GM Chyro |
That square also contained furniture. A big pretty table, made of wood.
Round 3
Sele walks out of the hut.
--------------
The fire on the table has spread, and now its entire surface is burning.
--------------
Keera and Vassago douse 2 squares.
For Keera i took the obvious close one. Vassago, any square in particular you want to douse?
Kenji
Spenser
Spenser Quixote |
"Gangway, Lot!" Spenser shouts his mount aside as he picks up the burning table from underneath (possibly tilting it on its side) and hurls it out the door before it can jeopardize the rest of the house any further.
A stunt like that shouldn't be a problem with a Strength of 18.
Reflex save to avoid fire damage, if called for: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Chyro |
It's a large table, but a medium door.
Strength check 18, to lift this entire solid table.
Automatic fire damage though, with that attempt.
Spenser Quixote |
As long as its weight is less than my maximum carrying capacity (300 lbs.), I don't think I need to make a check to lift it.
GM Chyro |
There is no listing of weight of furniture like tables.
But a quick search on the web would suggest a solid oak table, to weigh over 350+ lbs.
Seems lifting that would require multiple people, no check involved.
Spenser Quixote |
Fair enough - I can drag/push up to 1500 lbs. Since it's only upwards of 400 lbs., I'd guess I should be able to push it through within the round.
GM Chyro |
You can drag/push within the house, but the table is too big for the door.
Spenser Quixote |
Even if tilted sideways?
What about the windows?
GM Chyro |
There were no windows in Hemzel's hut.
I've worked with moving furniture, and we sometimes wondered how people got some stuff through doors.
For tilting you'd have to lift it with multiple people, but i reckon with some of the others, you might pull it off.
Spenser Quixote |
Bear in mind 18 Strength is "Captain America" or "just shy of Beowulf" Strength - Spenser might not need that much help. On the face of it, lifting something off the ground (but not being able to hold it over one's head) can be done with anything weighing less than double my maximum carrying capacity - so I CAN lift it off the ground/tilt it sideways by myself.
GM Chyro |
PF isn't marvel....just assume this table requires 2 people to safely tilt/semi lift, and cautiously roll out of the door.
Spenser Quixote |
No, it's pulp fantasy adventure, where 18 Strength is the threshold of "heroic Strength" (think of the charts from 2nd Edition) that exceeds normal human ability. RAW does say I can do this without assistance (although assistance might speed me up).
GM Chyro |
Botting.
Kenji, after having cooled off the journal, steps onto the square and pockets it.
Spenser puts his muscles to the test, and the table is somewhat diagonal.
He rolls it 10 feet south.
He takes 1d6 ⇒ 1 from the fire in the process.
I'm doing 1 move to have it tilt into proper angle, and move at half speed.
-----------------------
Round 4
Sele
-------------
More fire stuff
-------------
Keera, Kenji & Vassago
Spenser
Spenser Quixote |
Since I originally told Lot to move out of the way under the impression I could move it out easily by myself, can we instead say I gave him the "work" command to help me get it out?
Handle Animal check if necessary/helpful for any reason: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Lot's Reflex save if necessary: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
GM Chyro |
There's no proper space for Lot to start pulling the rolling table with his mouth, however.
GM Chyro |
Botting.
Sele remains outside, waiting for his companions to finish dousing the fire.
------------------
The fire intensifies, and spreads!
The eastern side is now engulfed, and the square of the entrance, where Spenser is standing, catches fire.
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Moving through a square causes 1d6 fire damage.
-------------------
Keera, Kenji, Vassago
Spenser
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji finishes searching the body, then heads to the door and out. (standard and move?)
Spenser Quixote |
Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Moving through a square causes 1d6 fire damage.
Do I get a Reflex save at all?
if so: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
GM Chyro |
@ Kenji, sure.
@ Spenser, sorry, no reflex save for the fire in this one.
Keera douses Spenser.
Kenji moves out of the house.
Vassago
Spenser Feel free to post ahead.
Spenser Quixote |
Shall we say Vassago douses the doorway?
Spenser finishes pushing the table out the door.
Assuming I need to make a Reflex save now, I would like to keep the one above, if I may.
GM Chyro |
No reflex needed Spenser.
Spenser finishes rolling the table out the door, while Vassago puts out the fire at the entrance.
-------------------------
Round 5
Sele assumingly watches the bonfire.
----------------
The fire keeps going.
----------------
Keera, Kenji, Vassago
Spenser
Gire: "How goes the fight against the fire, are you winning?"
Keera Airbornt |
It looks we're losing
Can we extinguish all the fire if we focus on it? If it looks posible Keera will continue doing it. If not she will pick the dead druid body to move it out of the house
GM Chyro |
You can only extinguish 1 square per person per round.
Still, you guys douse 2 per round, and can win, which i imagine is more than the average party does, when it comes to fighting fires.
GM Chyro |
Shall i be botting this thing?
Or are the plans for dousing revised?
Vassago Ilsidore |
Sorry, I plan on stopping the fire outright in case there are any other clues we may wish to see. GM: would it be quickly to assume that Keera and I would eventually put out the fire without much more damage to the house at this rate? Just to speed this up?
Kenji Nishida |
If they still need help (ie more than just the spells), Kenji will go back in and smother flames with his cloak or something... only left cause I thought they had this thing under control and KEnji'd just be in the way.
GM Chyro |
Got a blanket? Your cloak might burn equally fast. ;)
Round 5:
Keera and Vassago douse 2 squares.
Round 6:
Repeat
Round 7:
Repeat
By now, half of it has been doused.
-----------
Round 8:
The flames spread again, as the fire intensifies.
They will deal 2d6 fire dmg currently.
By round 11, only 2 are burning.
At round 12, fire spreads again, but within a few rounds, you have completely doused the burning squares.
Gj guys.
Vassago Ilsidore |
Vassago steps outside, then sits as he rests himself after stretching his power to call upon all of the water he used. "That was exhausting, mi amigos." He then turns to Kenji and asks, "Anything of interest in there?", referring to the journal he saved.
Kenji Nishida |
"DUnno... haven't had time to look at it yet... " He pulls it out and hands it to Vassago to peruse while he goes back into the smoldering remains and tries to recover anything else of value... When done, he returns to find out what was in the journal.
Keera Airbornt |
Keera inspects the house to see if there's any clue on why was the druid attacked.
Percepción: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
The she drags out the druid and the wolf, check their belongings and give them a proper burial.
Kenji Nishida |
perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
said he was going in to look for anything of value, and then didn't roll perception... here it is
GM Chyro |
The journal is written in druidic, Keera's going to have to translate after the searching. ;)
Keera and Kenji do indeed come across some items underneath a table at the wall.
potion of barkskin +2, a potion of bear’s endurance, and two
scrolls of lesser restoration, amulet of natural armor +1 and a pouch with 240 gp.
The lorestone is keyed to druidic circles, and one lies several hours’ travel north from the hut on a lake island.
A band of fey has recently been harassing Hemzel and threatening to destroy the lorestone.
Hemzel assiduously avoided exposing the lorestone to sunlight.
The sun’s rays striking the lorestone inside of a druidic circle disintegrates it.
Kenji Nishida |
"If no one objects, I'd like to use that potion of barkskin... when it's needed of course."
Keera Airbornt |
No problem my part, I had that spell memorized in case someone need it.
I'll take the scrolls to use them if needed. Then she proceeds to translate the journal to her friends.
GM Chyro |
Keera would have liked to give the wolf and Hemzel a proper burial, but as she drags Hemzel's body out of the hut, some voices are heard and they are closing in.
Just then, a band of gnomes, one accompanied by a wolverine, stop near the hut.
"Hemzel's hut!....Hemzel!", the gnomes see you at the scene, dragging Hemzel's body.
The front one speaks;
"You....who are you?! Why are you here...and what have you done with our friend?!!"
Whoever took items, a sleight of hand please.
I doubt you'll flunk this, but you have 3 rounds to get these guys into a better state of mind.
Spenser Quixote |
"Hail, and well met! We art emissaries of the Pathfinder Society, questing in frith for The Stories of thine folk! We ken that there hath been strife twixt our esteemed body and thine circle, but pray be assured this act of blood and fire was not by our hand!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Kenji Nishida |
soh: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
GM Chyro |
Perception speaker vs Keera: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Better you roll a sleight of hand 16, Keera, if you indeed took those scrolls.
Perception speaker vs Kenji: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
The speaker is unimpressed by Spenser, in fact, he seems even angrier.
"Yes, the so called explorers organization.
Hemzel and i have had discussion on your ethics and methods on several occasions. Is that speech of yours meant to try and confuse us?"
The gnome looks pretty upset.
As Spenser missed the DC by 5+, their disposition became worse.
Well, if there was anything worse than hostile. Sele & Vassago, could you work your silver tongues? DC 24 atm.
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji stays silent, knowing he'd likely make it worse if he spoke up.
Keera Airbornt |
sleight of hand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Not really, he talk this way always
Are those things fey? I have a boon to autodiplomatize them if so
Vassago Ilsidore |
"We are but friends here; we came to discuss things with Hemzel peacefully until we found his hut attacked. Another band of fey felled Hemzel and set fire to his hut and we just spent the last two minutes trying to put it out so it won't spread! Perhaps we can discuss this more in details civilly, no?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
GM Chyro |
Yup, that covers it smoothly.
However if Sele does another coating, you might get a reward.
GM Chyro |
*Holds up a sign: Sele the Silvertongued*
