Handing the scroll to Rowan Julian nods with her assessment. "I'll leave that too you then. Now..." He hesitated for a moment as his ward fell away before pulling out a potion similar to his old Mutagen one. "Time to rip this place up..." He downed the mutagen and for a moment nothing happened.

Then he felt the surge in his muscles, followed by the shifting of his skeletal structure. He looked to his companions as he spoke shakily. "I think.... this time... The ratio's ... are .... ugh... Right. Don't... be.... afraid." His mind was reeling, whether he had said it for their benefit or his own was unknown even to himself as his mind went blank.

Roar!

Look here:

He staggered back from the table, gripping his head with his free hand and swinging with Einherjar with his other. Attacking something unseen for a few brief moments before placing the tip of his blackblade into the floor. Over the course of a few seconds his muscles became more defined, his vestigal wings became lessened by the fact that he was growing more Feral looking. His hands developed claws, his face broke into a muzzle like a dog and a pair of ram horns grew rapidly from his skull. His legs became fully digigrade and when he stood again he towered over his companions. A full seven feet tall and covered lean dense muscles...

He looked around its surroundings with a lost expression, inhaling the air through its enlarged nose and looking to its only to companions breifly before inhaling deeply. Cocking it's head as it spoke in a gutteral speech. "I have control." With that said the new mutant julian began to stride towards the stairwell leading down to the first floor...

Lets get this party started! Heading down tot he first floor! Character sheet updated to Feral Mutagen Julian!
Duration 40 mins more than likely its enough time to clear the first level -hopefully-...

With inhuman dexterity the mutant creeps its way quietly down the stairs, watching for any sign of movement or a coming attack...

Along one wall of this long room stands a smashed sideboard. A stone staircase leads upstairs. It seems empty - probably deserted when your foes gathered together - but the door is locked... from your side.

Inhaling deeply he crept along and used magic to detect any unseen magical traps that could be around. his claws drew arcane circles in the air as he verbalized the spell, however his armor's restrictive nature disrupted his movements the first time. Still unused to his new form he tried again and successfully casted it...

He presses forward after the others had gathered. "Spread out... We can't be caught in there spells..."
Each word was gutteral and grainy like a dog trying to eek out each word but surprisingly he was able to speak somewhat clearly despite his new form...

Once they were ready he unlocked the door and peered into the area beyond...

A bracket shows where a longsword once hung over a stylized gold sunburst affixed to the south wall. Lines of strange runes are carved into the walls on both sides of the sunburst. Dried blood and excrement have been smeared across the sunburst and a short bench for kneeling that sits on the floor.

It's easy for Rowan to tell that this alcove was created as a shrine to Iomedae where visiting guards knelt and prayed before moving deeper into the garrison. The runes are prayers to Iomedae written in Celestial, but the letters are unusually florid and complex. They read "Let us inherit thine arms, Iomedae."

It would not take more than a few minutes to clean the shrine.

Tarov whistles as Julian turns into a strange, monstrous creature, but takes the man's words at face value. "I trust ya, lad. Sadly, I get th' feelin' we'll need ya like this." The dwarf positions himself between the transformed tiefling and the aasimar woman, weapon readied as they search through the garrison.

When they come upon the desecrated shrine to Iomedae, Tarov frowns and makes attempts to help Rowan clean the place. "Ya helped with the shrine underground, this is th' least I can do," he explains.

It doesn't take long to clean the room, and Julian is able to pass through the archway west, into the next chamber.

Along the northern wall of this room, a frieze depicts a line of mounted crusaders crashing over a horde of twisted demons. The crusaders' faces have been obliterated and vile graffiti is carved over the entire scene. Fresh blood stains the floor. A pair of large, well-made doors stand to the south, locked from this side - the front entrance that you couldn't get through earlier.

This room was once some sort of museum, but its contents have been smashed and scattered across the room-even the shelves have been shattered and torn apart in places. The decapitated bodies of two knights, their armor and bodies broken and mangled, lie in the ruins.

That was of slightly less concern, for the moment Julian opened the door, a feline-like elf with yellow eyes, dark blue fur, and a swishing tail shot across the chamber and jumped at him, scratching and biting with an angry snarl as he tried to rip into Julian with a surprise attack.

Despite the injuries inflicted on him he did not fall and would not fall, not yet. Summoning up arcane might he slashed with EInherjar in what would be a savage strike if it landed and swiftly followed that with a bite and claw attack to rip his opponents eyes and throat out.

At the end of all that he did the only sensable thing and fell back a few steps. If the creature was going to end him than it would have to do it on his terms...

Yeah, 21 HP. I might feel bad, but it was nothing more than a legitimately random result in a level-appropriate encounter where you all simply had atrocious luck, and I don't exactly mind keeping you on your toes. XD Such things happen.

Tarov, it is possible to move into the room, but it's not easy. At the very least, you'd need to make an Acrobatics check to move past the enemy.

"Get back, lad!" Tarov cries as the creature tears at his mutated companion, weapon pointed at the doorway as Julian backs off.

Julian, if I recall correctly, mixing natural and manufactured weapons gives you a -5 penalty on the natural attacks (as they're treated as Secondary attacks). Unless you have an ability overcoming that...?

The creature doesn't seem to be a planar entity - or, if it is, it's not one Julian recognizes. Regardless, his blade and bite both hit, and Tarov slapped a bit more sense into the ferocious beast a moment later, adding his restorative powers to Rowan's as a way of negating the damage the creature had caused. Teamwork was a lovely thing.

Wasting no time at all, the creature lashed out with its own claws and bite, clearly trying to wear Julian down and quite literally rip him apart.

Julian had a hard time controlling himself now that the creature continued to target him. He opened his mouth in a wordless roar as he pressed the attack. His blows were more wild and reckless as he tried to slash his opponent with Einherjar. Saliva flew from his snapping jaws as he slammed together far, far off target before he swung with his clawed hands as he kept trying to rip into the creatures flesh...

The mutant searched its knowledge for the creatures origin, not for understand it but for whatever weak points it may have...

Between the two of them, Tarov and Julian are able to put the beast down for good, and its lifeless body slumps to the floor. The room is now open for exploration, and it doesn't take long at all to notice an adamantine morningstar that glows with the light of magic, or that the two fallen warriors are wearing insignia that identify them as Paladins of Iomedae... and people Rowan once knew and fought beside.

"Tarov, please help me carry them to the Alcove. Let them rest beneath the Inheritor's eye while we finish this." Once sheplaced them in the alcove, she covered them in her bed roll and spoke a prayer over there fallen forms. "... may Iomedae grant you peace."

Tarov nods at Rowan's request, moving to lift one of the fallen Iomedeans over his shoulder. "We'll need t' get 'em outta here 'fore we head back. Ain't no way the ground here isn't tainted by th' damned cultists."

It takes only a few moments to bring them out to the shrine, and what little is left of their bodies seems to be just a bit more at ease as they're set to rest in front of the altar of their goddess. However, it's true that there is still a job to do - and you must decide where to go next.

Shaking his head, lost in thought he had hardly noticed the others moving past as he tried to identify this creature. At Rowan's words he stood, intent on studying it later. "Lets continue. The door to the north was still unopened... Best to be prepared for the worst..."

Julian moved towards the northern door that they hadn't explored yet.

IN light of Rowan's post edit

Julian pulled back and kept Einherjar in hand in case they encountered something foul...

Tarov nods, doing as Rowan asks.

Blood and filth smear floor of this long room. Six white stone statues of famous heroes line the hall-each clawed, bloodstained, partially smashed, or otherwise defaced. At the far end of the hall, a raised dais holds an upturned alabaster altar. Sitting atop the upside-down altar is a hideous mass of severed limbs that have been stitched together into a vile monstrous insectoid shape. Before the dais, seven ratty bedrolls have been laid out on the floor.

A magical invisibility field dropped as all three of you stepped into the room, revealing three cultists and a figure dressed in fine robes - another tiefling, who wasted no time at all in hurtling a rather familiar-looking vial through the air and right towards Tarov...

The bomb didn't have the desired effect as the Tiefling probably hoped, nor was she so foolish as to rush headlong at them either. Let them chant their spells, they'd crush them as they did before. As Julian lobbed a bomb at the Tiefling she too targeted the same foe with her mental attack. Hoping to tear useful information from their mind as she stepped back to minimize the next bombs impact...

The spell is... what? Even when the more magically-inclined members of the group work to identify it, it remains frustratingly opaque to understanding. Whatever it is, it's sure as heck not normal, although the fact that it's made of negative energy seems apparent enough. It... may not actually be a spell.

Julian's bomb got through the barrier, at least, and Rowan's spell shot through the air...

Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Meanwhile, the other cultists were busy pointing their holy symbols at the wall of negative energy, and steady streams of power were flowing out of the symbols and into the creation. Taking them down would probably lower the barrier, assuming you could do it quickly enough.
