GM alientude |

Welcome! I'm looking forward to this campaign quite a bit. Let's take role call, and we'll get down to the nuts and bolts. We'll need to start off by each person ensuring their character build is fully fleshed out in their profile.
This is also a good time to talk amongst yourselves. While none of you have to know each other, Cauldron isn't a metropolis, so there's a good chance some of you are acquaintances, if not friends. Feel free to expand on this. It can only help the campaign.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask away.

GM alientude |

For those of you who have already posted stat blocks, I'm going to start going over them.
Diurn Selestro is up first. A few things after a quick perusal:
1) I don't see your alignment in your stat block.
2) Could you clean up your skill listing so I can more easily see a) ranks; and b) the total?
3) You are not proficient with a longsword.
4) Please include the cost of each item you bought, along with your remaining gold.
5) Don't forget that you'll need a holy symobl to cast and channel.
6) You list a shield bonus in your AC, but don't have one in your gear.
7) Your background still refers to a bastard sword, but it looks like you've decided to go with a longsword instead. Could you clear that up?
8) What does Diurn do on an average day? Where in Cauldron does he live? Any hobbies or notable friends?

GM alientude |

Valamont Caine:
1) Please remove the drawback listed under the Touched in the Head trait. This is supposed to be a secret drawback.
2) A magus starts with 3 + Int mod 1st level spells known. You are shorting yourself 2 spells.
3) What does Valamont do on an average day? Where in Cauldron does he live? Any hobbies or notable friends?

Dreygard Splintershield |

Dreygard here. I am having trouble getting my avatar image updated but I'll have the mechanics in better order some time tonight or tomorrow. And thanks for choosing me.

Dreygard Splintershield |

Dreygard, if you hover over the image, it should come up with a little window about where the image came from, and the link Select This Avatar. or something like that.
Well I be smurfed, thanks for that. I was just clicking on it like before. I haven't made a new profile in a while.

GM alientude |

Sir Adolphus Ministhrien:
1) I'm assuming you took the Nobility Campaign trait, since you have too much gear for the standard starting wealth. Can you please list that in the traits section?
2) Please indicate which language you speak besides Common (you have one extra from the +1 Int mod).
3) Please include the cost of each item you bought.
4) Same as above - what does Adolphus do on an average day? Where in Cauldron does he live? Any hobbies or notable friends?

Valamont Caine |

Thanks for selecting Valamont! Looking forward to this AP, as I've only heard good things about it.
1) - removed drawback from character profile
2) - added 2 spells! thanks for catching that =)
Besides Halpeen, he has lots of friend in the town guard and militia, but the overwhelming majority are more the fair-weather kind. Most find his mannerisms and his frequent one-sided conversations with his deceased mother to be jarringly strange, and as such he is often ridiculed behind his back, though Valamont remains mostly unaware of this.
He also has something akin to a celebrity crush on the Lady Ophelia Knowlern, having been quite taken with her level headed and reasonable approach to Council issues from the one time he was mistakenly assigned guard duty for a council meeting.
He currently resides in a simple 1 room tenement apartment between Lava and Ash avenues. Not being one for material vices or comforts, he has saved most of his wages from serving in the guard, except of course for what he sets aside for coffee.

Luc Theriot |

GM: Here is the number crunch. I modified the archetype from mysterious stranger to pistolero, since I was planning on only using pistols anyway and I changed the name. He was born Lucas Therian but he is now known as Luc Theriot. Let me know of any changes.

GM alientude |

As for extra languages, what other language would a noble be likely to speak?
Any language that would help with dealing with plantation workers might be useful, or any other racial language. So maybe one of these:
Halfling
Elven
Dwarven
Gnome
Orc
Undercommon
Also, could you include your background in your profile?

Luc Theriot |

Luc Theriot:
1) Your backpack is on your donkey?
2) Your turn - what does Luc do on an average day? Where in Cauldron does he live? Any hobbies or notable friends?
This was his inventory when on the road. Yeah, he's got 10 Str only and it's more of a pack mule. On his person he carries, his gun, rapier, bandolier with bullets, gun powder horns, a sun rod and his gun kit. All the essential camping stuff, such as bedroll, backpack, waterskin, etc are on his mule.
I'll work on the social contacts.

GM alientude |

Dreygard Splintershield:
Before I go over your statblock, I'm a little confused. You first said you were thinking of an Urban Ranger, but then posted that you switched it to a Rogue. Now your profile shows an Urban Ranger. I'm fine with either of them, but please let me know which it will be.

I'm building him directly onto his profile. The rogue thing is because I copied the format from a NPC from a campaign I'm running to use as a template....doh....I think I got something messed up. A little distracted today. It will definitely be fixed tomorrow, I think I started building from my original plan but my rogue plan is on a different file.
OK on it. Changes should start appearing w/in 5 min. I didn't take the dog for a walk today and now I'm in the doghouse.

Dreygard Splintershield |

Thanks there, Dolph.
My build is slowly getting worked on. There are math inconsistencies and things are changing as my build matures.

Diurn Selestro |

No, Diurn is a mama boy and lives with his mom in cauldron. She was a celebrated paladin in her day and is quite alive. I do like the family connection with us being cousins. Diurn is living at home and has 'failed to launch'--this adventure is what he needs to go out on his own. Diurn actually goes to the temples and libraries and studies on a typical day. He also practices his sword with his mother in the afternoon and has yet to win.
He did grow up without a father figure.
Diurn's character sheet is shaping up, will soon do the accounting soon to the cp and exact pound.
Alignment on sheet
longsword listed as bonus proficiency for class abilities
Metal large shield added and silver holy symbol added
Ranks in []s on char sheet and final totals added to char sheet.
Removed bastard sword as +1 BAB required for feat. Went with longsword instead. Reference removed in background.

GM alientude |

Dorian: It's fine for you to have just arrived in Cauldron.
Valamont: Could you put your background into your profile? Thanks.
Your Mother, Marta, passed away a few months ago by natural causes. Since then, Davked has withered away. He's lost a lot of weight and seemed to age several decades. His attitude has changed, becoming more aloof. Despite your best efforts, you haven't been able to coax anything from him.
Malachite Fortress: The Malachite Fortress was constructed by gnomes and dwarves to guard Jzadirune and, by extension, Cauldron, from the dangers of the Underdark. Zenith Splintershield was its commander, and he took the fortress's best fighters with him when he launched his attack. Most of the dwarves living in the fortress left for Cauldron, leaving only a small number of guards.

Darthal Blackaxe |

Darthal Blackaxe is dressed in solid black, with old-fashioned dwarven lizard-leather boots and a stone holy symbol (Torag's axe chipped in obsidian) around his neck. Most dwarves use metal holy symbols, and have for the last three millennia or so. His thick black beard is curled in a stiff style, though its antiquity is only obvious if you know the history of dwarven hairdressing. His eyes are also black, though they're a bit hard to see through all the blinking. He seems un-used to the sunlight and takes every opportunity to find shadows to avoid it, including spending a good chunk of the noon hour indoors. The only thing that prevents him from being hauled off to Cauldron's museum and placed in the exhibition of Paleolithic Dwarven Culture is the cheerful purple scarf around his neck embroidered with "I went to Cauldron and could only afford this scarf" in elven runes. (Darthal can't read the runes, he just thinks they look pretty, and so far nobody has dared to tell him what they mean.) He can often be seen running around Obsidian Avenue in the heights doing errands for Clan Blackaxe's ambassador, or in the Westkey Map Emporium trying to find old maps showing Clan Blackaxe's claim (no luck so far.) In the evenings he dips down to various taverns, usually not hitting the same one twice, and finding interesting things to do with coffee.
It rather looks like Darthal and Dreygard are going to be on opposite sides of some major issues here... I see them spending a lot of time in taverns arguing the respective claims of their clans. Not sure if it's developed into violence yet - Darthal has a high regard for anyone who knows the old glories of Dwarven clans and history and might choose to debate those rather than obsidian mining, for a good enough conversation partner. Besides, he could use a local guide to Cauldron.
Might have met Sir Adolphus in the course of diplomatic negotiations with the Clan Blackaxe embassy -- the two assistants/flunkies/whatever hanging out in the kitchen while their seniors do the negotiations. Might Sir Adolphus know of any interesting coffee-houses? Or have any interest in religious art, particularly stained glass or stonework? (Darthal just loves stained glass and sometimes spends several hours staring at it inside one or another temple.)
I suppose the interest in religious art might be a possible common interest with Diurn as well.
Running into Luc or Valamont while tavern-hopping sounds possible.
(yes, yes, cliche "you met in a bar", but it works).

Darthal Blackaxe |

Darthal is sort of "underground bumpkin new to the city" in some ways, rather unfamiliar with a lot of stuff, but he's been here long enough to have the edge worn off a little bit.
I intend to play him primarily as a support character -- cave druids work better underground, and don't get wildshape till 6th level, so Natural Spell not until 7th level. Spells mostly buffing and battlefield control. Skills will mostly be the basic Perception, Spellcraft, and druidic knowledge skills (nature, religion, and in his case dungeoneering) with an occasional point in something else to reflect things he knows how to do.
Feat plans (very tentative)
1 - spell focus (conjuration)
3 - augment summoning
5 - extend spell, or perhaps superior summons (see how summons works online)
7 - natural spell
9 - lightning reflexes (boost weakest save)
11 - some useful metamagic feat
13 - quicken spell

GM alientude |

Adolphus: A valet will cost you 2 suns (gp) per week for his services Monday through Saturday. A squire is a little trickier, because a squire is not intended to be a servant; rather, he's effectively apprenticed to you. I'll say he'll cost you 13 suns (gp) per month to cover his cost of living and training. Your squire would be young and have very little experience fighting. Basically, neither of these hirelings are any worth in combat whatsoever.
Luc: The cost of renting varies wildly depending on the neighborhood. The closer you are to the lake in Cauldron, the cheaper the rent and the worse the neighborhood. The cheapest place available would be a run-down studio apartment between Ash Avenue and the lake, which would be 2 moons (sp) a month. It would range from there to the best of the best, a townhouse between Obsidian Avenue and the rim of Cauldron, which would set you back 300 suns (gp) a month. Let me know the type of accommodations you're looking for, and we'll figure it out from there.

GM alientude |

Luc: Independent security-for-hire sounds appropriate for you. You could easily have met Valamont during a contract with the town guard, and are a semi-regular guard at Alameda Moneylenders. They are paranoid about security, and rotate their guards often - no guard is ever hired for longer than two weeks at a time, with a minimum of two months in between hires.
Note that opening an account with Alameda Moneylenders requires a 10 sun (gp) fee, and the monthly account fee is 5 suns. The 10 sun fee would have to be deducted from your starting gold.
Dreygard:
1) Non-masterwork thieves' tools cost 30 gold. Masterwork thieves' tools cost 100 gold. Correcting this would bring your Disable Device total to +7.
2) A cold iron dagger costs 4 gold, not 2.
3) I don't see any armor listed. I'm guessing Studded Leather, since you have a +3 armor bonus listed in your AC.
4) I show you have ~120 gold left. Since the difference is exactly the difference between thieves' tools and masterwork thieves' tools, perhaps you did spend the correct amount on the masterwork variety but listed the cost of the normal ones?
5) How are you getting a +3 Fort save? I see +0 base, +2 Con.
6) You either have one too many hit points or one too many skill ranks (where did you put your favored class bonus?).
7) Same as everybody else - What does Dreygard do on an average day? Where in Cauldron does he live? Any hobbies or notable friends?

Luc Theriot |

GM: I'm looking for an apartment in the neighborhood of 10 gp per month. The independent security sounds great and I already discounted the first month deposit for 10 gp for the bank account in the equipment section of my profile.

Dreygard Splintershield |

7) Same as everybody else - What does Dreygard do on an average day? Where in Cauldron does he live? Any hobbies or notable friends?
1, 3 & 4) Yep. I original purchased MW studded but then realized I couldn't even afford thieves tools, so I bought some and undid the studded. Then I turned the thieves tools into MW so I should still have the +9 mod.
2) thanks for seeing that.mit was originally a short spear then I changed it. I'll update the math on thatafter my cat gets off my lap. Hard to make fine changes on an iPad with a cat trying to play too.5 &6)I lowed Int and raised my Con to 16? F.c. Went into skills.
7) I'll try to get that up ASAP. Got a home game tonight.
Don't worry about my grammatical errors. I'll be doing most of my in game posts on the desktop with no strange autocorrections.

GM alientude |

I've uploaded a player's map of Cauldron available here. This is a pretty hefty image (around 4 mb), so it'd probably be better to download it once for reference rather than opening it each time you want to view it.

GM alientude |

Regarding homes:
Luc - I have you renting an apartment between Lava and Ash avenue, on the eastern side of the city.
Adolphus - I presume you live at Vanderboren Manor.
Darthal - The Blackaxe trading house, adjacent to Westkey's Map Emporium
Dorian - Drunken Morkoth Inn. The price for a place in the common room is 5 moons (sp) per day, or a discounted 3 suns (gp) for a week's stay. A small room would instead be 2 suns (gp) per day, or 12 suns for a week's stay.
Diurn, Dreygard, and Valamont - Need an idea of your housing accomodations.
I'll be updating the player's map with notes on these locations once we've got it all settled.

Sir Adolphus Ministhrien |

Darthal, While Adolphus is not religious, per se, his mother was a Paladin of Iomedae, and he learned some of religious art from her. He does enjoy stained glass windows, but not in religious context, just in political ones.
There might be a coffee house or two in the Noble District where diplomatic attache's frequent. And its entirely possible we could be acquainted.
As for Vanderboren Manor, yeah, unless they're kicking me out. There's no law that says they have to take me in, its just the chivalrous thing to do.
