Male Human Wizard 2
Is that supposed to be comforting?
It should of,
I suck at wording things perfectly
Elaine says "Fangberries are very fragile even if we transport them out how would we get there without damaging it."crud why did I have to take an archytpe that gives up woodland stride :(
Male Elf Ranger
Transport is a bit of a quandry.
Silstaren frowns as he thinks. "Halloran, do you think he needs the berries or just the juice? We could squeeze them into a waterskin. At least that would be easy to carry."
Male Human Wizard 2
Halloran gets a frown of his own, I honestly don't know, since we've found the location, we could come back at a later time, when we're better prepared.
Male Elf Ranger
"You're right. We can always return, and we will. But a waterskin is a small thing. Let's fill one with berries. They will pulp themselves as we ride and we can see if Bokken can use them in that condition. Next time we will be better prepared."
Unless anyone else has an idea, I guess we just flag the hex and move on.
Male Human Wizard 2
So, how do we get past the spiders? and the thorns?
Eliane will look for a way around.perception if needed 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Male Elf Ranger
AZ how bad do the thorns look? Length and spacing between? How dense are the webs? Are we talking gypsy moth-like or just a web here or there?
The thorns aren't big, but sharp. Limiting yourself to only move actions is safe in the patch.
The webs are here and there.
Male Elf Ranger
Silstaren draws his dagger and steps up to the edge of the berry bramble. Gingerly, he draws a quick cut across the base of a dozen canes. Grasping them in the spaces between the brambles he tries to free them from their thorny brethren.
May we can attack it piecemeal or cut a short path deeper into the brambles where the nicer berries are.
Male Half-Orc Rogue 1 (Thug)/Barbarian 1 (Urban Barbarian)
"Anyone got an axe? Or maybe we can make some smoke to keep the spiders off us. Works for bees and wasps." Asok says.
Eliane says "I have a scythe? but cutting the plants may weaken future harvests."
Male Elf Ranger
"Cutting an aisle into the berry patch will let us reach many more berries."
You can try, but it might cause more trouble
"Instead of being a scared over some thorns, we just move in it carefully."
She walks into the patch slowly.
Alkaid samples a few berries.
Eliane says "Be careful".
"The berries are over ripe over near the edge, and explains their over delicate nature, but they seem fresher the closer to the center of the patch."
Elaine says "That is good but what will you put them in"
Male Human Wizard 2
I suppose a waterskin is as good as anything else.
Eliane says "Makes sense and then the berries won't end up spilled throughout other gear."
Male Elf Ranger
Silstaren wades carefully into the patch, occasionally cutting back canes so that he can move easier. He picks a handful of berries, then goes carefully back to Halloran to deposit them into the wineskin.
Repeat as needed.
Moving through and collecting berries
Male Human Wizard 2
Halloran is going to hang back, after that last encounter, he's a little uncomfortable around spiders.
Halloran notices a (small) spider It's body about the size of a penny on the patch and is waving it's two front legs as if it was cursing and swearing as Silstaren and Alkaid keep passing through his patch and webbing.
Feeling a little silly and humourous, that and I remembered a scene from Eight legged Freaks where a spider was effective cursing and swearing.
Male Human Wizard 2
Never saw that movie.
Be careful, Halloran calls out to Silstaren and Alkaid, your disturbing one of the spider's webs.
So do we just keep going until we fill up the wineskin?
Male Elf Ranger
"There're webs everywhere. We can't turn around without disturbing a web."
Yeah. One wineskin to test how badly the berries smoosh in transit. If it works we can come back and pick more.
"Which one, as there are a good number of them among our path."
Eight Legged Freaks is a nice cheesy comedy.
Silstaren and Alkaid fill up the wine skin.
Male Elf Ranger
"We have our wineskin of berries. Shall we move on?"
Elaine simply says "Yes."
Male Human Wizard 2
I concur, we can start making our way back to Bokken's hut. suiting actions to words, Halloran secures the waterskin and mounts his horse.
Male Elf Ranger
Silstaren scoops one last handful of berries to eat while they ride.
Let's go!
Last World Map
We should be able to go around the bandit camp hexand then NE.
I'll update the map when I get home.
Male Elf Ranger
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
You come upon the Thorn River as it winds through a 20-foot-deep gulch.
Here between a pair of hills. An old wooden bridge spans the gulch, allowing passage over the river provided that not many attempt it at once.
Male Elf Ranger
Silstaren looks at the bridge and hills. Custom made for an ambush.
HOw long is the bridge? What kind of cover is available on both sides of the gulch?
It goes from one side to the other. So say 30ft long, and no cover on either side
Male Elf Ranger
If there's no cover, then no one can hide over there.
"I'll try it first." Silstaren slides from Duneah's back and eyes the old bridge cautiously. He slips his quiver and bow over a shoulder. Then he leads the horse forward.
Elaine goes almost to the bridge about to go next as Silstaren crosses the bridge.
The bridge moans and Creaks as Elaine goes on it.
Eliane steps back off until Silstaren gets off.
Male Human Wizard 2
Halloran will examine the bridge.
