Gem of Water Elemental
Vera never knew her parents. She has been told they were merchants, but it never meant much to Vera. They were attacked like so many others by Orcs. Her father was slain and her mother was ravaged and left for dead. She was rescued and nursed back to health, but after her ordeal she had lost her will to carry on. Nine months later when Vera was born, she died without even naming her newborn child. Few were willing to take on a half-orc baby, but they lacked the will to simply dispose of it as well. As such she was taken to the church were she was raised. Vera was not well treated outside of the church, so she rarely left. That's not to say the people of the church were particularly friendly either, but they took care of her. In time she began training as a cleric. One must earn their keep and there were precious few paths open to her. However, rather than worship Erastil, she chose to worship Gorum. Gorum was, supposedly at least, born from the conflict between humans and orcs just as Vera was. As such, she felt a strong kinship with him.
She worked hard learning from Rantal Prasst. Vera wouldn't call him a friend, but he treated her better than most. In time, she had even earned some measure of respect from the man. She was surprised however when he suggested she take part in retrieving the Everflame. She had worked hard and had earned much, but he told her that if she didn't leave the church and earn the trust of the villagers, Kassen would never be her home. She seeks to join the adventuring party in an attempt to truly earn a place in the village.
