Prothero Crace |
"What a horrifying notion, to become one of those things!" says Prothero. "I guess you're right, we need to finish this job and get out of here. You say I have several hours? That ought to be time enough...at least I hope it is."
He waits for a few others to enter ahead of him, then goes through the door to the south.
Floggentop Wizzbottle III |
Wizzy will fire up his Inspire Coruage before the door is opened, since buffs are going out.. +3 hit/dam, +2 saves vs fear/+1 vs charm.. For those of you with Heroism you have a +4 to hit total. Plus the haste..
GM Bold Strider |
Mad laughter echoes in this cramped stone chamber. The stench of sewage battles the cold of the mist, but through the haze can be seen smears of blood across the floor, walls, and ceiling, as well as the doors of several stalls.
Sitting in the center of the room, surrounded by blood and gore, sits a pudgy, bald human, who is cackling maniacally. Sheg, what is we going to do when the Master comes? SHEG! The man violently shakes a dismembered half-orc's head.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
SHEEEEEEEEG!!! WHO DID THIS TO YOU!!!! NOOOOOO!!! The man screams at the head.
Oh wait, I did! That's right. You was a bad Sheg... He starts to laugh again, madness clearly enveloping any other personality of the man.
PFS PREGEN |
Look, we need to engage the man, he is too caught up in his own madness. Besides, I am pretty sure the man confessing to murdering the other individual clearly shows his impure intentions.
If no one else is willing to, Kyra steps forward to try to block off the man's escape or ability to attack any other party members. She then says in a clear voice, Excuse me, but why did you kill Sheg?
Unless some stops her, but we only have so many rounds of haste and whatnot :)
GM Bold Strider |
The man doesn't respond to Kyra's attempts to address him. Sheg. Oh Sheg. Why have you left me? I haven't left you, Madroog! We are best friends! We are best friends! "Madroog" is moving the jaw of the head and poorly ventriloquising, but he seems satisfied by this.
@Floggy: Make an Intelligence check.
Floggentop Wizzbottle III |
It finally dawns on Wizzy as he remembers the cloth.. Pulling it out he uses it to create the unique countersong to breaks the man insanity..
Perform if needed: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 Both my counterspell rolls were horrible. A 1 and a 2..
GM Bold Strider |
I don't know if there is a roll associated with it. I think you just have to spend a round countersonging.
The hold breaks on the man and his eyes widen in horror as his eyes stare at the dismembered head of his friend in his hands. OH GOD! SHEG! The man starts to weep quietly in the corner. He slowly looks about the room, surveying the madness. His eyes lock on the bathroom stall to his right and he immediately shuts up.
Then he stands up, wide-eyed, apparently afraid and runs as fast as he can towards the entrance of the bathroom, screaming his head off. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
If the Pathfinders don't stop him, he runs past you and out of the exhibit doors, likely to the exit.
Prothero Crace |
Prothero stands in the doorway and cries out, "Stop! We'd like to talk to you!" If the man tries to pass him, he attempts to trip him to the floor.
Trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Giradoux the Messanger |
- Less Rod Ext 2/3
- 1 lvl 4/5 left
- 2 lvl 3/3

Giradoux and Rowles just stand in the doorway to act like statues.
well, that was a waste of haste. At least we don't have to be complete murder-hobos :D
GM Bold Strider |
You trip the man with your whip and he tumbles to the ground. No, please no! AHHHH!
Perception:
Prothero: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Gilthanis: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Giradoux: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Rowles: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Blackjack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Prothero, Floggentop, Giradoux and Blackjack hear a loud hiss behind them, coming from where the man's eyes looked before he took off running.
1d4 ⇒ 1
Prothero Crace |
Prothero raises his bow, an arrow nocked and his attention focused on where the hiss came from. "What's in there?" he asks the fallen man, "What are you running from?"
Prothero Crace |
I'd like to consider Prothero's action to be readying an attack, in case something appears. Sound reasonable? Otherwise, he didn't actually take any actions.
Rowles the dragonkin |
Rowles, seeing and apparently hearing nothing gives a snort and heads into the room.
"Why are you all standing there? C'mon there's nothing to be afraid of in here
And he walks in
Giradoux the Messanger |
- Less Rod Ext 2/3

Surprised to see Rowles head into the room after Giradoux most definitly a noise, Giradoux stumbles unexpectedly behind him "WAIT!. STOP ROWLES! HOW DID YOU MISS THAT NOISE???"
Also, enters the room following his eidolon.

Wow. Didn't realize Giant Crocodile meant Huge size creature. Had to go to the d20srd for the stat block since Giant Crocodile doesn't exist in PF.
As Giradoux and Rowles move forward, a giant crocodile rises up out of a hole in the far stall. Apparently the mists have seeped through the plumbing and somehow lured a giant crocodile to the Museum from the depths of the Absalomian sewers.
P.S. - That is what he was running from. Hah.
The giant crocodile lashes out at Rowles.

"Gods above! We should have let him run, and gone right with him!"
Prothero looses the arrow he has prepared.

Taking a short breath, and than swallowing nervously, Giradoux looks at the behemoth in front of him.
"Well, Gents, I think it's time we got down to business!"
Giradoux steps up and swings with all his might!
ATTACK!: 1d20 + 5 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 3 + 1 = 12
DAMAGE!: 1d10 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 3 = 21
edit: REALLY PAIZO DICE ENGINE? DO YOU HATE US?!?!?!?!
'Blackjack' Jaques |
It does! It just shoved a pineapple up us in King Xeros too.
Blackjack sticks to the back of the room and moves into melee from behind Giradoux
using his friend as cover to try avoid AOO
He then swings....

Aha! I thought that it had faded, will add that back in then - figured I only still had haste
GM Bold Strider |
Giradoux moves forward to cut down the giant crocodile and it lashes out at him as he moves.
Bite @ Rowles-18 AC: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Grab @ Rowles-17 AC: 1d20 + 21 - 20 ⇒ (7) + 21 - 20 = 8
It misses wildly, however Giradoux's swing with the bastard doesn't fare much better.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
It doesn't seem to perceive any serious threats against it at the moment, so it will attack the thing swinging a sword at it.
Bite @ Giradoux-18 AC: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 11 - 4 = 25
Damage: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (1, 2) + 12 = 15
It lashes out at Giradoux and savages him with its maw, but doesn't seem to want to grab him, likely due to the large number of threats it has to worry about. Just occurred to me that a cornered animal with multiple threats probably wouldn't get into a grappling match but just lash out at whatever attacks it in order to stay defensive.
Blackjack moves into to attack which causes the crocodile to lash out at him as well. Cover is only granted in cases of Medium creatures like that. Since the monster is huge and has reach, then it still threatens those areas. If I'm reading this correctly, specifically "Any creature with a space larger than 5 feet (1 square) determines cover against melee attacks slightly differently than smaller creatures do. Such a creature can choose any square that it occupies to determine if an opponent has cover against its melee attacks."
Bite @ Blackjack-19 AC: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 11 - 4 = 20
Damage: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (8, 3) + 12 = 23
Blackjack takes the blow and moves to cut down the beast, but his blade bounces off the beast's scaly exterior.
Initiative:
1st: Giradoux @ 19 HP
2nd: Crocodile @ 7 damage
3rd: Prothero; Blackjack @ 25 HP; Floggentop; Kyra; Rowles @ 11 HP

Prothero takes a quick step back and looses two arrows at the beast, but the crowd between him and his target throws his aim off badly.

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO KEEP WALKING!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'WARNED YOU'??? I DID!" Giradoux shouts at Rowles over the din of combat
Seeing the crocadile in agony (hopefully) from his Eidolon's strikes, Giradoux attacks as well.
