Then she notices Laurent get swarmed by the rats.

"$#@%! LIRI! You got some kind of healing spell that can help Laurie? The rats are gonna nom him to death!"

Holding till I get that dagger so I can go to town on these critters.


everyone could technically use the silver ravens in their bag as improvised weapons. lol.

Stellx stops laughing and says "Hey now it cant be that easy." as he flies up and hides near the posts in the water using them as cover.

Poor Laurent; hurt, diseased and infested with lice. Might be enough for even Aldren to feel sympathy for the noble man's son.

The priest of vengeance steps back from the sludge devil (5' step), then tosses the dagger to Berenice(move?). Finding himself now in the awkward position of being weaponleas, he does the only thing he can...

If tossing the dagger to B is a move action, he will channel. If it's a standard, he does nothing.

Channel energy (no save, selective channel): 1d3 ⇒ 1 and they're immune to poison and the damned grimple is too far away so...meh

Silver Crusade

I'm not sure what happened to the map, but it is showing as rather messed up to me, so I cannot see where I am and where Laurent is so I am not sure how far I need to move to make sure he gets included in a channel, but that will be my stated action.

Lirana will move just far enough to include Laurent in a healing channel, catching anyone else she can in it as well, bu excluding the creatures they are fighting. Yeah, I know I may get an AoO for this.

That may have been my fault. I was clicking while waking up this morning and when I went to move Aldren's token my iPhone screen went white and seemed to freeze. I think I just fixed it. Sorry!

Laurent smiles as the warmth of positive energy fill him, filling the myriad bite marks he had sustained with new flesh.

"Thank you, Shelyn," he says quietly, closing his eyes in a moment of prayer.

Drawing his short sword, he moves to line himself up so that he and Aldren, or perhaps someone else, can easily flank the nearby fiend.

@lirana- I moved you to where you could effect everyone, and use selective channel on enimies and get everyone.

Sorry, I was waiting for Aldren to post tossing the dagger to me before I made the attack. Also, did the dagger change size when Aldren got it? I thought it was a Medium-sized dagger, which...technically would have the same stats as my Small-sized gladius. And...can Berenice hear Stellx's taunt? If so she's gonna be P!SSED!

Aldren, it looks like we're flanking one of the lemures, so I'm going to have Laurent just attack it. The most I can do is 1 point of damage.

Laurent attempts to puncture the evil pile of goo with his sword, though he is skeptical of his potential effectiveness against the monster.

I think I'm at a +3 here due to +2 Dex, +2 flank, -1 lice infestation.

Going to take a gamble here... GM: I'm going to cast inflict light wounds without casting defensively. It will trigger an AoO. Going to post a series of rolls here for you to resolve according to the results of the AoO

Concentration check (only needed if hit by AoO, DC=10+1+(damage taken): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Hopefully should be enough even if it hits me

With the sludge creature constantly banging against his armor, the half-elf has little attention to spare for the fey, though he files Lirana's comment away in a corner of his mind. Holy symbol in one hand and shield in the other, Aldren calls to Calistria to strike down the devil.

And I love everything there except the damage. Damn it.

Carawyn, her wounds healed by Lirana's energy, frowns as the rope doesn't do what she wants and twitches it, sending it lashing out again, again only to see it fail to wrap around its target.

"We think they must be immune to ropes," she helpfully points out.

She attempts to stab the lemure, frustrated that it seems to lack obvious spots that will hurt when appropriately stabbed.

Aldren takes a few breathes to calm himself, picks up his morningstar, looks in the direction the blasted grimple fled, and repeats what he said at the start of this fight. "I bloody well told you so."

He kicks the sludge devil in the head, pushes his hair back in place, then a smile clicks back into place. "Now then...shall we be off? I'm in desperate need of a bath and massage after all this."

The half-elf briefly wonders about destroying the runes to free the grimple...and decides it's entirely appropriate to leave it trapped here until it dies.

The smile shifting to more of a grin, Aldren watches Bee run after the fey. A heartbeat passes. Well, Mistress, if this is what you want, who am I to argue... He begins walking after Berenice, swapping out the morningstar and shield for his crossbow, into which he loads a bolt. He begins to whistle while inside his head he sings, A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go, hi ho the merry-oh, hunting a fey we will go.

there wont be any more combat for at least a week to level up. (remember my rule you can change anything on your character until level 2 including stats, skill points, feats, archetype, anything... but background and class.)

knowledge arcana dc 17 in the ward room:
the wards will keep in any outsider creature in the immediate area, but every year there is a 10% chance to bring in a Lemure from the Hells. It will only stop if the wards are destroyed. If not stopped there is a 1% chance each year per creature that the ward is destroyed

On the assumption that's a handwave that Stellx escapes...

Aldren gamely follows Berenice in pursuit of the grimple but, after several minutes of looking and even some taunts from the half-elf--"Oh Stellx... if you don't come out, you'll be stuck here foreeeever", and "Such a shame what happened to you family. Was it the entire family? ... I hope so."--he eventually gives up with a sigh, unloads and slings the crossbow, then shrugs at Berenice. "Missed opportunities rarely return. Shall we go find that fop? Tex? Rex? Probably upstairs drinking more wine."

Laurent withdraws a handkerchief from his pocket and does his best to wipe the sweat, and other fluids, from his face and hands.

"I think I might need to join him in drinking some of that wine, if he's got any. I can't say I was expecting to be vomited on, then covered in lice, and finally almost eaten by rats all in one afternoon," Laurent says to Aldren.

"By the way, thank you for that timely healing prayer," he continues, giving the Lirana a short bow.

Walking over to the arcane symbols on the wall, he inspects them,
though of course he has no idea what they might do. "Mlle Finwinkle, have you been able to make heads or tails of the magic in this room? Why would anyone want to capture slime monsters in the basement of an old livery? Also, are they producing the music?"

Any chance for knowledge of the music? Is it related to the ward? Also, will level up ASAP.


After another few minutes. Rex comes down and joins you. wiping the sweat off his face. he says "Wow look at you, we were getting worried that something happened to you down here. Beppe has better eyes to watch so he told me to go down here to check on you." you see that he has his sword out. "What did you find?"

(unfortunately there isn't anything more you can find out about the music. since you killed the rats you don't hear it anymore, but you do know the wards had nothing to do with the music.)

Out of character, I'm thinking whoever suggested a haunt is correct. Something messed up happened down there.

Aldren flashes a grin at Laurent and almost slaps him on the back. Almost. His hand winds up hovering in mid-air before he pulls it back with a chagrined chuckle. "Ah, yeah... You really got the raw end of it there. Not that you need to hear a half-blood bastard tell you so, but you did well. Next time we're at a cathouse, it's on me... and, uh, we'll make sure she doesn't have lice, okay?"

When Rex reappears, Aldren looks at him and professes shock and bewilderment, "What? No wine to toast our victory?" A wink betrays the jest. "We found some crates of supplies; weapons and some magical items. Along with a chamber inscribed with magical runes and a pair of... I don't know... sludge devils or something." The jovial manner fades a bit. "Sure you don't know anything more of this place that you can tell us? I get the sense something terrible happened to the Silver Ravens."

Speaking of magical items... I need to see if that bloody fey took that other cloak.

Rex moves to look through the belongings In the crates. after a few moments he pulls out the Iron case with a Mythril lock. after a moment Rex pulls out after checking his pockets a mythril key. surprisingly the key fits. Rex tells everyone and opens the case. inside you find the following.

"Ba gave me this key. I cant believe it worked."

Rex pulls out a scroll of misdirection, scroll of pass without trace, scroll of whispering wind, and a scroll of undetectable alignment.

in addition there appears to be hundreds of pages written in a secret code.

Rex mutters "This looks like a combination of elven, Styrix, celestal, and one other I don't recognize. This will take months to decode."

@aldren- someone already took it I think. (anyone want to do a loot list?)

@lirana- No one knows.

Aldren hears the twang of a bow string being released, intuits exactly what is going on, and shrugs at Carawyn, "No idea, but I'm sure she's fine. She'll holler if she needs help. Don't worry about it." Still, he can't help the enormous grin on his face.

To Rex's discovery, "Hmm. I can speak Elven, roughly, but... I don't even know what Styrix is. Is there someone in town anyone trusts who might be able to decipher this? A flair for languages would seem to be in order."

On the loot, I can put together a table tonight if it would be helpful. On the red cloak, I thought we found one from the grimple, that we decided to leave as a peace offering, then another in the crates downstairs. Now, I was not thinking Aldren would take spellcraft, but I can shift a point into that if it would be helpful. I only get 2 points/level, so I'm a bit skill-poor.

Immediately suspicious, Laurent cocks his head to the side when Rex says that Ba gave him the key to the chest. "Monsieur Ba gave you that, you say? How did he get a hold of it?

For the moment, he just ignores Berenice's attempt to hunt for Stellx, as he has had quite enough of being vomited on for the afternoon.

When Aldren mentions translating the coded documents, he says, "I know a bit of Elven too. But I have a strong suspicion that if M. Ba gave Lord Rexus that key, he may be able to do the translating for us."

@Laurant aldren and lirana- "He wouldn't say, I didn't even know what it went to at the time. He didn't tell me, he just said it might be useful. We should be getting this stuff outta here, and to a safe location. If no one else has any ideas I might have a few."

after a few moments he adds "Mister Aldren, I know it seem odd but even though he started some of this I have a feeling I can trust him. But I understand your hesitance you may be right. "

@lirana- "there is no need for the spell milady, you see I already have it to try." Rex casts comprehend languages. "I'm afraid that the code makes it unreadable. I will need some time with this. If you want me to try at it."
