Camlo sneaks ahead into the next cavern. He finds two sets of giant bunks and various other accoutrements of a stone giant guardroom. What he doesn't find is any giants. A tunnel leads away deeper into the complex.

"Yeah. Then we just got the trolls to deal with, and then its down to Mokmurian's library."

Past the guardroom, the passage widens out. A smaller side-branch heads north, but the main corridor heads south-east. Here the walls are hung with furs, and beyond the passage constricts and sloping further down steeply.

Camlo, Perception check DC 20:

The walls of this wider, fur-festooned passage are in fact perforated with gaps a foot wide which lead into caverns beyond on either side.

The tunnel seems to be spiralling down. It's hard to tell how far it goes from the top. You can travel a few turns but it doesn't stop yet.

Once she has a response, she follows up with, "Does the path we need spiral downward a long way?"


"Two trolls," Enga says brightly, and not very quietly. "Dunno how far the path goes, never been down there myself."

Camlo, how large is the tunnel at the fur cave? Are the caves on the same side of the tunnel? Wondering if a single silence spell can block sound from traveling down the tunnel."

Camlo heads back up the passage. As he approaches the fur-festooned section, he notices that the walls are in fact perforated with gaps a foot wide which lead into caverns beyond on either side. He can also hear snoring coming from the right-hand side, behind the furs on that side of the passage (assuming you are facing up the corridor towards the other guys).

I probably ought to draw a map at this point.

Even a 1 isn't an automatic fail for a skill check, it depends on the DC - which is the opposed Perception of anyone paying attention in this case. DC 35 Perception check? I don't think so...

Not all giants have darkvision (it would appear, from a quick perusal of the Bestiary, though stone giants and trolls do) so perhaps they have provided a bit of lighting after all.

Anyway...

Map. The spiral ramp downwards is at the bottom of the map, and the branch of the passage heading off the top of the map heads to the section of the caves Conna suggested you avoid. I've placed Camlo but I don't know where anyone else is - the large rectangular room at the top is the giant guardroom. Camlo is in the fur room, the red lines are the furs. Note that there are lots of holes in the walls, but only one is big enough for a troll. The snoring is coming from Camlo's right.

Looking at the map, I'm wondering if we understood the layout - are there two ways into the guardroom, or just the one shown on the map? I was thinking we passed through the guardroom to get where we are - i.e., to reach Conna, we would head west through the guardroom.

Ok, sneek in, shove the perl in it's gob and slam shut, then run....That's the plan...
