About the ability of Sense Motive level 15 in Skill Unlocks

Original text:
You can read surface thoughts as above after 1 round. In addition, when attacked, you can attempt a Sense Motive check as an immediate action opposed by your target’s attack roll. A successful check grants a +2 insight bonus to your AC against attacks from that specific opponent for 1 minute.

The second half of this ability uses Immediate Action to oppose the target's attack roll. Does this target have to be the target of the first half of the conversation? Or is there no connection between the two?

This is two separate abilities but unbroken by a paragraph break so as not to confuse with a new skill unlock level.

Thank you。

--> Sense Motive skill
--> Skill Unlocks the Signature Skill feat and Unch Rogue's Edge ability. RAW advises not to open the skill unlocks for all PCs without a feat cost.

After the opening the description for Sense Motive skill unlocks is in 4 paragraphs and each references the first(5 ranks) or previous. 15 ranks has two independent options - 1) detect thoughts ability after 1 round, 2) when attacked sense motive check as an immediate vs foe's attack roll(the total to hit with bonuses etc) to gain scaling AC bonuses. Ranks equate to minimal class level. #2 may not trigger/happen if it is a magic attack without an attack roll like Magic Missile.
