Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin turns back to face Coglen, before reaching down and placing a hand on the flat of his axe. A fire red rune appears on his forehead, similar to the last but muted, less vibrant. Runes spread from his forehead, gathering a pale golden tinge and mixing as they course down his arm, swimming just above the skin, before melding with his hand and fusing with the blade. When he pulled away his hand, light sprang in to being around the axe head.

"There ye go lad, that do be better I reckon!"

Cast Light on Dorins axe.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

That was a casting of light on Coglen's sword I take it?

HP 14/20 Human Alchemist (Vivisectionist) // Magus (Bladebound, Kensai) 1

on Dorin's sword, i hope

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Damn it, I forgot to OOC it at the end. Yep, it was! I can change it to my axe but I wasn't sure if you had light yourself.

HP 14/20 Human Alchemist (Vivisectionist) // Magus (Bladebound, Kensai) 1

being a sneaky sort, i'd like to be able to hide in the shadow if i need it, whereas the dwarf in scale mail is already not hiding anytime soon. worst case, cast it on a pebble i can pocket if i need to. and thanks for the light.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Doh! Of course. Nah it is cool, I'll cast it on the axe and walk ahead of you, you can skirt the edge and attack things that pop in to being by its glow!

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

"So, should we head east? Going away from those goblins at the main door sounds like a good idea; I don't want to fight them if we can help it."

Male Half-Elf Bonded Witch/Trap-Breaker Alchemist 01

Petros frowned at Kaley and thumbed his ring, only just managing to stop his voice from shaking as he spoke.

"I am of the opinion we take down those goblins and any friends they may have now. The next time we see them, we might be too busy keeping our innards inside us to take them on. They pose a threat now and in the future; I am of the opinion we change that now"

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin puts his head down and forged ahead, sliding past Petros to move in behind Kaley, holding his axe aloft.

"Aye, we should take threats as they come, not keep them for later. But we should nay seek them out. We do nay be as powerful as that!"

HP 14/20 Human Alchemist (Vivisectionist) // Magus (Bladebound, Kensai) 1

sounds like Coglen, Dorin and Kayley against fighting the gobbos, and Petros and Qot for fighting them? Is that correct, or am i mistaken?

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Aye I vote we slip around the ones at the entrance anyway.

Female Miraluka | May the Force be with you. | DEX 4D KNO 2D MEC 2D PER 5D STR 3D TEC 2D | CON 3D SEN 3D ALT 2D | Experience 5

Nope, I said to go to the secret door and skip the goblins.

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

Tired of waiting for her companions to make a decision, Kaley walks forward to the door on her right and tries the knob.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin frowns at the door, just to the left of them as they exit the secret passage, and keeps and eye on it as he follows Kaley, to back her up. "I do be here lass. If you be needing help that is!"

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

Opening the door, Kaley and Dorin find that a plush, human-sized bed stands in this chamber, along with a table holding a bone scroll tube and jars filled with eyeballs, claws and teeth. Various parts that look to have come from an automaton of some sort lie scattered around.

Spellcraft/Linguistics DC 15:
The scroll is inscribed with a mark similar in nature to an Arcane Mark, shaped in the form of the Azlanti rune for "six".

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin moves in to the room and glances around at the scattered bits of metal work for a moment, before moving to the table and picking up the scroll.

Spellcraft-1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

"Six?" He frowns, turning the scroll over in his hands, before focusing his mind and casting a quick spell. Runes formed around his hand, a pale silver in color, the symbols for Identification, Seeking and Understanding.

Cast Detect Magic

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

The scroll appears to not carry any innate magic within it, rather it might be a reminder or a note for use on some other magical contraption within the ruins.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin shrugs, before pocketing the scroll and turning his palm to the rest of the room, searching out any magic energy in the immediate area.

HP 14/20 Human Alchemist (Vivisectionist) // Magus (Bladebound, Kensai) 1

Coglen will stay in place, alert for signs of danger.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

Sweeping his spell across the room, Dorin finds no other sources of magic within the bedchamber or the partially collapsed hall.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

If the pieces are small enough, I'll collect the pieces of the automaton before giving the room one final once over, and leaving.

Perception-1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

You find nothing else in the room.

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

Kaley examines the jars. "That's rather horrific," she comments, pocketing one nonchalantly.

She stops short when she sees the bed. "Seems a bit too big for a goblin, don't you think? And a bit too...habitable."

Is the table human height as well? What about the secret door?

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin looked around the room before nodding. "Aye, it all do be a bit strange don't it? Maybe there do be a more... intelligent creature controlling the Goblins? It do not be unheard of?" He shrugged before stepping back out in to the hallway and turning to Kaley. "What do ya reckon lass? Which door do we be opening next? I'd rather no stand around in that creepy room."

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

Kaley crosses to the northern door.
"How about this one?"

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

"Aye. Sounds good. I wonder why the rest do be standing outside. Seems strange when all of the exploring do be happening in here..."

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

"Yeah, I guess. But I appreciate the knowledge that we can still run away if we need to. We can go get them before we go in too far."

Kaley opens the door.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

The table is a bit more appropriate in height for what you imagine a goblin might need.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

"Aye I suppose. Heh. I just hope we dinnae get jumped by something before that!"

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

Opening the door, you find a what appears to be a good-sized kitchen, complete with decaying tables, cupboards and bins. One table has what looks like a child's laboratory, with broken cups for beakers. Before the makeshift lab stands a goblin in leather armor, a hulking behemoth of an emeraldine statue with a human arm bolted to one shoulder leaning over him.

The goblin looks to the door, and starts jabbering something to the automaton.

Goblin Speech:
"Sweet Mother of Madness! Look at how smooth and blemish-free that longshank's skin is! It's positively repulsive! Clanky, bisect her so that I may proceed to sew giant cockroach legs onto each half! That will be pleasing to Lamashtu, yes!"

With the Goblin reaching for a falchion, the automaton lurches toward you.

Goblin's Turn

The goblin draws his falchion and holds it aloft, jabbering on as he waves a hand about, stepping away from the breaching point of the room.

Spellcraft DC 16:
He has cast Bless.

It is now Dorin's Turn.

To all players, remember that it is difficult terrain inside the spire due to rubble, and that it is also dark. Difficult terrain will reduce speed by half, while trying to move through darkness will also reduce speed by half unless you attempt a DC 10 Acrobatics check that if failed, causes your character to fall prone.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Do those with Darkvision suffer the second effect?

Spellcraft-1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

"Blessing from your God is it Gobbo? Nay... not today lad!"

He turned to focus on the automaton and smiled. 'Aye a beautiful piece of machinery but too bad it do be on the opposite side!' He reached down and lay a palm flat on the head of his axe, closing his eyes and saying a small prayer to Torag. When he removed his hand, the head of his axe began to glow a faint metallic red.

Cast Artifice Blessing. Ignore DR and Hardness while attack Constructs. Move up behind Kaley

I'm looking at the map but I'm a little confuse - can we assume the group is all together? If not, how far am I from Dorin and Kaley?

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Qot you are 15 foot from the entrance to the secret tunnel. Then you are 50 foot from Kaley, through rough terrain, so actually like 100 feet as you move at half speed.

You had two days before the group found an encounter to express your confusion, or to simply say something to the effect of "I follow Dorin and Kaley closely." You are where you are, and Dorin's summation of your positioning relative to Kaley is completely accurate.

Female Miraluka | May the Force be with you. | DEX 4D KNO 2D MEC 2D PER 5D STR 3D TEC 2D | CON 3D SEN 3D ALT 2D | Experience 5

Qot double moves towards the battle sounds.

Male Half-Elf Bonded Witch/Trap-Breaker Alchemist 01

Petros followed behind Qot, struggling with the temptation to simply leave the battle to the others. "I swear if I see ONE Jadwiga.."he muttered as he stumbled along behind.

Petros double moves, following behind Qot

HP 14/20 Human Alchemist (Vivisectionist) // Magus (Bladebound, Kensai) 1

Coglen moves up slowly, ending up in the back of the crowd in the hall.

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

Kaley moves past Dorin and draws her sword, frustrated by her lack of preparation and by her slow pace along the uneven ground. She takes advantage of the automaton's slow reactions to lash out with her blade, not toward its unyielding mechanical body, but toward the shoulder of its precariously attached human arm.
Using power attack and sneak attack against the automaton's flat-footed AC.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) + 9 = 22

With little effort, Kaley is able to cleave off the automaton's lone fleshy component, leaving it at what appears to be a severe disadvantage, electricity begins to arc from its severed arm, while smoke erupts from its back.

The automaton then reaches out with an emeraldine fist, attempting to smash it into Kaley's chest.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

The fist flails wildly, not even coming into Contact with Kaley. In the wild erratic movements, he moves to interpose himself between his goblin master and her however.

Five foot step.

From behind the automaton the goblin points to Kaley, his eyes glowing menacingly.

Spellcraft DC 16:
The goblin has cast Cause Fear.

Kaley Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 14

An icy terror grips Kaley's heart, a cloying grip on her inner being that would send ordinary mortals screaming and running for the hills. But Kaley is a paladin, and paladins are not ordinary mortals!

Kaley resisted the spell.

With the spell seemingly have failed, the goblin gives out a short "Eep!" of terror of his own, opens the door behind him, and scuttles inside while yelling something in goblin.

Goblin Speech:
A longshank and a dwarf have broken in! You, go raise the alarm! You, get into my lab and kill them!

Initiatives: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

From within the room, whoever resides within is quick to spur to action. Squeezing past the first goblin, another, this one scrawnier and less scarred, but wielding a short sword enters the fray, brandishing his blade.

For a brief moment, Kaley sees another goblin in the room beyond dart by, but he flits out of sight, and soon more goblin yelling can be heard.

Goblin Speech:
"Longshanks! In the lab! Go help Skizzertz!"

Initiatives: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 221d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

It is now Dorin's turn.

Male Dwarf Fighter / Warpriest of Torag Level 1

Dorin took a step in to the room, glaring at the influx of Goblins, gripping his axe tightly. Staring at the construct with a professional eye, he swings his axe with all his might at a likely looking weak point.

Power Attack-1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Confirm-1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 52d10 + 10 ⇒ (10, 1) + 10 = 21

Lame...Anyway, my attack ignores all DR and Hardness.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

With great fury, and all the might of his ancestors behind the swing, Dorin cleaves off a hunk of emerald from the automatons center of mass, but the automaton still stands after the blow.

It's now Petros' turn. Remember that you are both in difficult terrain, and without a light source.

Male Half-Elf Bonded Witch/Trap-Breaker Alchemist 01

Petros stopped for a moment, rummaging through his backpack blindly. When finally he found what he was looking for, Petros lifted the sunrod from the depths of his bag and struck it against his thigh. The sunrod blazed into light and Petros whispered

"In hindsight, we really should have done that BEFORE we entered"

Petros takes a move action to take out a sunrod and then spends a standard action to strike it into light, providing light for Qot, Coglen and himself.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

A 5 foot radius around Petros (so 9 squares in total) is lit before the magics of this level consume the remaining light just beyond where Qot and Coglen stand respectively. It is now Qot's turn. The yellow outlines represent where there are normal levels of light.

Female Miraluka | May the Force be with you. | DEX 4D KNO 2D MEC 2D PER 5D STR 3D TEC 2D | CON 3D SEN 3D ALT 2D | Experience 5

I have Darkvision... Can I see?

Qot double-moves to the doorway, preparing his bow to shoot when he has a chance.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

Yes, Qot is able to see.

Of note, it is now Coglen's turn.

HP 14/20 Human Alchemist (Vivisectionist) // Magus (Bladebound, Kensai) 1

Double move at half speed, and done.

Grand Lodge

Emerald Spire Map Link Level 1 GM

Kaley's turn.

Female Aasimar (Angelkin) Alchemist (Beastmorph, Vivisectionist) // Paladin (Temple Champion) 2

Kaley shifts along the wall, past the automaton, before swinging her sword toward it once more.
Taking a 5-foot step, then attacking with power attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 5) + 9 = 17
