Asok:
You spot a fallen pine tree with lots of bones littering the ground

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1 (Thug)/Barbarian 1 (Urban Barbarian)

"Hold." Asok whispers. He points to a fallen pine tree nearby around which there appear to be numerous bones scattered on the ground. He readies his shortbow and climbs down off Brand's back.

Eliane will draw her sling and load a bullet.

Male Human Wizard 2

Halloran will cast Mage Armor on himself, then dismount, holding his staff.

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren throws a leg over Duneah's head and slides from the saddle. He looks cautiously around before approaching the log and bones. "Feels like the spider's lair, doesn't it, Halloran?"

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Reaching the bones and log he tries to discern the nature of the bones and why the tree had fallen.

Survival 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Know(nature) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Heal 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Male Human Wizard 2

Halloran grimaces and clutches his staff in a two-handed grip, as he looks behind to make sure nothing is sneaking up on them.

You just HAD to bring that up, didn't you? he mutters.

Silstaren:
The tree fell naturally due to lightning strike,
the bones are of animals.

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren explains that the tree was brought down by lightning and the bones are animal bones.

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1 (Thug)/Barbarian 1 (Urban Barbarian)

"I doubt the tree fell on the animals to leave so many bones." Asok says before stooping to examine the ground for tracks. "There may be a predator around."

Survival to look for tracks. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Male Elf Ranger

"Very reasonable. Hopefully our predator is long gone."

Any clue as to the size and type of the animals?

Asok:
The freshest tracks look a few hours old, and by a big boar.

Silstaren:
Bones are mostly small creatures, though a few medium sized ones are there.

Eliane will use spirit sense to detect the presence of fey undead or etheral creatures.

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren continues to look over the bones, "Mostly small animals, some a little larger. "

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1 (Thug)/Barbarian 1 (Urban Barbarian)

"Boar tracks. A big one too." Asok says in a hushed voice.

Male Human Wizard 2

How long ago did he leave? Halloran whispers.

Knowledge: Nature 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Halloran is trying to remember anything he knows about boars.

Male Elf Ranger

The elf stands and moves over to where Asok is looking over the boar's tracks.

Asok's on a survival roll!

Survival (Aid another to Asok if needed) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

When we say big boar -- how big are we talking? Larger end of the natural spectrum or dire-sized?

can I aid another or am too busy spirit sensing?

no undead or etheral creatures

Boar: animal, mean, angry, and has a bad temper, and not the easiest to kill

No data from Survival check

Male Elf Ranger

Big normal-sized boar or big dire-sized boar?

"It looks like he came this way, and rooted through the bones. I can't tell how long ago..."

Male Human Wizard 2

Halloran looks around trying to spot any movement in the surrounding area.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Should we look for the boar, or move on and hope we don't run into it?

Male Elf Ranger

"Let's move on. We're not short on food, so I can think of no reason to seek out potentially lethal prey."

1d100 ⇒ 61

Grin

Elaine says"I don't think following its tracks is the best idea." Elaine now looks to make sure are not following its tracks 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Male Human Wizard 2

Well then let's go, Halloran says moving back to his horse.

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren also returns to his horse. He mounts lightly and uses pressure from one knee to pivot the horse until it's facing down the trail in te party's original direction of travel. He keeps his shortbow and a single arrow clasped in his left hand as he kicks Duneah forward.

On the road again.

Which way?

Male Elf Ranger

Continue moving southeast.

southeast++;

Male Human Wizard 2

Remember everyone, we get 100 xp for each hex we clear.

Male Elf Ranger

That's why we need to keep moving.

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1 (Thug)/Barbarian 1 (Urban Barbarian)

MOAR EXPS!!

Perception Check DC: 15:
You find a dense patch of rare raspberry-like berries that grows in a long, thin valley between two
low hills here. Much of the thorny thicket is draped in the white gossamer silk of spider webs.

GM:
Fangberry Thicket pg 28

Elaine looks aroudn while continuning to travel 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Male Elf Ranger

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Silstaren rides on, waiting to see if one of the others will spot it.

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1 (Thug)/Barbarian 1 (Urban Barbarian)

Asok sniffs the air, picks his teeth, practices archery, but doesn't notice anything.

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Male Human Wizard 2

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Halloran sees nothing. If Silstaren doesn't say something, we're probably just going to ride on by.

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren sits up in his saddle and affectedly sniffs the air. He smiles at the others and reins to the right, leading Duneah into a natural lane made by a dry brook through the trees toward a slightly brighter patch of green vegetation between two low hills.

"Fang berries," he says quietly.

DM AZ's post : You find a dense patch of rare raspberry-like berries that grows in a long, thin valley between two
low hills here. Much of the thorny thicket is draped in the white gossamer silk of spider webs.

I think I may have heard of them before I wonder what they are useful for. knowledge nature to determine uses 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Male Elf Ranger

"One use is to flavor Bokken's potions. We can trade these for discounts on any potion that he makes." Silstaren looks at the webs and frowns. "I hadn't expected so many spiders."

Eliane asks Halloran "If you have a spell to move the berries at a distance might be able to aviod disturbing the spiders and still get the berries Sticking a hand down there might not be the best idea."

Male Human Wizard 2

Good idea, Halloran agrees with Elaine. I've had enough of spiders for awhile.

Halloran will ride to within 30 ft. of the thicket and use Mage Hand to gather the berries, it's a cantrip so he can use it repeatedly, and he can move any object that weighs less then 5 lbs. He can only move 1 object at a time though, so it's probably going to take him awhile to gather enough berries, he'll try to maintain a distance of at least 20 ft., if he can, and gather the berries in a sack.

the berries pop as Halloran tries to use Mage Hand

Male Human Wizard 2

Seriously? That wasn't in the spell description. I call Shenanigans!

With the failure of his spell Halloran rides back to the others and says, This isn't working, we'll have to try something else. Anybody have any ideas?

The berries are very delicate, and require picking by hand,
and a good storage container

Male Human Wizard 2

I still call Shenanigans, Evil Shenanigans.

Even if you could use mage hand,
you have to see the target and most
of the ones at the edge have been
eaten by wildlife (birds and rodents).

And the spiders here are not the same size as the last ones.

Eliane:
You know that the best berries are at the heart of the patch, and it has to be done carefully, as the plant is thorny and the berries delicate.
Though someone wearing a high end medium or heavy armour can move in the patch without worrying about the thorns.
