Monster Push distance on crit

Rules Discussion

Remastered creature Push says to use the listed distance on a successful Shove. But Shove just says to push 10 feet on a crit, not to double the distance. Is the listed distance also used in a crit, or is it doubled?

2r Push only says what happens wrt success, not critical success, so I would guess that critical success is unchanged from base shove. If that leads to the distance shoved on a success and critical success being the same, ehh. That might be a little unsatisfying, but not a big deal. Now, what would put that ruling in question and might require further judgement is if there is a creature with a Push value higher than 10'. Is there one?

Not sure, but I do know that Push used to double distance if the preceding attack roll was a crit. It seems odd that there would be an extra roll required in the Remaster but no way to double the distance.

Actually, Megalodon has an attack with Push 15 feet.

Well then I would probably rule that a crit on the shove roll would double the distance like it used to. Hopefully Monster Core gets errata that clarifies this

The other ruling option is that the crit distance is 5 feet farther than the listed distance.

Which would be the same for a 5 foot Push ability as the player-facing Shove action, but wouldn't end up with a 30 foot Push crit distance for a Megalodon.

However, doubling the distance would be in line with what the monsters were originally capable of while still allowing player abilities to defend against it. The Megalodon really was capable of pushing 30 feet before the Remaster, and it is unlikely that the intent was to take that away.
