Tuneya and Aleris, don't tempt me. If I keep thinking about an archaeology party, I will let my brain off its leash again and you will be flooded in song parodies. And you thought the necropolis was scary...

Tuneya, I'll be leaving for work in an hour, where I need to keep my brain slightly more leashed.
Granted, librarians are allowed very long leashes at work, but there are limits! Still the next lull we have in the game you can reasonably expect another song to come bounding out. Like Harmose's proverbs, I seem to have a rather infinite supply of them.
It's a pity that there isn't much of a market for improvised on the spot song lyrics and poetry -- in another era, I would have used this oddball talent to entertain my hosts at dinner parties. I often thought that I had a missed calling as a court jester.

Harmose Al-Nefer |

After looking over the experience sheet, GM Samy, are we already most of the way through level 1? Does this mean that we may possibly level while in this tomb?

Regina dei Dannati |

Harmose, it looks like that's 800XP for the group, not each. So we are 10.3% of our way toward Level 2 Awesomeness.

Okay, my brain slipped its leash again. I'm not even going to identify the source of this parody, but let you all have the pleasure of naming it for yourselves.

It does not surprise me that you missed the reference. I imagine that Rocky Horror Picture Show is not that big a hit in Spanish-speaking countries. The "Time Warp" is a must dance song that appears at all geeky proms (it did at mine!) and science fiction conventions.
Though, oddly enough, I saw it for the first time in Stockholm as a child. There is nothing more surreal than sitting in a movie theater filled with punk swedish teenagers who are all watching Rocky Horror politely and silently...

Ooh, you can draw OOTS figures? Awesome. Harmose looks just like his picture, only wearing a bedsheet. Think of a youthful Julio Scoundrel and you'll have him right.
Hugs
Harmose

EDITED to ADD: What was your home country, if I may beg to ask? I'm an American, but I lived out of a suitcase as a child and lived in a number of different countries. None Spanish-speaking though... I learned the little Spanish that I have on the job in the public library. I speak Spanish like an intelligent two year old. "Tengo mucho palabras de vocabulario pero poca gramatica."
I admire how facilely you post in a language not your own. I know how hard that is, and I applaud how well you do at it.

My home country is Perú, AKA "llamaland", AKA "that place where Machu Picchu is".Ive lived in america and brazil, if only briefly, but I think i wouldnt get used to any other country .

"Eso esta bastante bien dicho por cierto!"
Well there are next to 0 pbp games in spanish, actually rpg support in spanish is pretty slim, its like almost mandatory to know a little bit of english if you really want to get into it.
Altought I have reccently started a group on rolld20 which have over 200 members, all spanish speakers rpg players. Maybe is just a matter of getting people toguether, idk.
In my case ive been studying english for a long time, teached a little, worked a little, etc. So I could say im used to it, but of course there a lots of thing a need to learn. Basically my objective at pbp is twofold, not only im having fun but im practicing my writing skills while on it, which is awesome.
One of my aims this year is to get the cambrige CPE (highest nonative grade certification) which will of course help me a lot professionally, so im looking at all places where i can perfect my english .

Harmose Al-Nefer |

"Usted muy amable. Y un mentiroso dulce."
So you're from Peru? I've heard it's lovely, though I've never had the pleasure of going there. Are you in Lima?
I know how bad my Spanish is. Fortunately, I have a BIG vocabulary from years of doing bilingual storytimes where we count, sing and do puppets in two languages. Getting random reference questions from Spanish speakers at the desk helps build vocabulary, too.
When my brain goes off leash again (it will; it always does...) I will be sure to include a youtube context reference in the future. Though, maybe not if the source is Disney or the Beatles. For some reason, those are two that seem to be known everywhere.
I wish you luck in getting your CPE. And I love that you are using your pbp experience to build your english skills.
When you next teach an english class, be sure to teach your students the "Time Warp" (though you may want to change some lyrics to avoid getting into a conflict with their parents.)

Another thought before I head to bed... What time zones are everyone posting from? I'm from U.S. Central time zone.

Harmose Al-Nefer |

Its done! the party so far, i took some liberties with it, i hope i got it right. Next are regina and tuyena when i get their references!
Oh, I'm glad I did one last check of my post to see this!
Wenet is so forceful! All hail the mighty rabbit!
That's a fabulous picture! Will you be doing Regina and Tuneya as well once you get their descriptions?
We have such a creative group.
PS GM Samy, I am including you in that statement. From your narrative posts, it is very clear that you are an excellent writer and storyteller.

Yes of course, i may even make a composing based on our adventures, like a very small comic, who knows
Thats of course when we get an epic battle or someting like that :)

Harmose Al-Nefer |

Well, I love it. I especially loved that you included Wenet without me asking you to do so. It means that I may actually have done an okay job roleplaying my familiar so far...

NICE!! Turel and Roy could be almost...cousins, he he.
BTW I am in the Paizo time zone, AKA Pacific Time Zone.

You should also do GM Samy, the hot redhead in the horned hat...

Thats a good idea, chapter 36, "party meets god" lol

Harmose Al-Nefer |

So... While we're waiting to find out how to climb from A2 to A3 (just looked at the map) let's chat. What is your favorite bit of ancient Egypt mythology, history or whatever? Did any of you folks have an "Egyptian" period in your childhood? I did, along with a "Dinosaur" period, "Greek Mythology" and "Astronomy" periods.
What were the obsessions of your youth?

Turel Garaldo |

Mine was old school D&D, from the Basic set (I loved the Keep on the Borderlands) through the early days of AD&D. The very first module I played in was the old U1 Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. The treasure found at the end of the module was really cool. It was called
One of the best adventures I played through when I was a young teenager was the old Desert of Desolation series (I3-I5), why I really wanted to get into this game. Old school Tomb crawling at its finest!

Harmose Al-Nefer |

I've never been big on video games. I love mysteries, fantasies, books of all sorts (yeah, librarian) and writing stories. I also love board games.
I guess I want to play with real people rather than computers. In the case of pbp, I'm using a computer to play with real people.

Aleris Somciel |
Well, I certainly didn't have an unhappy childhood (far from it) but seeing as I had no siblings/cousins/neighbors close to me in age and I mainly only saw my school friends at well, school, I had to entertain myself most of the time when I was at home. Video games (RPGs) and reading were how I accomplished that :)
As for now, I enjoy PBPs for the in-depth interaction. I also play World of Warcraft when I'm feeling more sociable (though a lot of the content can be done solo, too). I'm introverted though, so sometimes single-player stuff is what I crave, especially after being around people at work all day.

Camus de Sable |

I have always liked greek/roman mythology from the time I was a child. I guess it was due to the "The storyteller" which was a big hit by the time I was 5-8. While i liked mythology stories, my favorite story is probably by far the "the soldier and the death", its also probably one of the weirdest and most epics stories of all the time in my opinion, and the way it starts is just hilarious. One day I should make a bag of holding that works ash his xD
Im pretty sure watching that show gave a complete run on world myhtos and legends, one could say I may not enjoy rpgs as much if it wasnt because of it.
I do play videogames a lot, altought im not particulary fond of MMOs, i particulary like strategy games and also RPGs with interesting stories. I basically like stories, thats why i like tabletop games so much, not only its story creation but its also something you build little by little trought the mechanics

Harmose Al-Nefer |

All I can say is that it is a darn good thing that Harmose didn't have to roll his climb checks going down. There is a reason my characters carry canisters of impact foam when they can afford it.
Let's face it: with my hit points, I cannot afford even non-lethal damage in this dungeon.

Harmose Al-Nefer |

Regina and Aleris, I cannot help but notice that both us you use Wayfinder to post. How is that program? Does it really speed things up for pbp?

Regina dei Dannati |

I tried it about 6 months ago, and it consistently didn't find my campaigns, so I uninstalled it. Seeing Aleris use it, I thought "I've already paid for it, why not try again?" and it works much better now.
Not perfect, but certainly better than the DC25 Dexterity checks needed to enter something like My Awesome Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 using the virtual keyboard on my Kindle Fire.
Real computer is still preferred, but on the whole I'd say Wayfinder is worth a dollar spent.

Aleris Somciel |
To echo what Regina said, I mainly use it to make short dialogue posts or to post combat actions when I know I won't be near a computer for awhile. It makes formatting much quicker than trying to manually do it via my phone's internet browser.
That said, it lacks an edit function and I think certain additions to the campaign tab can bork it up. I could access my Shattered Star game fine until the GM started adding map links and Google doc stuff. But for just a buck or two, I'm satisfied with it :)

The toughest part of being in a game like this is getting so excited about the characters that you can't wait for the next post...
But, since we are waiting, let's play a game. I've been thinking about the awesome campaign speech Regina gave to us a bit ago, selling her concept of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Imagine a campaign slogan for your character or another character in this game. No, you're not allowed to use, "No butt left behind" for Harmose. I'm ruling that one right out.
It also does not matter that the character in question would never run for political office... In fact, I think that it might be funnier writing about the introverts than about the extroverts.
All right, I'll start us off:
Tuneya: "Better living through chemistry!"
Have fun...
