He runs over to Krogar. Muttering a quick prayer, he curses the cult that ruined his life.
His hands glow yellow, and as he lays them on Krogar, the clerics wounds knit together-at least a little bit.

December 26th Update

Abu quickly moves to assist Krogar and while the burly dwarf misses with his staff, Abu uses that distraction to sink a knife into the man. He stumbles, and falls over.

"No! Please!"

Darwin seemingly finding grips in the wall's imperfections, hoists himself with great speed and moves to take on the ranged attackers.

Krogar is then assisted by Jamenas, and feels the warmth of healing move though his body.

The man next to Darwin drops his crossbow and draws his sword Which I'm pretty sure doesn't provoke AoO

He starts to attack Darwin as the other's continue their assault on the others.

9 damage to Abu

One arrow does to tear through Abu's arm, but the rest of the party manages to fend off the rest of the attacks.

It seems the party is pressing their advantage hard, and the victory is almost upon them...

Yet...something feels wrong...

Then you here them, almost imperceptible, but four humans have come from around the fort and are sprinitng towards you!

December 26th Update

Pretty sure it was both of you, but I don't skip unless a majortiy of the party has posted. no worries.

Darwin's strike is parried successfully as is Krogar staff attack against the new opponants. Abu tries scaling the wall as everyone fights around him, but isn't able to get a clean enough grip and slides back to the ground. However, Jamenas is able to see a gap in the defense of Krogar's opponent, and draws blood.

The fleeing soldier tries crawling to safety (Abu gets an AoO). The archer's can't get a clear shot now that everyone so close to the gate entrance, so they holster their crossbows and draw their scimitars. The new combatants move and attack Jamenas and Krogar, and the one guy fighting Darwin is desperately hoping backup is coming.

December 26th Update

Jamenas, take two actions this round

Krogar lashes out with his staff, but is parried by the shell shield that the new knight-like opponents wield. However, he does manage to get one good hit in. It looks like these new guys are a bit tougher than the others and he still remains standing. Darwin attacks with a deft slash and sends his opponent screaming off the wall, he lands on the ground, the impact killing him. Abu viciously approaches the fleeing man and finishes the job. Afterwards, he takes another attempt at scaling the wall, but manages to get halfway up before a crumbling stone he gripped forces him to pause to stabilize his position.
Correct Abu, skull and crossbones = dead/incapicated

The four remaining guards on top of the wall position themselves, one to attack Darwin, two to "greet" Abu when he actually reaches the top.

Darwin is attacked, and all the new combatants bring their sawlike swords down on Jamenas and Krogar.

Abu successfully manages to scale the wall, though he very nearly loses his grip again near the top. Jamenas calls upon his power, and with one final strike, he tears through the adversary that he and Krogar had been whittling down.

Redirecting Krogar's attack

Krogar plants himself firm and after patching himself in the heat of battle, he jabs his stave into a vulnerable portion of armor of a new opponent. The enemy grimaces in pain, but he pushes past it as his training taught him.

Darwin's sword is as sharp as his tongue, and he deftly wounds his new opponent, who completely falls for Darwin's baiting and goes in swinging.

Darwin is showing his mastery once more and down's another opponent, and hasn't even taken damage. His cocksure attitude is definitely pissing these guys off.
The body collapses and is now difficult terrain until moved off the wall for you Darwin.

Abu, most likely rattled by the pain, swings wildly with his sword trying to catch his opponents unawares but misses completely. His blood is making his grip slick, and he almost loses his sword, but manages to hold on.

Jamenas almost succeeds in gutting the enemy, but a deft shield parries the blow and leaves him wide open for a counterattack!

Fortunately, Krogar calls down the influence of his divine being and blasts both Abu and Jamenas with divine healing energy. Some wounds close instantly as if your skin was zipping itself up, and bruises fade to healthy skin.

December 26th Update

Jamenas, feel free to take two actions/two attacks next round

Krogar manages to do some more work but the ground party clearly has more potent enemies to fight, and though injured, the adversary does not fall yet.

Darwin does what he was trained for. After all, when he swings his sword people usually die. And so another man falls to his blade, collapsing on the ground and leaving only one man on the wall.

Sorry, actually no men since Abu takes the opportune moment that Darwin creates to bring his short sword puncturing the stomach of the last man on the wall. He gasps.

"You little s@~%!" he manages to say, his weapon dropped, and trying to reach the small gnome as if he had the strength in his arms to grab him. A couple seconds later, he slumps on the wall as well, dead.

Well...the wall enemies have been cleared, and the ground enemies haven't seemed to notice.

The remaining ground combatants press on, thinking they still have back up on the wall and can make short work of this dwarf and human on the ground.

In battle they say, all you need is to make one fatal misstep. Krogar saw the sword stroke come down, and raised his shield to block, when the wielder twisted in midswing to cleave Jamenas’s shoulder. He never saw the other guard take advantage of his distraction to slip his blade underneath his shield. There was a sudden burst of pain from his midsection, and then he felt the strength leave him, and he tumbled onto the ground. Then there was only darkness.

December 26th Update

He's not dead yet Jamenas (wink)

Darwin and Abu, finished with their business at the higher level, sprint into action to aid their comrades who have taken a large beating.

You won't have to roll acrobatics for this one Abu

Darwin's blade sinks into a very surprised man, and as it twists in his wound he can tell the pain it illicits as it spreads on the man's face. Abu tries to deliver a blow, but a wild swing from the soldier forces him to fall back so to not put himself in danger. Jamenas releases two consecutive blows, and soon only two foes remain.

The two remaining men look at each other, nod, and turn to flee.

Jamenas, feel free to roll AoO. Darwin, not out of the woods yet, but another play can stabilize you with a heal check or some kind of healing.

December 26th Update

Yeah, I did mean Krogar

Krogar, life almost gone from his body, suddenly breathes a deep gasp as his eyes open. A quick healing spell with have that effect on most dying men.

The two men who fled have almost reached the crest of a hill you passed over to reach this fort. You could try and track/catch up to them but it would definitely take a while and some endurance.

Other than those two though, you have broken through the fort's first line of defense. Whether that was all the people stationed here or not....well, only one way to find out.

Move in or retreat guys?

Krogar coughs as he levers himself slowly off the ground, wincing from the pain in his side."Last thing I remember was getting run through. Who pulled me back? My thanks."

He picks himself up to his feet and gives Darwin a blistering glare. "I nearly died and you're saying it was a nice fight?"

"What we should do is to retreat someplace. I can fix most of this," He gestures at Abu, Jamenas and himself who are covered with blood."But I need to be uninterrupted. "
