I will be skipping 1-5, 1-8, and 1-9. The courting of fire, outlaws of the iron route, and tale tree tale. (unless someone DMs them first, then I will run them later)
It will be adventures league. I recommend brining in a fresh level 1 character, so you don't level out of tier, if season all level 1-4 season 1 is done, I move onto season 2 level 1-4s. Then when you hit level 5, go to 1-10 to 1-14.
There is one reserved spot: Aeshuura
I will accept up to 6 others.
FAQS:
1. normal, weaker than average, stronger than average are recommendations, not requirements. I want to get you all through the story, and because I don't want combats to take up weeks (and they do in PBP) you will always be weaker than average party in combat recommendations.
2. People expecting a challenge should not apply. If this was table-top I would have no problem adjusting the encounters as recommended, but because I want to get you through this, and I prefer to tell a story, always weaker than average party combats are run.. Just not weakest party, as that would be too easy. If you are normal or strong party and the module is set for weaker than average, does not mean cake either. D&D is all about strategy, roleplaying and resource management. You can be a level 4 character with 3 magic items, but if you run into a hoard of 30 enemies alone and your party is miles away, you will either die or use up all of your abilities and resources defeating them all.
3. Although this means you level up slightly slower, the minimum experience means you will be level 2 in one module, and be level 3 through most of it.
4. People wanting a good story should apply. And think of your choices. You can save the hostage or get the hostage killed.
5. Treasure hunters. You don't have to kill everything to get its treasure, almost always siding with it, means treasure. This however, is not true with evil creatures, I can almost guarantee they don't want you to share their treasure, though you can make truths with them.
Aeshuura |
Woot! I have three character concepts that I have written up:
halfling sorcerer 1 (wild magic) - He was going to be Jeff's cousin from the Baldur's Gate Acquisitions Inc. game. They grew up fans of Jim Darkmagic... How ironic that his hero killed his cousin... :p
human cleric 1 (life domain) - An amnesiac ex-soldier that carries a holy symbol of Ilmater, but seems not to fit the typical follower of the god.
human bard 1 - Young folk hero archer that makes everyone better! (NOT a healer!)
I can play any of them, depending what fits best with the group, though the cleric is the only one that was built with the Tyranny of Dragons in mind.

Yeah, @DoubleGold, I am hoping to complete running The Courting of Fire, before we start this up. You think we can postpone this one until we're done with that one? Or are you just checking on interest?
You don't want to DM and play at the same time? Play by Post goes slow enough, that you will find it isn't stressful. Now playing like 6 games at one time would be tough, as well as dming 3 or more games.
Aeshuura |
For me, I have 1 game going on at Enworld, then running the other one while I am technically sneaking on at work. Past experience has told me that it takes a little more time when I am running than when I am playing.
Sorry. I don't want to rush through this... I would rather enjoy it.
You may understand once I start, because I hope to make your guys' experience as fun as possible with 1-05. It's just my personal style and preference. Hope you understand.
DoubleGold |
Honestly I would prefer by the rules. The challenge is part of what makes it fun. Of course, I am the guy that always starts games on hard mode.
You mean by suggestion. It does say recommended adjustments. If it was required, then it would be against the rules of adventures league not to bump the party or to give them weaker than average party adjustments when they are considered a stronger than average party.
But I understand what you mean.
Siriak |
I would be interested in playing a ranger or a rogue, or even a wizard if the group has no arcane. I don't know much about the Adventurer's League, but I was a long time RPGA member (and of course PFS). The Adventure's League stuff is all online so I could check it out this weekend and get a character written up.
DoubleGold |
Doubles, I am fine with running with it as suggested. Not much for optimization. But story it paramount, so do as you see fit. ^_^
Thanks, I have a feeling if I were to follow the suggested recommendation adjustments, this could take two years on PBP for an entire season, and people tend to forget the story the longer the game takes. Running it combat light allows me to focus on story more often so I'm not taking a week for one combat to finish, and get it done in a couple of months.

He wears leather armor, with two short swords at his side and a longbow strung across his back.

His mother was forced to raise the child in the atmosphere of increased xenophobia that befell Hillsfar in the 1460s. She and her child were forced to leave the city proper and live in nearby countryside. She quickly began to resent the child. As soon as he was able, Authion left his mother and made his way to Elventree, where he learned the the skills of a hunter and guide. The life of a ranger suited Authion and he has treveled all around the Moonsea, pushed onward by his wanderlust. He loved his sister very much and did what he had to in order to support them both. Eventually, he fell in with the Fire Knives as a burglar and street thug. He did very well for himself at first. In those days he was proud and quick to anger. One day, he had a run in with a younger member of the Bleth family. Letting his emotions get the better of him, he beat the younger Bleth soundly in a fistfight. Thinking that was the end of it, he went out with some of his friends. Later, when he returned home, he found that Bleth and taken his vengeance on Torgon’s younger sister, who Torgon found brutally murdered. Since that day he has sworn never to let his emotions take control of him again. For weeks, he wandered around in a drunken haze, blaming himself for his sister’s death. I also have a DCI number. I actually have two. Once I figure out which one I am going to use, I will add It to the this post.

Well, here's my alias. She's a soldier, a sniper/scout. Human, short side of average height, athletic build, looks younger than she is, wears dark/camo clothes.
The internet ate my first attempt at typing her profile, so I will get that posted ASAP. Profile posted! Is there anything I need to change?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't 1-1 parts 1 through 5 only for level 1 characters. I can make my Bard level 1 or I can bring in my barbarian.
I only have 5 characters thought out well and know how I want to play them. 1 is in the other pbp, one is too high level, 1 is reserved for season 4 and the last two are the barbarian and the bard.
