Moria shifts over defending herself both blades in hand ready to provide a flank. Dyrm lobs another bolt of fire at the wooden golem. Cotton and Sa'sori fire more acid at the creature as Vera backs away attempting to heal herself before losing the spell. The statue then adjusts its grip on its two shields swinging both down at Moria.

The golem can't seem to pin the nimble Moria down. Cotton's acid is eating the golem, and Dyrm's fire is doing devastating damage to it, but it still is managing to move.

Sa'sori takes a step back from out of the reach of the wooden Golem to add her own arcane power to her "little sister's" efforts...

She smirks commenting rather lewdly, "This thing is harder to convince to 'go down', than a fresh warrior priestess of IOMEDAE!"

Seeing the state of the Golem, and with Dyrm's assistance Vera decides to try and put the Golem down before worrying about healing anymore. She 5 foot steps back into range before swinging her axe down with all she's got.

Round 5 Recap
Moria retains her defensive posture against the golem. Dyrm steps down and lays a healing hand upon Vera. Cotton and Sa'sori splash another glob of acid at the large golem melting away at its thick shielding. Vera steps forward heaving her greataxe down into Kassem's visage. The golem staggers and drops both shields with a ground shaking pulse and falls to the ground.

Sa'sori smiles at Vera, "No problem."

Then turning casts detect magic to look for anything enchanted within the room.


The shields are large and poorly designed tower shields. Each one easily weighs 60 pounds. Wielding them will burden it's wielded as flat footed in addition to the normal -2 penalty for tower shields. They do not have a magical aura.

Dodging the heavy blows of the giant golem was tiring so while Cotton and Sa'sori took a look around, Moira caught her breadth. She felt fairly useless during that whole fight. Her blades could barely nick the beast let alone do much damage. But with one mighty chop, Vera took it down. The orc half still brought back bad memories but she was slowly separating them from Vera.

In response to Cotton, "They might not be magical but that man implied they would be needed for something. I think we might have to drag them along."

Map Update

The door opens to a narrow corridor that is flanked by a row of human statues, set into alcoves on each side. The statues look like Kassen, and each one holds a longsword out in front of it. The blades of half the statues are wrapped in leather padding.

Sa'sori speaks up, "Wait... don't you get it? That's what the big tower shields are for! You carry both and walk to the end. I'll bet there is a switch on the other end that once you pass the swinging padded sword figure you flip it and the trap is disarmed. The traps are 'meant' to be teaching and learning lesson... remember the shield are inscribed - 'Home' and 'Family'? They are the thing that one should reply on to shelter and protect you... or at least that seems to be the lesson here for this particular 'trail'."

The sensuous half-elven woman child begins to sheath her elven curve blade back across her shapely shoulders... causing the weapon's scabbard strap across her chest to accentuate her enticing figure all the more and she continues, "..If you don't want to do it.. give me the shields and I'll do it...!"

"We can't all go down the corridor with these shields, so Moira can still CAREFULLY go check the other door while we try your idea." Vera looks at the shield she's carrying and back Sa'sori's thin arms. "Can you even lift one of these though? I think it may weigh more than you do."

"I think the shields will come in use somewhere else but if you want to try go ahead. Vera brings up a good point though. Those things are larger and heavier than average. Looks like a hundred pounds or more for the two of them." Sa'sori does give Moira an idea though. She is almost positive this hallway is meant to be traversed from the other side so she takes a quick look just beyond the doorway for a switch to turn off the trap.

Something like a violet fire ignites in the pretty half-elven woman-child's gaze... a smouldering in back of her pretty violet eyes! She does not frown but gets that oh too familiar stern look of rebellious self-determination and pride that her friends are well familiar with in the fetching pout and grim expression on her lovely features!

She takes the shield from Vera hefting it resolutely on her right arm and turns to Dyrm to reach for the other shield to secure to her left arm.

With exaggerated and cold politeness she says,"...splitting up the party is unwise... I can handle this!"

... Vera thinks she may have pricked her friend's pride! lol!

{A tower shield weights 45lbs... so two of them are 90lbs, a heavy encumbrance for her but far from unmovable. Though her move is only 20'ft and she can't run for triple speed she can still double move at 40'ft. Just enough to get all the way down the hall in one round.}

Sa'sori... makes ready to move down the hallway, setting one tower shield for her left flank for full cover and the other tower shield for her right flank for full cover.

DM said they are 60 each, most likely cause they are large size. That's 120 lbs. Still a heavy load but if you carry anything else you can't do it. Good luck.

Oh the Tower shields are large? Well that makes it even easier! She can set them on the ground by their edge very much like a pair of metal walls.. and drag them along at her sides slowly, of course, taking full advantage of their Full cover. She can easily drag their weight with her gear included! Though... not quietly. lol.


Moria, peering down the hall you see a very well hidden pressure plate between the second set of statues (marked on the map). Sa'sori, the shields in hand are are indeed bulky and poorly designed tower shields. They could certainly be held in place and create a wall against an unmoving attacker, but their poorly weighted design makes them more of a hinderance during real combat.

She doesn't see the switch she was hoping for but she does spot the pressure plate to activate the statues easily enough. At least she assumed it would activate the statue with the sword. They were a little rushed. But there was also no point in stopping Sa'sori. This was a matter of pride for here now. So she leans against the door frame watching her struggle with the unwieldy shields.

Sa'sori begins down the hallway... dragging the tower shields as she huddles behind their bulk..

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

She will double move at a rate of 20'ft... moving 40'ft down the hallway to the end.

"Pressure plate here," Dyrm says, "Does anyone have anything we can put a mark around these things with? Chalk or the like?"


Using the shields as a wall from the statues on each side Sa'sori drags her way into the hall. Upon placing weight on the pressure plate the statues blades swing down. The blades catch and crack the wood in the tower shields while the other 3 sets lock in place vertically blocking the passage way and blocking the half elf from her allies.

The blades can be carefully climbed over with a DC 10 Acrobatics or Escape artist check. Otherwise climbing the blades will deal 1d4 points of damage from the sharp blades.

Sa'sori, starts with a ... rather fetching squeak of surprise that she made every attempt to suppress.

She turns to regard the blades behind her blocking the hallway... and she smirks.

Releasing the tower shields to stand on their own leaning them against the statues, Sa'sori casts acid splash at each of the blades behind her blocking the path to damage and weaken them.

Acid Splash Damage: 'Point Blank-Damage' 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Hardness 10, Acid Resistance 5? I thought metal had a weak resistance to acid.


Sure, the club will do no damage. A few more shots of the acid will burn through the metal though.

Seeing her club making no progress... Sa'sori goes back to cutting loose with Acid Splash spells...

Cantrips can be re-cast without being expended.. Sa'sori casts until the blades are destroyed or the party comes to help with destroying them.

She does comment to the party, "Is something wrong with your feet suddenly? You could come over here and help y'know? I have triggered the trap."

"To be accurate, you've sprung ONE of the traps. There's no guarantee there aren't others. But I suppose I can help break the blades." Vera hefts her axe onto her shoulder and carefully follows Sa'sori and starts hacking away at the statue's weapons.

Sa'sori gives Moria a cute smile but with a sour expression, "And you know perfectly well I meant 'I can handle' carrying the shields! The plan was to spring the trap, then WE could disable it so it is no longer an obstacle to US. But by all means let's waste some more time playing silly word games while some undead creature does who-knows-what to that young woman he's taken. My words were only in conflict to narrow-minded numbskulls trying to make a pointless point, when they don't have one."

Though her tongue was no less sharp... for foolish commentary, even if her tone is one of jest in kind.

Sa'sori turns back around and picks up the shields to drag them on to the end of the hallway again shielding herself behind their bulk to the end thought she is trying to pay more attention to the floor looking for trip wires or additional pressure plates.

It takes time to cut through all 3 sets of swords but you can break through then all and find yourself at the end of the hall facing a door.

"My swords wouldn't have done much better than your club," Moira says sadly, remembering how ineffective her attacks were on the golem. "And I am pretty sure this is only going to take us back to the entrance." However once Sa'sori is done melting the swords she follows her down to the end of the hall. If nothing else happens she props the shield by the door and opens it from behind the shield.
