The steward point the adventurers to a wooden platform, explaining that this is the way down. After pulling a lever, the platform moves into motion.

The descending wooden platform finally comes to rest on a dais in a small, square room. To the east, a short flight of wide marble steps leads down to a grand hall. A bronze lever, currently in its “down” position, is on the wall near the stairs.

The platform descends, and Swayaah steps off the platform. "I'm pretty sure it's time to start sniffing for traps again."

"Yuuuck!" Ilya exclaims and accidentally spits half the extract of greater false life onto the ground, losing most of its effect. "What did you put in this, Ketill?! Bleh!"

Not willing to drink another extract for now, afraid the next one will taste weird as well, Ilya nods to indicate she's ready. "Let's go..."

Maybe save the other extracts for later?

All these except the shields have durations of at least 100 minutes, which should probably account for an entire spire level. I think it is a good idea to specify who takes what, so you know what you have.

Beyond the bottom side of the moving platform a hall can be seen. This hall is finished in honey marble and features four red granite columns. At the east end, an ornamental arch surrounds large stone double doors. The door is emblazoned with a large symbol: a skull with a crown. To the left and right of the doorway stand two large iron statues. Each statue holds an ornamental axe and shield, and has short, stumpy legs, a round belly, and a wide mouth above its sculpted beard.

GM, I assume you allow me to have bought a discerning wayfinder. I always remember that I want to buy one after we have gone down to the that one at the start of the next adventure...

Description
You create an invisible magical sensor that sends you visual information. You can create the arcane eye at any point you can see, but it can then travel outside your line of sight without hindrance. An arcane eye travels at 30 feet per round (300 feet per minute) if viewing an area ahead as a human would (primarily looking at the floor) or 10 feet per round (100 feet per minute) if examining the ceiling and walls as well as the floor ahead. It sees exactly as you would see if you were there.

The eye can travel in any direction as long as the spell lasts. Solid barriers block its passage, but it can pass through a hole or space as small as 1 inch in diameter. The eye can't enter another plane of existence, even through a gate or similar magical portal.

You must concentrate to use an arcane eye. If you do not concentrate, the eye is inert until you again concentrate.

Once at the bottom, Zen'yr will grab a wand and a scroll. She taps everyone with the wand, increasing their foot speed. She than asks the others if they don't mind waiting for ten minutes be exploring too much. She then begins to cast a from a scroll which takes a while. At the end an invisible sensor is at the door, trying to squeeze through any holes.

Longstrider for all (+10' land speed for 1 hour). Choosing to have it examine the walls/floor option for 100' per minute = 900' total. Wanting to explore as much of the "map" as possible :)

Swayaah waits to hear the arcane eye didn't work, and then pulls out her toolbox. "I hope you guys are ready for what's behind there..."

She casts some magic, and then her eyes seem to focus. The world seems to look more detailed. Kind of creepy, if she focuses on it. "Huh, now I know what my ex was talking about... this kind of detail creeped her out sometimes."

Ketill indentifies the seal of Nhur Athemon, a powerful archmage, and devotee of the demon lord Abraxas. The wizard was brought down ten thousand years ago by the knights of the ioun stone.

Swayaah and Ilvan are still fighting off the morning stiffness, as Ketill identifies the constructs as Tophets. They have the special ability to swallow whole, locking down whoever gets trapped.

Swayaah swings at the construct, desperate to try and free Ilvan, but only manages two hollow 'thunk's, while Ilvan scratches the surface of the monster.

Finally, Swayaah manages to get a good swing in. Ilvan bites, and almost breaks his beak on the hard construct.

Vayu comes in with his gun, blasting the tophet holding Kellan to bits.

Kellan, now liberated from the monster's grab, casts a spell, while Ketill mops up the last creature with two well-aimed bombs.
