Hi all, I have started recently gamemastering and it has definitely been enjoyable so far. I hope I am doing a good job so far. Anyway I am thinking of a campaign involving a group of ratfolk adventurers along the line of "MouseGuard". This is not a Mouseguard campaign but it will be a homebrew campaign.
The race we will be using is restricted only to Ratfolks. We will be using all classes and materials and I am looking at level 3. 20 Point Buy, 1 trait. The Fur Finder it will be called.
It will be mainly light hearted and fun.
Fur Finder Law: Trusty, loyal, helpful; Brotherly, courteous, kind; Obedient, smiling, thrifty; Clean in body and mind.
Motto: On my honour I promise to do my best to do my duty to my society. To help other ratfolks at all times and to obey the Fur Finder Law.
I will update more lore and details if there is enough interest.

Hmm this does sound interesting.
I'd like to join if I can use a fun class/role idea I had awhile back; it'll require another player and GM approval. It involves my being a Summoner Synthesist and taking the eidolon's Mount evolution; essentially, my player will be a Mount and another PC will get to ride me :) Could be a good fit for a mounted-combat Fighter?

Alternatively I am thinking of running a full halfling order of the paws.
Cavaliers of the Order of the Paw pledge to defend halflings, halfling settlements, and other innocent folks by patrolling the wilderness and seeking out possible threats to both individuals and whole communities. These cavaliers hunt down potential danger with a ruthless efficiency and determination that non-halflings find surprising and even somewhat alarming.
But for this I will allow exotic mounts. Tell me what you think.

oh you have a point. Or how about this?!
Cavaliers of the Order of the Furry Paw pledge to defend ratfolk, ratfolks warrens, and other innocent folks by patrolling the wilderness and seeking out possible threats to both individuals and whole communities. These cavaliers hunt down potential danger with a ruthless efficiency and determination that non-ratfolks find surprising and even somewhat alarming.

Hmm how serious do you want this game to be? Had a few ideas
-There is a giant ancestral ratfolk burrow near the worldwound; the demonic taint is advancing and we're part of a guard either sent to protect the burrow or we've always been part of its guards.
-Ratfolk have been granted some land in return for a service, and settlers are moving in. Cue epic clash with the residing Goblins.
-We've been sent to find a new burrow to relieve the pressure on our overcrowded home.
Just not sure whether a band of brave warriors roaming the land defending their own kind is very Ratfolk; sounds more like the kind of silliness human Paladins would get up to.
And, hi to you too! Of course not... I'll be Catfolk, it won't be cannibalism :)

I am quite interested.
I am loving playing a ratfolk PC in my twice-per-month gaming group doing Legacy of Fire. A big rat riding a dinosaur! What's not to love?
I could write up a character idea, but personally do not mind filling in whatever role is needed to finish off a party. (Quarrels, linked above, was created to fill the roles of secondary tank, healer, buffer, scout, trapsmith, appraiser, and linguist. A tall order, but I think I managed quite well.)
May I propose an idea to help differentiate this concept from Mouse Guard? What if all the PCs began with one level of Bard -- each a different archetype. It would give our "Order" something flavorful, allow Players to see a few seldom-used Bard archetypes, and Small size creatures never sneer at whip proficiency. True, a needless multiclass would weaken the characters a little, but that is easy to solve by providing some "extra" stuff early on so we become half a level ahead of where we would otherwise be for CR.

I love this idea. I read the Redwall book series when I was a kid and have recently started reading Mouseguard so doing a homebrew campaign with that flavor would be fun for me. If you decide to run the campaign and would like to include me I can write up a character. For some reason I'm thinking a ranger type would be fun but I'm willing to fill in a gap in the party if need be. Let me know if you plan on running this campaign!

I'd love this it sounds fun, though i would love a rat folk druid. Would the bestial druid from Kobold Quarterly be allowed I've wanted to play one of those somewhere
Could you link it for me?
Well My idea for the storyline is either these 2 which contributed by Arknight is
-There is a giant ancestral ratfolk burrow near the worldwound; the demonic taint is advancing and we're part of a guard either sent to protect the burrow or we've always been part of its guards.
-Ratfolk have been granted some land in return for a service, and settlers are moving in. Cue epic clash with the residing Goblins.

How attached to Ratfolk/Golarion is everyone? I happen to have the MouseGuard RPG & Character Creation is mostly a series of questions & answers.
Which is to say, I would be willing to volunteer as GM if at least three people would be interested in MouseGuard.

Wow!
Cool.
Intimidating, but cool.
Okay, first, for those of you who are uncertain about the world, take a look here. I will be setting things in the Spring of 1153, for those of you who have read the books before. For those who haven't, I will post a synopsis of past events when I start the Recruitment thread.
For now, figure what Concept you have for your character. If you don't have much experience with the world you might consider a new member of the Guard or Tenderpaw, although this will affect your starting age (You'll be a young'un). Don't worry about mechanics of your characters, we will address those in Recruitment as well, just think about who your character is.
The Mechanics of the RPG are fairly simple. At the same time, it is an 'indie' RPG, which means a lot of the game conventions & assumptions we are used to in RPGs like Pathfinder won't apply. I will go into those differences when I post the Recruitment thread as well.
Have to take my son out for Halloween now so I probably won't post until tomorrow morning. Looking forward to playing with you guys.

Okay!
Sorry this took longer than I intended, I got caught up in NaNoWiMo & other things. I still don't have everything posted that we will need for Character Creation yet, but here is the Recruitment thread for the Mouse Guard RPG! Guard Patrols are traditionally composed of teams of three mice so I will likely be looking for either three, four, six, seven or eight players. The odd groupings will make sense later, I promise.
Hopefully we will all have a blast!
