DM Immortal |
Roll perception for him, it'll be relatively easy but since he would probably be at the other end of the ship from the cat it's possible for him to fail lol. If he succeeds then he can fly down to you as his action in round 1.
DM Immortal |
...and I'm not sure that a scream would qualify to wake you up through him. If he himself was getting attacked then I would say yes but not in this instance. For all he knows someone is having a nightmare.
Variel Nightstorm |
Also something to consider even though I am assuming the assassin can manage it easily, VAriel did buy a lock for the door that Jiro, Rain, himself and Dhaavan have a key to. The DC is 30 for future reference.
Should be able to make it but it might take him a bit more time and the possibility of detection is then higher.
Horatio Flynn |
Amen-set agrees completely with Rain.
If someone wants a specific item made for them via “Crafting Components” then they need to buy those components and give them to Dhaavan.
The stuff we have been taking “for the ship” is supposed to be stuff that improves the ship.
Magical artillery; scrolls of “Make Whole”; magical sails; hooded lanterns which surround “everburning torches” – that sort of thing.
Also, as stated – she helps her friends. If someone was her friend and asked her to help them get some materials or parts, or whatever, she will happily do so.
Dhaavan – I did see your earlier post, and I recognized it. But no one said anything at the time, and I was off doing scouting. I was waiting for feedback from the others.
Amen-set would certainly have helped you get that stuff; and will get the stuff via ret-con, as the GM said it’s okay.
The only question is – how much loot do we spend on what?
Right now it looks like crafting supplies are the chief thing. How much on each?
Remember; if our ship is damaged, and we don’t have the stuff to fix it, that can be a problem.
Right now, I recommend splitting it 60/40. Sixty percent on Mundane stuff; so we can try crafting new sails, or new rudders; or that sort of thing. Unless we can craft magical stuff for the ship, it doesn’t seem very reasonable.
Also, I know we have a lot more than 3,000 GP for the ship; because as far as I know, we haven’t spent any of the ship’s resources on anything so far; except for plunder to pay the crew, and we’ve been putting it aside for some time.
Anyway, once I get a hard figure for what I need to roll; I will.
Variel Nightstorm |
Touche oh Immortal one. Will have to pick up a lock for the window next time in port. That combined with arcane lock and alarm scrolls. Paranoid, no, just second attempt on Variel's life.
DM Immortal |
That would be a good thing to do...if he had gone through the window. ;-) DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!
Rain Taneththir |
@Flynn: 60/40 works for me (60% on mundane, 40% on magical).
@Var: You have to be nice to my magical kitty now. She saved your life and possibly mine too with her warning!
Horatio Flynn |
Apologies for the delay in posting.
I was babysitting my nephew until recently.
Now I have a project I need to get done.
It may take time.
When it is done, I will have something on the boards.
I am sorry for the delay.
Variel Nightstorm |
Flynn,
As for the amount in the ship's coffers, we only have 3000gp. Not only do we spend a point of loot on the crew for payment, but it also costs us 1000gp per month for supplies. We do have some mundane materials, 580, for repairs as listed on the spreadsheet. We also purchased some extra ballista bolts and rounds for the catapult last time in port.
Horatio Flynn |
Variel - that figure does not make sense to me.
As of now, we have divided the loot into equal parts.
After we divide the loot; we allocate 1 equal part to each officer; and 2 parts to the ship.
This means that when we look at everyone's relative gear - the figure is roughly 10,000 GP a piece.
Therefore, the ship should have roughly 20,000 GP.
The fact that it has only 3,000 doesn't make sense.
Where did all that loot go that we put aside for the ship?
To be fair; I know where some of it went; but I thought we had decent coin before we left Bloodcove the first time.
So I am a bit confused.
Variel Nightstorm |
First off the amount we have is closer to 7500 not counting the fact that the character wealth was increased by crafting. That means that the ship only has 15000 not 20000. 3000 of which we have on hand in gp. 600 for mundane repair materials, 3000 for monthly supplies, 200 for astrolabe, compass and sextant, 200 for ammunition, and 8000 for ship upgrades brings us to 15000 and this is just stuff off the top of my head.
Trust me Flynn, I have been very diligent about keeping the spreadsheet up to date. Both of them in regards to crew, infamy, wealth, etc. the only thing I need is the infamy Dhaavan got this last time to have everything updated.
Dhaavan |
I got us 1 infamy. Missed the DC by 1 point for 2 infamy, but cest'la vi. Guess Dhaavan's gotta learn to lie... [sigh]
Unless ya think Intimidate being my high skill would be better on the boat, just depends on who ya'd enjoy having as your first mate? A liar that you trust implicitly, or someone ta put the Dread in the Dread Lady.
Looks like we still have those Ninja-suits from before. How exactly would we identify their abilities, Imm? cause i jsut saw a thread on em, and they're pretty cool for being REALLY cheap. prolly good for our next infiltration, non?
DM Immortal |
Yeah I was doing the attacks and I was like "Seriously...another friggen crit on Variel...can't I crit someone else for a change?" Don't get me wrong I like to crit against my players as much as the next DM but this is kind of ridiculous. I was looking at his sheet hoping that "maybe he has uncanny dodge or something" but no. Thankfully he has two hero points to save himself from dying. Rain and Neko might be in trouble though.
Variel Nightstorm |
Dhaavan if the group wants to spring for fortification armor Variel is all for it. Of course sleeping without armor on makes the fortification useless...
Just do me a favor and not kill him so Variel can enjoy the punishment later. Variel might slip into a bit more evil alignment with this guy.
Amen-set Neitaker |
Cool.
This is a bit of ret-con; but to simplify – Amen-set will then be buying the following:
1. 1,500 gear for magical crafting supplies.
Diplomacy Check
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
2. 1,500 gear for mundane crafting supplies.
Diplomacy Check
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Not sure how much that earned; just need opposed rolls.
After the opposed rolls have been tabulated; the new totals can be stored in the ship.
Rain Taneththir |
I have a very full day ahead of me as it is the busy season at work this month. I will post Rain's actions later my afternoon. Sorry for the hold up.
Also Imm., I'm going to send you a pm regarding Neko as I need a few things clarified before I can post. It should be in your inbox soon.
Edit: sent.
I will be back on the boards later, guys.
Horatio Flynn |
Thanks, Imm. The next three days are going to be full on.
Also, you'll need to pencil in time to create an avatar for your cat, because that would be sweet!
Make sure you give the pic laser eyes ;)
JAF0 |
touchy touchy... geeze
anyway sure would be nice if we could actually create our own avatars instead of using what provide for us... THere is a green eyed kitty but it has wings... not sure if there's anything else close. Posting under that avatar now so you can see it... it's more lionish than kitty though
Seijiro |
hehe... didn't have to look far - it's my normal posting ID/avatar for the discussion boards. I love kitties, so fell for this one right away. But I thought of it as soon as you got Neko...
anyway, hope your time becomes less stressful... mine is going to be insane for the next few days...
Tonight I'm attending a friend's daughter's hs graduation, tomorrow I have my quilting group all day, my guild at night, thursday I have mah jong and quilting at night, friday I'm going to a play, I won't have a clear day until Saturday... May have to check in from my phone for a few days and I can post from my phone, but I can't format anything, so no dice rolls from the phone.
Neko the Golden |
High five for insane days ahead. Keep your sanity, Jiro! It is end of financial year here for us accounting folk. Congrats on your friend's daughter's graduation. :)
How about this avatar for Neko? I will keep searching. Well I went through all the 2,400 odd avatars and could not find any better than this. So this it shall be.
Variel Nightstorm |
Jiro, Rain, make it easy on yourself and get hit once with sneak attack and then critically hit. You will have the next couple of days off and not have to worry about posting. Works for me apparently. J/k

I love it!
It looks like a combination of Aslan and Garfield.
Sweet :)

Rain just got a bad ouchie. She is protecting Variel's prone body -- making herself a nice target for the ninja assassin. ;p If she dies for you, you better shed a tear, Var. Or else Besmara and Gozreh will kick your butt. Not to mention Neko, if she survives!
@Flynn: Thanks! I like the look on the cat's face -- seems very Neko like. ;) Especially when she's upset with Variel. LOL

My hatey-a' will be there when he is able to help, senet.
Yet the Keeper of the Dead shall not die; the Great Father shall not allow it. You will survive and the enemy shall drown in lakes of blood. Bi la kaifi!
Rain Taneththir |
@Immortal: The fast healing 1 (from the Healing Judgement Rain pronounced): when does the 1 hp return in each new round (beginning or end)? It doesn't say anything in the rules.
Seijiro |
Sorry can't format so posting this here - seijiro readies an action for when assassin reappears to move into flank if possible and attack
DM Immortal |
Seijiro you can't ready a move AND a standard action. You can move and then ready an action to strike if the assassin reveals himself.
Seijiro |
In that case just delay
Variel Nightstorm |
I know Jiro mentioned it once but wasn't sure reading through it now, did he unlock the door into the cabin yet?
DM Immortal |
Unless they get higher than the ninja it doesn't really matter too much. Go ahead and go when you are able to post as I think that will be easiest than waiting for individuals.
DM Immortal |
Ok I've got a question for you guys and I kind of need to know from everyone. How tactically sound do you want me to make your opponents? As in do you want me to play them to the hilt with the knowledge they have or do you want me to hold back so that people don't get killed? So far I've been holding back just a teensy bit as far as what your enemies will do. For instance, a good assassin would have stabbed Variel again to make sure he was dead and would stab Dhaavan now to do the same. I didn't have him do that because I'm not sure how hardcore you all want to go. I gave you hero points as kind of a one time get out of jail free card but I don't want you to think you are totally safe from dying either. Piracy is a rough life. Let me know what you all think.
Dhaavan |
Personally, I'm a fan of not dying, but I think death should be a real possibility. That said, in a Hero-point situation, I'd say that for all intents and purposes, you're pretty much dead, to any reasonable degree of certanty, and it's by the barest luck that a character escaped maiming.
Like this situation with Var, the assassin put his blade straight through Variel's chest with the expected hemroging and such, to the point that Var stopped bleeding cause he blead out right there, Donzo.
I'd say that anyone would be unaware that the blade missed the heart, and Var was barely clinging to life.
Dhaavan, on the otherhand, is clearly still alive. While it'd suck to die (hero-point with a added goodie cause I only got one), it's fair game I guess...
Someone save me?
