Ok, a Volcanic Shield, can: "On command, the wielder can make the shield belch forth smoke as a smokestick, but this smoke does not impair the shield user’s vision."
Using a command word item is a standard action, so turning on the smoke is a standard action. But does the shield keep on smoking? Do you need to trigger it every round, or will it keep producing smoke until turned off (just like you don't need to re-trigger your flaming weapon every round)?
