the blue lion creatures seems to have a strap of leather hanging out of it's mouth.
The sheet of beaten gold has some writing on on as well.
The chamber seems to end in a pile of rubble blocking further progress into the ruins.
Miko Teppen |
Miko looks around, but is too shaken from the fight that she doesn't even see the most obvious of things.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Assuming Vincent points out what he finds
This language... it's a hard one. Miko looks over the sheet of gold, but can't seem to make anything of it. This may be the sign for brick. Or floor? Ceiling? Seriously guys, this might as well be Abbadan for me.
Linguitstics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 If this works at all without speaking Aklo
Hmm. Looks like they know we're on their tail. That's quite a bit of rubble they're left behind.
Can we clear it? How long would it take?
GM Kyshkumen |
Though she does not fully understand the words the sheet of gold seems to have some sort of prayer written on it. In fact she is pretty confident she could read it correctly, but not understand what it really does.
Miko then focuses on the rubble poking around to see if it is possible to clear a way through.
Miko Teppen |
It seems to be a prayer. I don't understand this.
Ever since the start of humanity people have slavered away to create these things. I just don't get it. It's probably some 'protect the weak', 'feed the poor', that sort of thing. If they'd just use the metal for that purpose..
Vyk Tyr |
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Full HP
K. Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Pfft! Nope. Is it one or the other GM? Or can I also roll perception?
Vyk made a point to tap himself with his healing wand, before catching up with the others. But it took a few tries to get the zany thing to work.
"Must be defective," he mumbled once it finally kicked in. Still he felt his wounds stitch and close. And that's what mattered.
тυιcн |
Miko stops her singing, then quickly grabs her healing wand. Are you all ok? Did that thing, whatever it was, get you?
Panting heavily, Tuich shifts the summoned weapon to her left hand and retrieves her own wand with the right. "I'm okay, but Dylara doesn't look..." She trails off as the druid heals herself. "And Vyk..." she starts but, again, isn't quick enough. With a shrug, she puts her own wand away. Dang it, ninja'd!
Don't have Linguistics or Kn:Dungeoneering. Yet.
She peers around Miko's shoulder at the writing, but it means nothing to her. "I'm impressed you can even tell it's a prayer."
Miko Teppen |
Brain farts, that's why
Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Miko Teppen |
She peers around Miko's shoulder at the writing, but it means nothing to her. "I'm impressed you can even tell it's a prayer."
The way the text is set out, really. Short, repetitive message, recurring patterns. Soap for the brain. It could've been a corporate report as well, except they're not usually printed on gold, and there's no bullet points
While we're on the topic as well: can I figure who typically speak Aklo?
K(local?): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Vyk Tyr |
"So kind of like a prayer wheel then? Something you recite over and over for spiritual rejuvenation?"
At the looks of the others he shrugs. "What? I did grow up in monastery. I know things."
-Posted with Wayfinder
Vincent Blackwood |
"I suppose prayers have very little variation in them. Grant me the strength to smite your enemies. Grant me the strength to smite people I don't like personally. Grant me the strength to do both at the same time. That's one of my personal favorites," Vincent chimes in helpfully.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Dylara Yssal |
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
"All very interesting, but not what we came here for. Remember we were trying to chase people?"
Dylara points out some large cracks in the floor and walks up to them. "There's another room beneath this one. Instead of wasting time with a prayer and rubble, we should try to break this open."
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
She stamps her foot where the crack is, using as much force as she can muster. On her first try her foot slips in the crack, but she then tries again and is able to exert more force. "Some aid may be useful, guys and gals. Melon, come and help me too."
Melon the Roc |
Melon moves over to Dylara and copies what her friend does with her foot, except the roc uses one of her talons.
Strength, aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
It doesn't really add anything to what Dylara's doing.
GM Kyshkumen |
Dylara starts to get the impression that forcing it open probably isn't the most effective method. Maybe breaking their way through would be better.
тυιcн |
"All very interesting, but not what we came here for. Remember we were trying to chase people?"
"Are we sure we're on the right track?" Tuich questions. "If they came this way, wouldn't they have been attacked by these things?" Then she frowns as a thought occurs to her. "Unless they put them here." A shiver runs down her spine at the implications.
When Dylara starts stomping on the floor, one eyebrow goes up. "You do realize you're trying to crack open the floor you're standing on, right?" she asks in amusement. "And are we unconcerned about announcing our presence?"
She squats down and runs a hand along some of the fractures, contemplating the situation. "Tooley, can you do anything about this?" she asks quietly. Then she looks up at Dylara to explain. "The spirit of the sage... she opened the way to any spell within my reach. Well, opened the way for Tooley, really. But I'm still so new at this, I can't cast anything very powerful. The best I can think of is to increase someone's strength so they can more easily break through. Would that help?"
Dylara Yssal |
Dylara draws her adamantine longsword and stares at it. "This should be able to ignore the floor's hardness... I don't think I'll need mroe strength when I use this."
She takes holds of the sword with two hands and takes several swings at the floor, trying to cut away at it in order to create a hole everyone will fit through.
2H damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
2H damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
2H damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
2H damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
GM Kyshkumen |
Tuich perhaps you should go back and look at some of the posts. You might find something you missed.
Dylara's sword easily hacks away a chuck of the floor after two swings. The rubble falls down to the lower level with a loud crash. Looks like it's just a short drop down and the group can be on it's way again.
Vincent Blackwood |
Aw, I missed my opportunity to use my "ignore all hardness" ability.
Vincent looks around for something to tie a rope to so the group can make their way back up again later as well as ease their descent.
Miko Teppen |
one of the blue lion creatures seems to have a strap of leather hanging out of it's mouth.
I don't think we've done anything with this.
Perhaps our quarry did come this way after all. Easy, kitty, excuse me while I have a look at what you swallowed there...
Miko hopes the blue cat is well and truly dead, and tries to pull at the leather strap.
Dylara Yssal |
Dylara sheaths her sword. While Vincent looks around to find something to tie a rope to, Dylara takes her grappling hook and attaches it to her own rope. "Melon, follow me."
Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
She'll wait for the others to descend, after which she gives the rope a few swings to dislodge the grappling hook from its positions and let it drop to the floor she's on.
Melon the Roc |
Melon drops herself through the hole and opens her wings just before hitting the new room's floor, breaking her fall.
The big bird moves over to Dylara and places her head against her friend's shoulder. "Prrrr!"
Vyk Tyr |
Vyk climbs down awkwardly, his horns snagging painfully in the rope at one point.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
"Ow."

Khismia al-Khair |
"I don't know how to do this actually, so prepare to catch me down there" said Khismia trying to climb the rope. Last time, she was wearing lighter armour and it was easier, but she managed to do this again.
"Hopefully, there will be another exit without me trying to climb up the rope", she thought.
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
GM Kyshkumen |
Miko pulls on the leather strap removing a belt pouch from the creatures stomach. Most of the contents have been digested, however there are still some legible sections to a journal. Most of it is music or poetry along with some day to day observations. The final pages list off complaints about the Aspis Consortium's lack of appreciation for the author and his accomplishments. Also wedged in these back pages is a folded sheet of paper with the title "Potential Partners". The Pathfinder Society is among several other well known organizations on the list.
Once everyone is down in side the tunnels the group looks about to see if they can get a sense of direction or any signs of a trail.
As the group travels in the tunnels they notice that these tunnels are a bit different from the halls of the temple above. These tunnels are rounded and rough cut and the walls show signs of chemical reactions between the rock and some unknown substance.
Dylara Yssal |
Survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
Dylara bites her lips. "I think I need some aid this time, I'm not sure we're heading in the right direction..."
If aid rolls don't help I'll use my mythic Surge ability on my survival roll, but let's first see if we can do this the usual way :)

Tuich looks down at the others through the crack in the floor and, there being no other option but trying to climb down, sighs heavily.
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Almost immediately she loses her grip and lands heavily. She could Feather Fall, but I hate to waste the power. If this is an unknotted rope then DC 15ish, so that's a fall.
Fall Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
THUD! "OW!"
Tuich rubs her head, then stands and rubs her butt. "Coulda been worse," she mutters. "Coulda landed on Vyk's horns."
Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
She follows along with the group, looking around her and trying to visualize where they are.
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
At Dylara's remark she says, "I have no idea either," as she stares at the walls. "But something about this tunnel," she says quietly, "I read something once, what was it..."
You didn't list a DC for the Kn:Planes so I dunno if that means DC 10/if the roll was a success or not. So, better safe than sorry.

This Aspis guy seems quite fond of himself, and less fond of the consortium. Seems he even pondered joining the open road! This guy may be redeemable still.
K(arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Looks like these caves have been burrowed into the ground. I've heard tales of pretty big worms that live in the ground and leave caves like this. 'Death worms' they call them.
Miko shudders at the thought.
K(dung): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Anyway, there's really only one way these tunnels can lead...
