We've hit the 24 hour mark, so delaying Dove for now as we don't want to fall behind.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but for breath weapon, I can originate it from any intersection of the creature? Refer to map.
The beast wriggles itself under Ursus's hold, and turns his head to roar loudly, as it also releases a cloud of gas that fills almost the entirely the forest. AN ungodly smell fills the air, and enters the lungs of those near it.
Rathen, Timber, Ursus, Daxter is affected.
Wagon Driver B,R : 2d20 ⇒ (16, 20) = 36
One of the wagon drivers eyes start to turn green as he coughs badly due to the effects of the poison.
Red Con dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Combat Round 2

Pending:Timber fort vs Sicken. Rathen, Timber, Ursus, Daxter fort vs Poison breath.
Daxter Bateman |
Since I have Life Bubble up, I am immune to such things.
Daxter decides to move farther from the beast since he is obviously too close. He then throws a flurry of force missiles at the creature.
Magic Missiles: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 2, 3) + 5 = 19
GM Batpony |
I am headed to bed soon, go ahead and post actions in advance if need be, and also in anticipation of combat ending.
Rathen Wyrmblight |
Fort save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Rathen gags as he ingests the poisonous gas of the creature. He opts to get some distance from it, tumbling away to flank a driver.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (17) + 23 = 40
Once in position, he lashes out with Slasher, his magical gladius.
Attack w/+2 Adamantine Gladius: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36
Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Sneak Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 4, 6, 3) = 26
On mobile, so I can't update the map. Rathen would move to the square south of the red driver
Valrar Altimari II |
Moved Rathen.

GM Batpony |
Daxter and Valrar focus their efforts on the beast and it pays off. A couple of well placed stabs piercing it's critical veins, along with some force damage knocks the creature to death. Green and yellow blood ooze out from the creature.
Rathen falls ill to the effect of the poison but nonetheless ensures his usefulness as he deals with the wagon driver, killing him outright with Slasher.
The last driver pleads for his life as he slowly starts to wither and lose his form due to effects of the poison, in less than a minute, it is likely that he dies. He screams hysterically in pain for help.
End Combat!
Pending: Timber, Ursus, fort vs Poison breath.
Rathen, CON dmg Round 1: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Rathen can make his remaining save and dmg rolls
Pending: Rathen -6CON (Poison breath x5)
What does the group do now?
You are able to find some useful on the deceased, perhaps it might be of use to you in the future. A few scrolls and wands are found on the wizard. Daxter is easily able to identify most it, Scroll of Locate creature x2, Scroll of true strike x2, scroll of stoneskin x2. Among his positions, there is a note regarding terms of sale of the Catoblepas for 20,000gp to one Jorston Droaeb. It is clear that the beast is to be sold alive though.
They have no other magic item more than +2, let me know if you want everything listed. What does the group do now?
Ursus the Breaker |
Fort vs Breath: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (2) + 25 = 27
"Nice work everyone", Ursus offers the team as he wipes his hands clear on the clothing of one of the dead guards.
"We should plant some evidence leading anyone that finds this scene away from the Society? What about the survivors? I'd suggest we tie 'em up but bandits wouldn't bother with something like that."
Daxter Bateman |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (19) + 22 = 41
Daxter identifies the scroll and the wand after reading the note. "They were going to sell this beast to some Jorston Droaeb. Intriguing."
The Dove |
Sorry for not being around. Hard to get away on weekends.
The Dove has a few spell slots open, and prays for 2 lesser restorations and 1 neutralize poison for Rathen.
Anyone else need healing magics? The Dove asks.
Valrar Altimari II |
"Too bad we couldn't sell it to 'em instead, but they'd probably know something was up," Valrar drawls, poking at the beast's corpse curiously. "Be pretty difficult to subdue, too."
Rathen Wyrmblight |
"I... I don't feel so good," Rathen says, unequipped to deal with the poison.

Round 6 Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
@The Dove: If you have a lesser restoration or want to use my restoration scroll... I'd love you forever.
Rathen Wyrmblight |
"I.. Scroll," Rathen barely manages to point at his backpack.
Restoration scroll and diamond dust are in the backpack
The Dove |
The Dove sighs very audibly..and pulls out a wand of lesser restoration with 50 charges. Okay Rathen. Step right up, and take care of you.
The Dove is using 2 of his prepared spells before using charges. I'll let Rathen do the rolls.
Anyone take HP damage?
Rathen Wyrmblight |
"Thanks..."
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Just 5 charges. Thanks!
With his vigor restored, Rathen makes sure that those who were subdued, if still alive, are dragged to a safe location. Or did all the unconscious baddies get caught in the poison too?
Bishop Shepherd |
I think I'm doing this correctly.
Bishop dashes over to his companion, calling him back to meet as swiftly as possible, feeding the wolf antitoxin.
Timber:
FORT: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17 Pre-antitoxon
FORT: 1d20 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 5 = 27
FORT: 1d20 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 5 = 38
FORT: 1d20 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 5 = 19 REROLL
FORT: 1d20 + 13 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 5 + 5 = 36
Net damage CON: 1d6 ⇒ 4
GM Batpony |
As a result of that CON damage, there would have been HP lost.
It is safe to assume, all the Aspis and the mercenaries died in the struggle to survive.
The last survivor, the hired driver, dies a few seconds later as the Pathfinders are tending to their injured.
Fort Save, CON dmg?: 1d20 ⇒ 121d6 ⇒ 2
Fort Save, CON dmg?: 1d20 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 5
Rathan -84, Timber -4CON -30
GM Batpony |
Those who weren't dead died from the poison. No one has searched the covered wagon, if you do, you find an oversized chest filled to it's brim in gold bars.
Ursus the Breaker |
Ursus hauls the chest of gold bars out to his recovering companions. "We got what we came for. Let's get out of here. Rathan, are you good to walk? Is Timber strong enough to make the trip back?"
Rathen Wyrmblight |
"I can walk, thanks to the Dove. I could use a bit more healing magic though," he pulls out a wand. "Care to do the honours, Dove?"
Assuming the Dove uses the wand for Rathen.
Cure Light Wounds x10: 10d8 + 10 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 5, 3, 7, 2, 1, 6, 3) + 10 = 51
Cure Light Wounds x5: 5d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 2, 8) + 5 = 24
Cure Light Wounds x2: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (8, 3) + 2 = 13
GM Batpony |
Bishop, though it didn't matter, your second roll onwards should have taken a -2 due to con dmg.
Rathen Wyrmblight |
"Let's get this gold back. Stuff your bags full if need be. I don't want to be here any longer."
Bishop Shepherd |
Right! The joys of Fort saves for CON damage.
"Dove, please, can you help Timber? I find no shame in saying that his life matters more to me than that of most men."
GM Batpony |
You stowed away all the gold to carry with you on your return to the Venture Captain. With the objective completed and time of the very essences, you immediately make your move to return back to Heidmarch manor following the same path set for you. You are careful to avoid any attention on your return, and make benefit of the darkness in the night to avoid wandering eyes. Upon your return, you find some time to rest in the comfortable lodgings provided to you and make any preparations for the auction that is to be held the following day.
In the early hours of the morning, rumours circulate around the streets of a raid on one the caravan’s travelling to the auction. While no one can say with certainty who had done the deed, the Pathfinder Society’s name is thrown into the mix of possible suspects.
You may rest and make any preparations as appropriate.
Timber -4CON -30
Bishop Shepherd |
The Dove says it's okay On the way back, with rest and a spell from The Dove, Timber feels.... mostly better. Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Valrar Altimari II |
Valrar tries his best to haphazardly mend his five o'clock shadow and dons a bejeweled nobles' outfit with distaste. Despite his misgivings, he knows well enough to not look incriminating in such situations.
Rathen Wyrmblight |
Is it possible pick up a consumable or two? If so, Rathen will buy a potion of darkvision and a potion of neutralize poison.
Daxter Bateman |
After the rest, Daxter will recast his daily spells. Mage Armor, False Life on himself, and split Life Bubble between himself and the Dove.
False Life: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
GM Batpony |
Is it possible pick up a consumable or two? If so, Rathen will buy a potion of darkvision and a potion of neutralize poison.
As we are in the dead of the night, it won't be feasible for shopping currently.

***OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT***
Two hours before the auction is slated to begin, Sheila Heidmarch calls everyone back to the theater for another emergency briefing. She appears greatly agitated and her tenor is one of immediacy.
“My friends, we have little time and much work to do, so I’m going to make this simple. While you were dealing with the Aspis Consortium, my informants in the city investigated the individuals you reported on from last night’s gala. It seems a number of them have sufficient funds to jeopardize our efforts. In what little time remains, I need you to prevent as many of them from participating in the auction as possible. My agents will provide each of your groups with a mission brief. Once you complete the task, return here to inform us of the results, and we shall quickly set you upon another mission. Again, we need you to complete as many missions as you can before the auction starts. But remember to keep your efforts clandestine and try not to kill anyone important. We’re still trying to win the auction somewhat legally.”
GM Batpony |
She looks at your lost faces and rolls her eyes,"Our agents have been keeping a keen eye on the big players, and they're all possible threats to our efforts here, so missions are plentiful, do you have anyone in mind? Perhaps we could start there." Her agents bring along a handful of case files each with a name, Mariveer Sloan's name falls on top of the list.
You may suggest one of the people from the ledger, if no consensus by 24 hours, I will follow majority rules, or randomly assign your task.
Rathen Wyrmblight |
"Does Kresch Vaor or Underbridge Exports factor into any of them? If so, I would like to start with them."
Valrar Altimari II |
"Don't know much about those two," Valrar muses. "But Maiveer Sloan definitely has the coin, plus a bias against us. We're almost all VCs, we'd handle him best, even if it doesn't come to a fight."
GM Batpony |
Heidmarch rolls her eyes once more and randomly picks up a case file.
?: 1d4 ⇒ 4 The name on the file reads, 'Duchesses'. “Well, one of you is in luck." She speaks as she flips through the notes.
"There were two women at the pre-auction who paid their deposit in Minkaian coins which, according to our sources, may have been stolen during a recent caravan raid. If such is the case, the duo no doubt have dubious intentions. The women call themselves the Duchesses and they likely have ties to one of Magnimar’s criminal organizations; I suspect the Rushlight Society. Still, it is their finances and not their intentions that most concern us. Some of our more reliable street contacts informed me that the two women were last seen entering the home of a local merchant named Windun Landers. Perhaps not so coincidentally, Landers has a wrought iron rushlight mounted on his door casing. Head to the man’s residence, and see if you can’t figure out how much money these “Duchesses” have. If all is as I suspect, they don’t have enough to bid competitively. I’m also near certain they’re using stolen funds, so leave whatever gold you find. I don’t want us bidding with illegally gotten coin—that’ll create more problems for us than it will solve. Lastly, whatever you happen to find, do not involve
the authorities. I cannot risk the courts subpoenaing your testimony during the auction.” She speaks extremely sternly towards the end, as if to make her point clear.
The address of Windun Lander's Manse is provided to you, and soon you head in that direction. It is a beautiful place, well built, and neatly kept. The double doors of the Manse stands right before you. There are many windows alongside the south and east side of the establishment that looks in to the hallways and the common rooms.
Bishop Shepherd |
Bishop eyes the building, trying to catch anyone watching the party. With time of the essence, he knocks on the door and then steps back for someone else to talk. Perception: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31 (+6 if human)
Ursus the Breaker |
”You know, I was really hoping a missing involving the ‘Duchessess’ was going to go in a different direction”, the huge seeker explains with a smirk.
Trusting the stealthier members of the party to scout the scene, Ursus maintains his distance and looks for signs of hidden guards.
Perception: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (12) + 27 = 39
Rathen Wyrmblight |
Once more in his element, Rathen sneaks around the building, looking for guards, points of entry, and other security concerns for a gang that might need to make a fast exit.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26
Perception: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (19) + 30 = 49 +5 vs traps
He then hustles to the door when Bishop knocks, a flash of irritation crossing his face at the lack of a plan.
GM Batpony |
For a large building, it seems to be relatively empty when it comes to occupants viewing it from the outside. The establishment is out in the open, and only has one point of entry, which is the front door. As far as you can tell, there are no guards or shady looking characters within the vicinity of the housing estate.
The knock attracts, presumably, the house owner, as you hear fleeting footsteps scurry to the entrance. The doors open, and you are met by a bald, elder human gentlemen. He greets you politely, although is taken back by the group's composition. "Good day? I don't think you're my morning newspaper."
GM Batpony |
"I am he, but I don't know who these women are." He replies sternly.
Bishop Shepherd |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 6 = 25 "Are you sure? The bead of sweat on your brow says otherwise. Look, everyone here wants to do this the easy way."
GM Batpony |
"Are you accusing me of lying!" The man clams up, and looks to remove himself from the conversation. "I have nothing to do with you!"
The next thing you say should have a diplomacy or intimidate check
Bishop Shepherd |
Bishop looks at the others, he's no diplomat, and he's not one for words in general.
