3 action Heal spell, how much does it heal?

Rules Discussion

Grand Lodge

Hi everyone.

Me and my group of friends are not in agreement on how the Heal 3 action version spell works.

My opinion.
1action: Single target d8's heal
2action: Single target 30ft range d8's +8 per heightened heal
3action: Every living creature within range d8's heal

Some of my friends.
1action: Single target d8's heal
2action: Single target 30ft range d8's +8 per heightened heal
3action: Every living creature within range d8's +8 per heightened heal
(3rd level heal would then heal 3d8+24 instead of 3d8)

I've found a lot of reddit threads talking about it and everyone seems to agree with my opinion, but i might be wrong still.

You are right. 2 action addition is only for 2 actions, they are separate entries, not incremental. You also don't get this bonus for damage at all, in any case.

Heightened (+1) The amount of healing or damage increases by 1d8, and the extra healing for the 2-action version increases by 8.

This confirms that the the +8 HP applies only to the 2 action version

I would adjudicate the concept of the action cost separation being like specific heightening rank separation. If it was intended that an override from an action cost entry was to apply to multiple action cost entries, then it would be repeated for each action cost entry.

So no, the 3 action version of Heal does not get the +8 per rank bonus healing and does not have a range of 30 feet or a range of touch.
