William Dienow |
William is going to float down to the end of the hall and back checking for any signs of traps.

Zoren Valkith |
"Perhaps this pattern and the gargoyle are related?"
DM, do the spheres in the paintings seem to be the same size as those that would fit in the hands of the gargoyle?
Zoren turns to William, "Many doors to choose from it seems. Shall we investigate each one in turn together Alex? I think it prudent that we each investigate in case one or the other misses some crucial detail we would otherwise have captured.
Alexander Valen |
Alex rolls his head side to side, causing loud popping sounds.
Considering we've been walking around a bit without incident. Still, better safe than sorry.
perception: 1d20 + 1d8 + 22 ⇒ (8) + (8) + 22 = 38 (42 to find traps).
Zoren Valkith |
Zoren will cast reduce person and move through the tunnel. Once at the end of the tunnel, Zoren will "take 10" (24) to search for traps.
If it seems safe, he will command his unseen servant to open that door so that he may access the hallway that William described to him.
If it does not seem safe he will head back and inform the others of what he found.
Zoren Valkith |
A shrunken Zoren heads back to the "statue room", "The way is open, I am about to head through".
He heads through that trap door and into the hallway.
Do I see the new PC's?
DMTFY |
Zoren: Yes you do indeed see our 2 new players.
For simplicity's sake they were part of another group that sought to defeat the tomb and it's guardians. However after a difficult battle all were killed except these two. Their close call with death has unfortunately wiped their minds of all their previous experiences in here
Zoren Valkith |
Zoren ends his reduce person spell and attains his true size.
He draws his blade, "I did not expect to find other living beings in here. Did you come here from Prison?"
Izura Selenesh |
Izura wanders around the corner into the room with the others, and stares wide-eyes. Ovvash? Dew'sh ovvash? How'sh dew ovvash? Between the garbled speech, the dusky skin and unkempt hair, and the mouthful of inch long, wicked sharp fangs, she makes a somewhat startling sight.
Zoren Valkith |
Zoren turns to William and chuckles, "What if they are minions of the Lich? Should we let them join with us so easily without at lest an explanation as to what they are doing here?"
As I await his response, my eyes flitter to the walls and the floors, what do I see?
Perception 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 Specifically I am looking for colors or symbols that may tie to the Lich's riddle.
Zoren Valkith |
"Well it depends on what they say..."
Zoren Valkith |
Zoren laughs in response, "So you are a shrewd judge of character then Ali. How come you to find yourself here?"
Geri and Freki |
Geri shakes his head at the rather odd introduction from both sides. "Now now, let's not assume ill of others we meet in a tomb...wait maybe there is some reason to but still. We were part of a group of others braving this tomb but...there was a mishap and we are what's left. I think it must've been one doozy of a trap as we were attempting to try and retrace our steps out but couldn't remember the way. I recall talking about gathering more to brave the tomb again." he offered the group as he pulled a bit of meat out of his pack to feed Freki.
Zoren Valkith |
"Have you no memory of how you came to be here?"
Geri and Freki |
Geri answers as he rubs his temples "It is murky at best, I could not give any clear answers I am afraid to if we had passed here or there" he said as even struggling to remember anything gave him quite the headache.
Alexander Valen |
Valen walks by, giving naught but a glance to the new comers, still staring at the walls and floors.
Hm, yes, if they were servants of the lich, they would be dead, or, undead, as it were. Also giving the fact they haven't attacked us it seems logical to conclude they are remnants of a former group sent by our good jailer. In other words, I believe his story holds up well. As for traps, I wouldn't worry much. If the trap can be disabled, you'll find none better than I. After thoroughly searching the room he will make his way back to the two newcomers and offer a handshake to Geri.
Geri and Freki |
Geri gave Freki a look to see how he felt about the others and given his relaxed demeanor he smiled and shook hands with the man who offered. "Forgive me, I don't believe I've caught anyone's names..." he said.
Izura Selenesh |
The half-elf woman stares intently at the newcomers as they speak, then grabs a small slate hanging around her neck and makes some gestures at it, showing it to you after a couple of moments. It appears that words have made themselves appear on its surface in a chaotic, loose hand. She repeats the process every several seconds, and words appear a sentence at a time.
I am Izura Selenesh. We come from Prison #14. | My communication is...strange, I know. I do not hear. | Between the silence and my...change... And here her mouth twists into a terrifying grin, a mouthful of inch-long fangs readily apparent. I read lips to understand. I can speak, but barely. | The slate is easier to understand than my voice.
Zoren Valkith |
"Zoren. Tell me, did you both just wake to find yourselves in this hall?"
Can we get a brief description of the inscriptions ion the wall DN? I think one might have been in a PM but I cannot locate it for some reason.
DMTFY |
Zoren: I assume you are talking about those symbols and hieroglyph looking things between the "Beastman" figures interacting with the orbs of various colors. For game purposes they are indecipherable, most likely from some long lost civilization.
The symbols are meaningless jibber-jabber
DMTFY |
Here is a reminder as to where we all are.
Alex, Zoren, izura and William made their way through the arch and found themselves in a room with a statue of a mutated gargoyle. Upon searching the room they discovered a crawlway that led to the hall you are in now, you have also found two survivors from a previous party of adventurers. That would be Ali and Geri, they have no recollection of their last fight nor of any parts of the Tomb that has not been explored yet.
William has done a cursory pass up and down the "Hall of Colored Orbs"and discoverd a secret door(located on the map at 2E), behind the door was a 10'x 10' room devoid of any furnishings. He discovered another secret door along the east wall. He also was hit with a single magic missile while in the room. It apparently emanated from the eastern wall itself.
Zoren Valkith |
"Well then it seems William was right after all. Let us move on. This place it seems swallowed up one of our companions as well!"
Zoren will cast Shield to protect himself from any further magic missile traps and the begin inspecting the part of the wall in the small room that triggered the magic missile defense to seek to deactivate it.
Perception Take 10 - 24
Should he be able to decipher how the trap functions, he will seek to Disable the Device.
Disable Device 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
DMTFY |
Zoren: Upon entering the 10'x 10' bare room, you are hit by an mm which is ineffective due to your shield spell. You then search to disable a trap and determine that the trap is impossible to disarm. You also determine that a mm fires at you quite frequently
A missile will fire once per rd.
Zoren Valkith |
Zoren will search for another way through this room before abandoning it completely.
Perception Take "10" - 24
"Let me just check once more to ensure this is really just a dead end trap. I will know in a second Ali".
If it is just a dead end trap, Zoren will head to the door at the far end that William identified and search it for traps.
Perception Take "10" - 24
Once the task is complete, Zoren will turn to William, "Double check my work will you? We don't want to make any mistakes down here, I value my life more than my ego".
William Dienow |
After Hearing Zoren, William will cast Shield on himself and head back into the room with Zoren. William will then immediatly start looking for traps.
perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
DMTFY |
Zoren/William: There is indeed a secret door on the eastern wall it has no traps but does not open like a standard door, after fiddling around with it you discover that the door slides left into the wall(Like a Pocket Door).
[ooc]This has no bearing on you as you have shield up, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it is designed to delay you so whomever is in the room is taking an MM each rd.
Beyond the door is a 10' wide x 20' long room. This room is bare of decor as well.
MAP Updated
Izura Selenesh |
Izura peeks into the room that Zoren and William are in. Ish id shafe da cobe id? (Is it safe to come in?)
Zoren Valkith |
"Not yet Izura, let us check the far room first. Then one of us will stand here to absorb the missiles while the rest pass through".
Geri and Freki |
Geri watches how the group operates with a bit of curiosity. They did at least certainly seem to have their group together as far as how they took care of themselves in this tomb.
